The Veranda came into my life at a time when my Mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I started taking her there for Day Care, then when the time came she went into the facility full time as a resident. The Staff, management, the hair stylists, dentists, and others who worked with the residents all have a deep love for them. They treat them with respect, they love on them and take time with them. I would go visit my Mother every day and no matter what time I came I was welcomed by the staff. When my Mother passed, most of the staff came to her room and cried with us. They loved her like she was their own Mother. I will always remember this. The Veranda is a great place for your loved one to be if you need this type of care. I would highly recommend The Veranda.

The Veranda is an awful place. Keep your loved ones away. The residents are not taken care of properly. The staff is lazy and careless. Residents aren't changed frequently and the majority of the time are walking around with soiled depends. It's is imperative that you keep your loved ones away. This place is awful!!!!

We had an awful experience with the Verandah. It has gone through a change of ownership and in the process lack of care for my mother included neglecting to give her prescribed oxygen resulting in her nearly losing consciousness, Neglecting to check on he resulting in her falling and not being found for an hour and general lack of concern for her well being. Don't put your loved one through this!

I'm very pleased and happy about this place. I don't have any negative feedback. My other half has been here for a year already. I liked the fact that it is a one-level facility only. It has a very large open room for people to mingle and do lots of activities. You can't feel any isolation because there's so much interaction. The bright lights that enter the building add to the homey environment. My husband shares a room and a bath. But he sleeps in a queen size bed, which I am pleased since he hasn't slept in a twin bed ever. He has an extra sink, a small refrigerator, and a shower of his own. This place provides meal for the residents. The food is quite good because I've had my meals there with my husband, lots of instances already. The dining area's one end is for residents who needed help with eating. I didn't have any problem with the care they provide to my loved one, it's really impressive. The caregivers have always been sweet and gentle. I also noticed they seem to like their job and older people. I think it takes a lot of character to do this because sometimes elders are a bit difficult to handle.

We placed my Mother at the Veranda in a rush after she had a bad experience at another local assisted living. I was honest with the team at the Veranda about some of the anger problems my Mother was having because of the disrespect and poor treatment elsewhere. We had wanted to place Mom at the Veranda several times in the past 10 yrs of her alzheimers history & had toured the facility twice before, but the price was always just out of reach for Mom's income (which was already on the high end of retirement income). Now to our delight they had re-thought their cost and were now a lower price & an all inclusive cost care facility. No more rating and or points system that goodness. The move in staff was so helpful, respectful and warm with us and Mom. Over the past 4 months they have helped my Mom not only with her everyday needs but with her emotional needs as well. They know how to handle one on type of resident...ones with Alzheimers. So many other assisted livings cater to the the general population of elderly. But it takes special training and a calm comforting place and staff to handle Alzheimers residents. My advice to others is to be sure and meet and spend time getting to know the Care manager Director, her personality dictates the atmosphere of the facility. If she doesn't treat your loved one with respect and a gentle spirit & voice don't expect the care providers to do otherwise.
