So far, Ilima at Leihano has been wonderful. Aside from providing the bed and a few this and that, they gave my husband a free TV, a dining table, and a couple of chairs. I need to provide some more furniture though. He needs a nightstand or something, but they're very helpful and very friendly. He's working with his primary care physician to get physical therapy so he can try to get out of the assisted living section. Other than that, he's doing pretty well and so far I don't have any complaints. They're very competent. The food seems average. They feed him healthy food. He complained about how bland it is, but other than that, he's eating three meals a day and seems to be enjoying them, and it's a facility where they can't add salt because seasoning is unhealthy for a lot of people. So, they're being very careful about that. Unfortunately, that makes it rather tasteless, but it is visually attractive and they do their best given the limitations of the circumstances. They bring it to his room so he doesn't have to go down to the dining room. His only complaint was that the dining room was too cold for him. The facility is gorgeous.

We toured Ilima at Leihano. We liked their community, but it's kind of small so the activities are rather limited. They have a small gym, and it has like three bicycle-like exercises there and a few weights you could use, and it's small. The food wasn't bad. I guess they're preparing that for elderly people. So the food was kind of bland, but everything else was okay. I mean, I could eat it. They have a varied menu. It wasn't that large of a menu because that's limited in the number of people they serve.

The least I like about Ilima at Leihano is the cost. They had a salon, a nice big courtyard, and a swimming pool. They offer activities throughout the day. The salesperson was very thorough and answered all my questions. The facility was really clean. There are restaurants and parks nearby. What I liked about this place, which was a selling point, was that they allowed pets.

Ilima at Leihano looked like they were doing a good job. I liked the leadership philosophy. They're good. I felt they had the right attitude. The staff was friendly, they were all smiling. I can see that their staff was happily working there. One of the residents came up to me and said that it was a great place. The rooms were nice. The place was nicely decorated. It felt warm. Everybody was gathered in the dining room, and it felt like they were all content and happy there. I had a crab salad and water, and it was good and well-prepared. They had outdoor spaces, but they didn't stand out to me in any way.

I have visited Ilima at Leihano. It was all on one level and all on the ground level for the memory care placement, so that is good. I don't like it when they're housed up in a building on the floor way up above, and they're all looking down on something. I find that very isolating for people. Maybe if they're well into their dementia stage, and they don't pay attention, that could very well be, but for somebody that's still got their act together a little bit, it's not so nice. The young lady that we had a connection with was extremely nice. It was very quiet. It's kind of far-reaching. It's not a comfortable distance from where we live because we're at the other end of the island. For daily visitation, it would be a major event, which was the major downfall. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and very upbeat. She had a very upbeat personality.

I toured Ilima at Leihano. It just felt comfortable. It was low-key and very clean. People are very personable, I could kind of picture my mom being there. The staff is nice, she explained everything. She was so thorough, to the point where we didn't have any questions. She answered everything, and took us around to all the different floors, showing us what they have to offer. She took us to a unit that would be close to what my mom will get to stay in. She also showed us everything, the outside, the inside, their dining room, activity room, exercise room, and their swimming pool. We didn't stay for lunch. She said maybe you can try and bring your mom because we haven't discussed it with her; that was good. She gave me suggestions about how to go about bringing it up, or what they had to do with other residents. There was even a lady there, a resident; to get her there, they told her it was a senior hotel because she had dementia. They said she still thinks it's a senior hotel, but she loves it there. She was trying to give me little tips on how to ease my mom in, said to bring her for lunch, and let her see what it's like. They have a member there that has been a resident since day one with them, and she's like their ambassador. I guess, whoever is new coming in, she'll take them around, have lunch with them; my mom would like that. My mom needs to socialize constantly, that's how she is. I can see her going to that place. They had an outdoor area. Families can reserve the area to have a small get-together with the residents, it was nice. She says a lot of times people have their lunch out there too. They have a perimeter. What I was impressed with is that each resident has a pendant that they wear, like life alert. It's just for their residents in that area, it'll still work if they walk outside. If they fall or something, they can press the button, and everyone in the building will be notified. That's pretty neat. If she's sitting in the room, they can press it too. I didn't know they would have something like that.

Ilima at Leihano was nice because it's newer. It was just built. The assisted side is totally separate from the other side because they have all the kind of people that live there that don't really need care. They can just live there, but they can move around. The walkways were big, and the rooms were big. When you enter the room, they got like a big glass and each person can put mementos inside the glass, so you know whose room it is. Each person had that right in front of their door. They had their mother, father, and kids' pictures in there, and whatever's important to them. I thought that was awesome. Everything was on that side including the food. It was separate and it was nice. It had its own garden. You could go outside, plant, sit in the sun, and walk around. They actually took the seniors on tours, and they walked them. That place was good. The staff was awesome. Because it's a separate side, they have more than enough nurses to cover. The activities were awesome. They did almost everything like bingo, games, and exercises. We really wanted this place, but there's a waiting list. We would have to wait until somebody came off that list. It was our first choice, but the lady said it would take months, and we really couldn't wait that long. If they had an opening there, my father would be there now. The staff was awesome. You got the kitchen and everything there, and they pretty much serve the food that you want to eat. They talk to you and they ask what your loved one likes to eat. They don't really give them food that they don't like to eat. It was pretty good over there. Overall, that's the best. The hallways were huge for people to move around. They won't bump each other. The rooms were nice, and how they just got them set up was awesome in there. It would've been perfect for us, but they don't have enough rooms in the assisted side. The waiting list for the men was too long.

From what I've seen, Ilima at Leihano is a good place. My mom likes the meals they provide and they have extracurricular activities. It's nice, clean, the staff is friendly, and she seems to be enjoying herself. The exterior and interior seem like they just recently built it because it looks up to date. The apartment she's in is a one-bedroom apartment and it's quite big for her. They feed her three meals a day, and whenever she wants a snack, she just asks for whatever she wants and they usually give it to her. I observed them doing some bingo the day I visited, and the residents seem to be enjoying themselves and having fun. They have a pool, a private dining room for families who want to come in and have little parties, but with COVID going on, I don't know if they're restricting people from using the pool or even the private dining room. Then they have a little lounge area separate from their cafeteria and dining area that the residents spend time in, an activities room, and they're allowed to walk the exterior grounds with typical landscaping on. It's not one of those bigger facilities, but it's quite nice. The main reasons why I picked it for my mom were because it is close to where I live and the impression I got from my visit to the facility and the staff were good. I've met various people, from sales to residents relations nurses to maintenance people, and they all seemed pleasant and informative. Another reason was it's reasonably priced compared to other places that I researched.

We're choosing the Ilima at Leihano facility because it was well kept, and the support staff is at the level that my father needed at this time. The staff assisted me in facilitating the necessary information, and also ensuring that my father is at the right place. They have a pool, they have a barbecue outing, they have things that are very apropos for individuals who have memory issues, either dementia or early-onset Alzheimer's. It appeared very clean. But, this is a tour and they know that we're coming.

My father will be moving in to Ilima at Leihano. It is awesome and good. They showed us the studio because we were only interested in the studio. I think the size was a little over 400 square feet, and it has a kitchenette. The staff were very professional, helpful, and kind. They have common rooms, lounges, a dining area, and they have an activities area.

My tour at Ilima at Leihano was good. It's a beautiful facility, it's a really nice facility, and the staff is very nice and very friendly. They have a dining hall, a swimming pool, gardens, and different classes. Pretty much across the board, all senior places are the same. The food was great; they have good food.

I went to Ilima at Leihano for my Dad. The overall experience was very pleasant and I felt comfortable enough to ask any questions that I had. The agent that I worked with was very welcoming and informative. I can tell that she cares a lot about the seniors because she knew a lot of their names and she was aware of their individual needs. It might be more comfortable because it seemed more intimate. It's smaller, so I think the staff would be more familiar with the tenants. The facility is fairly new. Everything looked new, well kept and clean.

We toured Ilima at Leihano. It's actually very good, it's a newer one, it's only been open four years or five years, it's very, very clean, and very conscious of infection control. They had us put on booties, gloves, and even a little cape. It's not too big, so it's not overwhelming in terms of the size and number of people there, The rooms were nice, right, clean, well-organized, and they have a system where if someone is in the room and they need help, all they have to do is push a button and it would notify individuals to come to help them. Overall, it's very good. Right now they are delivering meals to the rooms, but under normal times the options for meals are much more flexible than other places we looked at. It was better than I had anticipated it would be.

I toured Ilima at Leihano originally with my husband and they answered numerous questions to my satisfaction. I was very pleased. Even my mother's physician agrees that this place would be a good fit for her. It's very clean, and the people are very friendly. I like that it's designed so you don't feel like you're in an institution. It has a very homey feeling and it felt very safe. The staff was very friendly and engaging. Even the residents acknowledged us when we were there, and they appeared to be very happy. It's very beautiful and spacious. Our only concern was that it seemed very open, but after talking with the director she said it's because they don't want the residents to feel enclosed. From what I could see and whatever was going on, we felt safe and comfortable with their response. We were so impressed. My husband said after we left that place, "I'm so pleased with this place that I would consider signing up before it gets up to capacity." That's how pleased we were. They fed us lunch, and the food service manager came out to greet us after our meal. One of the chefs came out to greet us as well.

My sister is in Ilima at Leihano. I'm very happy with it. It's a relatively new facility, and she seems to be settling in well. The rooms are very nice. The staff is excellent. The dining area is very nice and restaurant style. They have a lot of activities. It's much better than I had expected. It's an excellent facility.

At 'Ilima at Leihano, if you required assisted living, you can stay in your room and they would come to your room to assist you with your daily living activities. The place is new, but it's too far away from where I live. They gave us a calendar of activities. The facility looked clean. We saw a studio apartment because that was what we were interested in, but the one we saw wasn't furnished. I have no negative comments or comments for improvement.

Ilima at Leihano looks nice but I find the price too high. The material that they use inside for that amount, for me, is not reasonable. Even the woods and the partition, I find them not applicable for that price. I saw the activities that the other senior citizens were doing there; they were boring. I like gardening. I don’t have to go to a place in order to meet other people, to talk to them, and to crochet.

Aloha and thank you for your feedback. Our community offers a wide variety of activities to meet the many interests of our residents, and we have many engaging activities I believe you’d enjoy. I would love to invite you back on a day that residents are taking care of our garden herbs that we use in the kitchen here at Ilima, as you mentioned you love to garden. In addition, many of our residents enjoy participating in water aerobics in our pool, ceramic and painting classes, weekly happy hours with live entertainment, ukulele lessons and much more. Please call and ask for Amanda Schwilch. We’d love to have you come back and experience Ilima at Leihano.

I visited Ilima at Leihano, and it is a nice community. My sister lives there. It's a new place with only 30 residents at that time. For their activities, they have arts and crafts, happy hour, and different social functions. Their menu looks pretty good.

Ilima at Leihano and its rooms were very nice. The food was very good, and the dining area was very nice. The staff was very nice, very helpful, and very informative. If they offered another level of care higher than what they did at that time, it would be something we would consider. The price sounded very reasonable for the services they offered.

Ilima at Leihano was very nice. They’re advertising for assisted living, but they don’t have it yet. It was really nice if you don’t need assisted living. They had a calendar of activities, but I didn’t study each individual ones. They seemed to have art classes and excursions. We were looking for assisted living, and they didn’t have it; other than that, they were OK.
