My siblings and I never imagined that our mother would live in an assisted living facility. When her healthcare needs changed, and it was time to provide her with a different level of care, we carefully researched which assisted living home would be the most appropriate for our mother. It was imperative to us that she receive medical care at the highest level, but as important, was the need to care for her emotional well-being during this life adjustment. We wanted her to be happy, active, and safe, and her health care needs to be fulfilled with dignity and compassion. Buckingham South was the only facility we were convinced offered the quality of 24-hour care our mother needed and deserved. My mother adjusted quickly to this change in her life, primarily due to the staff's attention and the residents welcoming her. She was happy and enjoyed the activities and fellowship with the residents and the staff. When my mother's health declined, Rita and her staff visited my mother multiple times each day, often late into the night, to comfort her and ensure that she was not afraid or alone. Living out of town enabled me to see first-hand how the staff interacted with my mother and the other residents at different times and days of the week. I am convinced that the level of care and emotional support that Rita and her staff demonstrated towards my mother was not an isolated case. Residents are treated with dignity, love, and compassion at this pivotal time in their lives. The owner, Rita, her family, and the facility's staff took excellent care of my mother during the last few months of her life and for that, I am forever grateful.

I moved into Buckingham South over 10 years ago. My brother did lots of research and found that this was the best medical care, best social atmosphere & the most personal attention. I love it here. Everyone is warm, caring & incredibly attentive. What a blessing that I found this place! It’s almost too good to believe.

The staff at Buckingham South Assisted Living was very pleasant and very nice. It was a hard sell. The reason we didn't choose it is it is very noisy and it is very heavily populated. There's a lot of activity in the common areas. It felt like a beehive. It was rundown, tired, very overdone, and overdecorated. It was just too much and it was too noisy.

We're on a list for Buckingham South Assisted Living for my husband. It's the only place I have found that would take him because of his feeding tube. I thought it was very clean. The people there were very caring. It's family-owned, and family operated. They have several RNs that are on staff 24 hrs a day.

Buckingham South Assisted Living was impressive. It seemed like a topnotch place. We didn't choose it because we made other plans with family, which we thought was better. It's a very hands-on place and family run. It's been the same family running for at least 20 years.

I liked Buckingham South very much, and it's my first choice here in Savannah. They're very accommodating, and the rooms and apartments were nice, but the facility needs to be freshened up since it was a little outdated and shabby. I think the care was very good and I liked the staff, but the food wasn't very good.

We have placed a deposit at Buckingham South for my mother. The rooms are nice; they have one- and two-bedrooms and efficiency apartments, too. It is a multi-level unit with four floors and a little sitting area on each floor. They have a hair salon, gaming room, and a nice dining room. They have LPNs on every floor, and a registered nurse that assisted all the other nurses. It seems like it is going to be a good fit for my mom. A lot of people have moved from where they are now to Buckingham South.

To Rita and the staff of Buckingham South: There is no way to properly show enough gratitude for the wealth of kindness, patience, understanding and professionalism you and your staff have shown our family and for our father. You have gone above and beyond to make him comfortable, have helped us immeasurably with the complexities of his medical care and given him a safe and beautiful haven to call home. When we witnessed what you have built and experienced the incredible service you are doing for so many people, we counted our lucky stars to have found you. Bettina, Bolyn and Barbara

I liked Buckingham South Assisted Living. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooms were an average size. The residents seemed very happy. It was a very fine facility. It did not have a locked in facility. It had cameras. It was one of the best facilities.

Buckingham South's staff was very friendly and accommodating. The location was great. It's in right in center of town, next to a shopping mall, grocery stores, and Starbucks. The residents could walk to the areas of shopping, so I thought the location was fabulous.

My husband is in Buckingham South Assisted Living. I am satisfied with their services. He has Alzheimer’s, and they have him taken care of. He has been there since December. They have been good, but they are expensive. The community is nice. They have activities and their amenities are nice, too. They have a good dining room, and they have pretty caring staff. It has porches that people can sit on.

Buckingham South was a little nicer, cleaner, newer, better, and had a few more amenities than the other places I visited. The personnel were very nice, very efficient, and very competent. There were a lot of retired doctors and lawyers living here, so it was more of a professional group. There was a lot of interaction with the personnel. The rooms were very similar to other places, but the common areas were cleaner.

My father's attorney recommended Buckingham South. We did place him there, and he is receiving excellent care. We're very pleased with the facility, the staff, and the care he's getting. He's in assisted living, but his condition has deteriorated some to where it's going to end up being a memory-care facility for him. Everything's been great, and they have programs every day. They take him wherever he wants to go and when he wants to go. He can't drive anymore, his hygiene is not good, he was not eating properly, and he wasn't taking his medications. It's been a great place, although he has had a very difficult time transitioning. They had to do a lot of hand-holding with him, calling him to remind him to come eat and have bingo. His comment to me is, there's a bunch of old people there. The staff has been fabulous. They have 24-hour medical nurse on staff. They have call buttons, and they check on them and make sure he takes his medicine ritually and that he is eating properly because of his other medical conditions. We've been very pleased. Everything is on computer, and they have cameras everywhere. They log everything in when they go check on him, and they can print out everything for us.

Buckingham South- the exterior setting is not as attractive for the building, but the building itself is in a great location with sound proofing, so that noise is not a problem. They are licensed as a long term care, assisted living facility so that their insurance policies would pay. They would be able to stay in the same apartment at all times and receive up to 45 minutes of care a day included. They have nurses and lpn's on staff 24/7 and will check on residents every 2 hours if requested. They can help with meds, bathing, dressing and transferring as well. If they need more care they do not have to move and can just add more care where they are. The transportation seems to be readily available. Meals can be brought to the room and there is a full breakfast. It is a lot of value for the money and appears to be a a happy, smaller place where folks seem to know and care about each other. There are church services and a barber and beauty shop onsite as well as transport to some churches in the area.

Mom has already settled at Buckingham South. It's a beautiful place. They have good lighting and for an assisted living facility, I think it is very nice. The staff is excellent. Their activities vary from each week. They have entertainment, movies, and games. They also have some arts and crafts. They have a lot of activities within the building. They have a nice library and a pool table. The food is good, not gourmet eating, but its good. The residents love having choices with the type of food that they want. I like that they have a lot of choices in the layout of the rooms. It's very efficient and very safe. They do try to make the community happy and that is nice. They are also pretty good at addressing issues right way.

Buckingham has been great for my grandmother. When she lived at home, she was having a great deal of both physical and mental difficulties, and things were getting worse. Since moving to a facility, she has improved dramatically from a combination of the increased social interaction, the structured daily schedule and the around the clock care she receives from Buckingham South's highly trained employees. My grandmother lives comfortably in a studio unit and has been able to bring over many of the staple that made her house feel like a home. As a result, she doesn't feel like she has had to make any major sacrifices in terms of independence as a result of the move. In addition, activities like Bingo and the educational classes offered through her facility have offered her added enrichment, which she wouldn't have received otherwise. In conclusion, my grandmother's move has been a dramatic success.
