I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My brother-in-law is at The Gardens of Rome. I think they're very caring people, they've got their hands full with him and I appreciate it. He's had a lot of problems there and they've been really good about trying to work with him and help him as much as they can. He loves the food there. A lot of the people in the memory care part aren't very active and they don't talk a lot, but the staff members are very nice and helpful. So far, I think we think it's a good place. I don't think any place is perfect, but they're good.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother Mrs. Tillie just passed away. She had been at the Gardens of Rome for 5 months. My mom had issues with her memory, but she loved her room and the sweet ladies that cared for her. Her room was always clean and whenever we ask anyone for help, they were there to do whatever they could to make her stay pleasant. The staffed loved on her and did extra to try to help when she began the process of going home to be with her Lord and Savior. Very happy with the Gardens of Rome and the wonderful, sweet care givers. Thank you

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband has been at The Gardens of Rome for two weeks now. It's a very nice place, and the food is great. Everybody seems to be good to him. The staff is fine; they're doing well. His room has a small kitchenette in it with a refrigerator, a sink, and a countertop with some cabinets. It has a huge closet and a nice bathroom. It's a nice, big room. They have a large room out there with a big TV in it, but I don't think they have activities right now, probably because of COVID. There's a man from somewhere who does rehabilitation therapy for them. They also have somebody who cuts hair. He said they have a back door where they can go out and sit on a covered deck. They have a courtyard there with a gazebo and a sidewalk, and you can go for a walk. He can't do that, though, because he's blind; he has to have assistance. I ate lunch with him the first day he was there and the food was good. They have a huge dining room and a huge living room. He has to be helped to go to these rooms, though.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father is back at The Gardens of Rome, but I don't know how long he is going to stay there because he can't walk. Also, with his behavior, we are having to hire a 24-hour sitter. We don't really know what to do now because it's $2800 a week for a sitter. He has been there since July. I like it. Everybody is nice, and they let me know what's going on. It's a nice and clean place. He has a studio room. They have rooms that go out to the courtyard and then they have rooms that go out to the parking lot, whichever you prefer. Some of the rooms are bigger than others, so you just go in and choose which one you want. We haven't tried the food because we're not allowed to go in, but we visit my father on the porch.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My grandmother was in the Gardens of Rome (Oxton Place). They're the most hands-on. I've met some of the residents, and they really enjoy it. The staff is very responsible, responsive whenever I have any questions, and really take care of my grandmother how I would like to see fit. They're undergoing remodelling, and it's all looking good. They have individual rooms, no kitchen, each of their meals are provided for, but they do have a microwave and refrigerator. They do devotions once a week, they play bingo, and she gets her hair done every Friday.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

What I like about Oxton Place of Rome is that it is locked down. There are two buildings, Building A and Building B. Building B is for Alzheimer's patients, and it is super-secure. You have to have a code to get in and out; the building stays locked up tight 24/7. There is an activities director and a calendar with all the activities for the month listed. The list is humongous with big letters. It is on a bulletin board so all the residents can see what is going on during the day. There are a couple of really funny-looking games on the wall. When patients are walking by, they can stop and play. The games are almost like labyrinths or something. The player uses these little handles, and the button goes everywhere. The game is really cute and fun. I ended up putting my uncle there. I like it for him because he kept running away. It's a very small place. They do have access to a garden, but it's not very big. They have a picnic table out there and bird feeders. They have a lot of trouble retaining staff for some reason. The older people who stay there are wonderful. I really appreciate the med techs who are there in the evening. Eric and Tim, the two guys over in Building B with my uncle, are on top of things and really good. It is always very clean.

I visited this facility

Oxton Place of Rome was very clean with very well cared for and happy residents and attentive caretakers. When you walk in, you get the feeling that it's a very calm and caring environment. The rooms were in very good shape, very spacious, and accomodating to your needs; if you need two rooms, there are two-bedrooms. We were able to talk with residents who have been there for five years, and they just couldn’t say enough nice things about the facility.
