I have looked and checked many assisted living facilities for my mom. She has lived in a big corporate owner facility in the past. TANGLEWOOD is a great place for her, she enjoys the personal care, the small community, great food, clean living areas, but most importantly the owners and staff. The people make the difference and I would recommend TANGLEWOOD with its hands on approach owners to the very attentive, compassionate staff.

About Tanglewood Personal Care Home in Dawsonville, Georgia
Tanglewood is designed for people who are not able to live by themselves but do not require constant care. Much different than our competition, we design customized care for individuals to help ease them through lifestyle transitions and to enhance their happiness and sense of well-being. We provide individual assistance with eating, bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene, laundry, housekeeping, ambulating and assistance with medications. Our services are not as intensive or available to residents as the care offered in a nursing home. However, our residents receive the traditional care they need, while maintaining much of their independence and dignity in a safe and secure place they can call home.
Our program directors combine educational and personal experience in the field of geriatrics to provide better care for those seniors that do require assistance. Tanglewood staff strives to provide the necessary tools and resources to foster a more individualized approach to daily living. The activities are tailored to the individual resident, making sure that it meets their needs according to their personal physical and cognitive abilities. We create a service plan for each individual resident upon admission. This service plan details the personalized services required by the resident and guaranteed by Tanglewood. With our routine wellness monitoring, the plan is updated regularly to assure that the resident receives the appropriate care as his or her condition changes.
Caring for someone is both a science and an art and requires good observation and people skills. A good caregiver understands these elements and blends them accordingly. Here at Tanglewood, we have spent a considerable amount of time thinking about the nature and the scope of work duties required of our caregivers and we train them accordingly before they interface with our residents. Also, we know that our residents and their family members are our customers. We hire and develop our support team with that as one of our major underlying principles. We also provide our staff with the most current educational material within our industry. We try our very best to address each resident's physical, spiritual and social needs in a caring atmosphere of respect and dignity while providing a very comfortable, safe and secure environment that they can call home.

I visited Tanglewood and was amazed at how clean it was. The staff and owners appeared genuinely caring and friendly. The owners were a wealth of knowledge . They gave me contacts that made my life a lot easier. I didn't have an appointment. I just popped in but the owners said that was the best way to see a facility. The staff and owners treated everyone of the residents as an extended family member and before I left I wanted to move in there myself. This is by far the best facility in the area and if I could give them 6 stars I would. This place is great!

Privately owned, the founder, a lifetime resident of the area, has dedicated himself to the care community. The facility is small"”with only about 15 rooms, but is brand new and located way off the main road, so very secluded. There is an outdoor garden spot with an awning on it; bird feeders are set up which some residents find very engaging. The entire facility is very clean and well maintained, with nice touches throughout, such as beautiful and comfy leather chairs. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous and very large; private and semi-private are available, some equipped with walk-in tubs. There is a state of the art kitchen area and staff who will prepare special meals for residents. The dining room features beautiful table settings, with tablecloths and nice silverware. There is also a private dining room for families and guests. Several menu options are offered every day. Activities and pet therapy are offered, although few outings offsite have been arranged for residents. The care is very good. Residents get one-on-one care from the getgo, the residential care managers also live on site, which is convenient and also helps with safety concerns. Overall, Tanglewood is geared toward basic assisted living"”and is good for people who have a fairly high degree of independence. Hospice is allowed, but so far no dedicated memory care is offered. A big plus is that the monthly fee includes everything except for TV and phone service. If I could give Tanglewood an 8, I would.
