Morning Pointe of Calhoun had a memory care. The lady we met seemed to have very good knowledge of how to handle memory care and seemed very good to patients. They tried to have some activities. What I didn't like about it was that they cannot put full rails on the beds. They said it was against state law. Well, my mother, when she woke up, would try to get out of bed immediately and would probably fall and break her hip. They told me they could put a fall mat there, but I don't think that would have helped my mother. I don't like the fall risk. The place was clean, but I don't like the shared rooms. If my mother had gone in and had to share a room, she didn't have near enough space. However, I liked the private rooms.

Morning Pointe was a nice place that seemed to have a pretty good activity program and nice dining room. The only thing that I saw going on the day I was there was bingo. The staff was good, friendly, and very informative, and when I asked questions, they responded. They seemed to be very knowledgeable.

I do not have anyone living at Morning Pointe but have been there for Caregiver Workshops and a Support Group meetings. I took my mother-in-law to these meetings; she is the main caregiver for her 97 year old mother and her 72 year old husband, both who have dementia-the workshop was just what my mother-in-law needed and was beneficial to me as well. The facility is very nicely decorated ('homey') and clean. The staff is always very friendly, helpful and empathetic-whether you are a 'paying customer' or not. It is evident that they truly care!
