My husband is at The Gardens At Calvary, and I can't say enough good things about them. We chose this community because it is a Christian environment, close to my house, and I had references from people I knew that had been there before. Our experience has been excellent so far. The staff is very patient with him. He needs a lot of support and they're very good about that. He likes the food too. They have activities like bible study, exercises, bingo, music where they sing or listen to it, and crafts. It's been really hard for them to do these activities since COVID, but they've managed to keep them going. The facility is beautiful. It's hard for me to pay that much money for the services we received, but compared to others it seems like I am paying just about the same.

The Gardens at Calvary is a very nice community. They have lots of activities, good food, and the place is clean. They play bingo, craft activities, and somebody was singing for them dressed as a cowboy last week, which my mother enjoyed so much. They also have medical help; she has a buzzer on her neck, and when she pushed the button when she had trouble with her TV and radio, they came to help her. Mother says she hasn't seen a cleaner place. They mow the grass and at certain times in the morning, they empty the trash cans out. She said they do it more often than we think.

The location of Gardens at Calvary was convenient. The ground was well kept. The person that we spoke with was very friendly and very knowledgeable. The place was clean and did not have a nursing home smell to it.

Before my daddy got very ill, and needed more care, I would have rated The Gardens a five. However, after he started needing more care, I'd rate them a 3. The whole facility is very clean, but my daddy’s room, when he needed more care, was not very clean. The staff was great, but they were through some kind of change that fell back on the people that live there for some reason. My daddy has had some downers, and it was hard for him to go through another flight. They wanted us to hire a sitter for him. We were sitting with him. I am 4 hours away from my dad, and I was going for a week. My husband was going for a week. My brother would go in the weekend. In the last six months it just all changed, and I have to say it had to be the management change they were going through. There was just something going on there. I don’t know what it was, but other people were saying the same thing. Hopefully their management change is finished now that the end of the year has come. Hopefully now they are back to normal because it was wonderful for me first to have my daddy there. They were nice, and friendly. They were always looking in on my dad, and he liked it there. The main road is a very busy road. He could have been out of the road, and been hit by a car. If that bell goes off they are supposed to go look at the door to see what happens, and who turns that off. Nobody was doing that. The food was good, but at the end he is on soft diet. They keep on giving the same food.

The Gardens at Calvary was a beautiful place. It was almost like a hotel, and the people were very nice. I wouldn't mind living there myself. They would have loved to take my wife, but they said they were not sure if they could really take care of her because she needs a little more care than they had. The lady couldn't have been nicer, and she was very honest with me. They had quite a bit of activities; they had the TV's, they play games, and they even have entertainers coming in. They were very well-endowed. The dining room was absolutely beautiful.

My grandmother was at The Gardens for almost three years. She was suffering with Alzheimer's so it was important for us to find a facility that allowed her to maintain her "independence" but gave us the piece of mind of having readily available medical services. She thought so highly of the staff, and in fact, spoke of the nurses as if they were her family. She enjoyed the communal activities and made several friends that we have continued to keep in touch with. But I think the most important thing was that the facility was in some way affiliated with a local church, and she just loved that showing her faith was not only accepted, but encouraged. And while she was able, she very much enjoyed the exercise programs. The building itself is a little outdated, but it was always very clean, and we felt very satisfied with the level of care she received. I would most definitely recommend The Gardens to anyone needing assistance with their ageing relatives. While it was a little on the pricey side, it was well worth the service.

The facility is a little outdated when compared to other area facilities. However there is a good sense of community more than likely owed to its religious affiliation. The staff is warmer once they get to know you, at first the reception seemed a bit stiff and unwelcoming. It's definitely geared more towards residents who are from this area rather than residents outside the area that move here in their later years.

The Gardens at Calvary is a wonderful facility. My great grandmother and great grandfather lived here for several years. I could tell they honestly cared about their residents and wanted them to be comfortable. There is always something for the residents to do, from exercise workouts to bingo. My great grandmother was worried before she moved in that she and my great grandfather wouldn't be properly looked after. That quickly changed. The staff are on call 24/7 and bring any scheduled medications to the residents promptly. My great grandparents have since passed, but I am still thankful to The Gardens staff for being so compassionate in caring for them. I would urge anyone in the Columbus area in need of assisted living to take a tour of The Gardens.
