I moved into Spring Harbor at Green Island. It's a five-star, and the staff is wonderful. The meals are 80% great. They've got chair volleyball, they have arts and crafts, and we have our movies. We have a little theater here. We have movies every day. We have a happy hour every Friday afternoon. My apartment is big, 2300 square feet, And that's one thing you don't find in all these other places we visited. They're not cramming us in little bitty places, but we have villas. My first villa was also 2300 square feet. And I think they go all the way down to about a thousand. There are no garages in the big buildings, but all the villas have garages. I have three bedrooms and three baths. There's free transportation,a big beautiful indoor pool, and a Jacuzzi. We also have the benefit of masseurs who come and give massages. We have our own bank. We have a beauty parlor here, and we also have a therapy department. The people are great. We have a lot of things that involve us. I love everybody here. I just feel like I'm home.

I had toured Spring Harbor. I loved it; however, it was one of the places where you bought into it for life, and I couldn't afford the initial payment. It was like a minimum of $200,000. It was that kind of a place. It was about perpetual care, but the initial cost was too much for me. But it was a beautiful facility. The apartments for independent living are larger. The activities are first class, high end, and very cultural. They take their residents to cultural events in the city. They have lots of sporting and physical activities. It's just a very active community. The facility itself is immaculate and elegant. Everything about it is very high end. It's lovely. Everyone I met was extraordinarily friendly. There's a full-time physician available on the premises. It's just an extraordinary place, but it is expensive.

The rooms at Spring Harbor were very nice, everything was first-class. They had a lot of activities and a beautiful swimming pool indoors with aerobic exercises in the water. They gave me a list of all activities which starts at 8:00 in the morning, and goes all day long for five days a week. It was excellent, none of the others can compare. We ate there and the food was excellent. I think it's an older community but it looked brand-new. The apartments were immaculate, with nice color schemes and nice carpet.

Spring Harbor was really nice but too expensive. It was like a little city with a bank and a little bit of everything. The place was beautiful, immaculate, and really nice. They had a rehab but only for their own residents. The dining room looked like a nice restaurant. The residents were all dressed and looked nice.

You can have an apartment at Spring Harbor. It has one bedroom and a kitchen. It's beautifully appointed, with great carpeting. They all have microwaves and steel refrigerators. The residents get to know each other. They play bridge, they have a movie theater, and they have art classes. I'd probably join that and I'd probably swim in the pool. They have exercises every day. They go out on trips to the symphony, and then when you're incapacitated, you move over to a different area of this place. When it first opened the food was very good, now, the food is just good. They have a new chef. All my friends are there. It's the most exclusive neighborhood. It takes you 5 minutes to get to a Starbucks. They have nurses and doctors on call. It's one of the top ones.

Researching and visiting CCRC's in the Southeast over several years, we were fortunate to find Spring Harbor here in Columbus. While we loved our beautiful home in the mountains, we were growing weary of shoveling snow, raking leaves and dealing with all the maintenance issues of home ownership. It was the perfect meeting of "need" and "place"; we love our villa and our dogs are perfectly happy with their new home too!

Upon arrival Spring Harbor appeared to be more of a resort than a assisted living facility. I was impressed as soon as i entered the gate with beautiful landscaping and grounds keeping. Some of the units are bigger and nicer than other units but all of high quality. The staff is super friendly without any sort of retirement home or hospital feel. The first thoughts of taking my grandmother to an assisted living facility were reserved but after my first visit all doubts were set free. All in all, spring harbor is not a bad place to be and i would consider living there if i live long enough!

This facility is very pleasant. I wouldnt take my aunt here though, because they only accept Medicare. Many people come there with other insurances and to not accept other insurances, poses a problem because nursing homes are so expensive. Thats probably why its only 40% occupied. I recommend it if you have Medicare.
