I'm at Winthrop Court. They made some changes right here and I got a little nervous about it, but things have straightened out, so I'm satisfied. The place is very nice and very clean. The number one thing I like about it here is everybody working here is very loving, very kind and very helpful to everybody. You can tell that they're sincere. Sometimes, the food could be better, but generally speaking, it's a nice and friendly place to live. This was formerly a motel. The rooms are very big and the bathrooms are very big. They have one room with everything in it or you could have a two-room apartment, which is what I have. I have a living room and a kitchenette and then I have a bedroom and a bathroom, so you can have a two-room sort of apartment or you can have a one-room, but the one-room is very big. Everything is pretty much included. Your TV is included in your payment. You don't pay electricity or anything like that. The only thing you pay for is your own telephone. We have a nice courtyard. People sit out and play cards and stuff like that. We have an activity room separate where they play bingo every day and all different kinds of activities. We have people come in and sing for us. You can participate in something every day if you wanted to. We have yoga classes, you name it. They have an outside cooking area, and a beautiful patio with tables and chairs, ovens, cookers, and fryers. One night dinner will be outside if the weather's great. It's a very nice place.

The Winthrop Court facility is a converted Ramada Inn, so access to all of the rooms is outside. The facility itself is old and not up to date. They were in the process of replacing all the air conditioning units. The carpeting is worn out. It looked like a beat-up old Ramada Inn. I met two staff. One was an elderly gentleman who took us around. He was nice but he didn't seem to know a whole lot of anything. The kitchenette looked like it was 20 to 30 years old. It required extensive renovation. But the one thing you can't get away from is the fact that you're on a one- and two-story outdoor access to all the rooms. Even though it's covered, it's all open and the people are going to get wet and they're kind of stuck in their rooms. It's outside access that you can't fix. I wouldn't even stay there if it's a hotel. It was the cheapest compared to others, and that tells you a lot.

Winthrop Court was very nice. The people were very nice. The director who gave us the tour was very knowledgeable, very friendly, and very caring. The place was spotless and clean. The residents all seemed to be happy and contented. We got information about some of the activities they have. They have some country music for the people, and there are other things. The dining room was laid out very nicely and set up to keep people separated because of COVID. It's very clean.

My mother was a resident at Winthrop Court for five years. The staff is friendly and caring and there is a family atmosphere among the residents. We very much appreciated that Winthrop does not have an institutional feeling, that is has the feeling of home. My mother knew that all of the employees really cared about her. It is not just a job to them. I really can’t thank them enough!! Winthrop Court, great place to live!

Considering the move into a senior living community is not to be taken lightly. You want more than just a place to live. You want a home. I am a senior adult and have been a part of the Winthrop community for 11 years. I might be a bit biased in my opinion but I also know something to be true. Winthrop Court is a place you can call home. It houses a group of residents and a top notch staff that are more than just people who live and work here. They are a family. That is what makes this community a home. This morning I tragically lost a very special young family member. I was devastated. It has only been a few hours but I have already been surrounded by love and understanding by not only my neighbors here but by the staff as well. That is what communities such as this should be. That is what is needed when changes in life occur. That is what lives here at Winthrop Court. That my friends is “The Winthrop Way!”

Winthrop Court was very nice. The lobby was excellent, beautiful, and very inviting. Everything was very clean. The dining room was outstanding. The people were very nice. The guy who did the tour was the part owner and he was very nice and very helpful with his answers to our questions. My only problem was it is was a converted motel and it still had that motel feel. Most of the rooms open out onto an open balcony, so in the wintertime you would be dealing with wind and cold weather. You'd have to go outside to wash your clothes, to go to the dining area, to go to the lobby, and that was something I was not going to do. Everybody was friendly to us. They were putting together a gym at the time. They have complete nursing care if you need it.

I'm quite satisfied with the rooms in Winthrop Court. However, my reason for not going there is their price. Everything is good. They have lots of activities. They have a library and an activities room. The staff members are very good. The dining area is spacious and clean.

I visited Winthrop, but I did not like it very much. It was a much older building that has been repurposed. The location was not great, and it didn’t impress me that much. Winthrop originally was built as a remodeled inn. The pricing was a little lower.

Winthrop Court was very nice, but you could tell that it had once been a Ramada Inn. The staff was very nice. Because they converted a hotel from a hotel to assisted living, there's a heating and air unit in each room, or one in the bedroom and one in the living room, which I guess could be good but took up more space. They had a lot of outdoor availability there. Winthrop Court was older but very well kept and very pretty; however, I liked another community better.

I stayed at Winthrop for probably a year and a half. It was nice. The room was very clean, it's over 900 square feet and it very nice. Everybody there was very nice and friendly to me. They allowed pets and I had a dog. The food was good, but you had to through a buffet line. They also had recreational activities.

What keeps this facility seen as a quality service, is the level of personal/individual commitment of its "on the floor" staff. This contributes to the overall content and satisfied feeling of the residents. They achieve this in many ways, one of which is focus on cleanliness. When we entrusted them with my father, one of our larger concerns was the normally expected smells that can accompany a facility with less attentive staff. That they are attentive to the level of keeping a clean-smelling facility speaks volumes to how well they attend to the less obvious needs of the residents. We lost my father last month to Azheimer's there but their cooperation with outside health service providers made his passing much more bearable. I would recommend Winthrop West to anyone else.

Withrop West is a wonderful facility. My grandmother lived here for a while before she passed away. The staff was excellent and always attentive to her needs. Yet they let her do enough on her own to keep her happy and feeling good. The facility is nice and the rooms really felt like home. The dining room is roomy and is a great place for the residents to socialize and get out and about. The dining staff is wonderful and always provide good meals for there residents. The Withrop West facility has daily activities for the residents to help keep them active, but they are completely voluntary and they never pressure the residents into feeling like they should or should not participate. The facility is secured by a keypad that keeps unwanted people from having access to the facility. I would recommend Withrop West for any one who is looking for an assissted living home for their loved one.
