The food in Venice Center is very good. What I like the least is the response to having a problem in the room, like TV reception. The physical appearance is fine, it's very good. It's a very old place, but kept in good décor and physical situation. I think they're a little crowded. I think they're a little shorthanded. It's a very old place, but it's kept in pretty good shape. It was built in 1923. My room is clean and that's about it.

I am a resident of The Pavillion of Downtown Venice. The care has too many things they're doing like they're the med techs, they're having to do the dining room, be busboys, they're having to serve in the dining room, and they're having to clean up in the dining room. Then the next job they have to do is their meds, and then some people have to take care of the patients that need to be cleaned up and things like that. The next job they have to do is they have to do the laundry, so to me, it's too many things to do. The building was built in 1926. They're trying all the time to repair the building. When you have an old building, things are happening all the time to the building. The food is very bad. They gave us a lot of plastic. Sometimes they run out of cups. Now, we don't have a regular cook. We have a medtech who had to fill in the cook. We don't have a good cook. We had our elevator out for about weeks. We've had so many elevator troubles in this building, off and on, and that's been terrible.

I really like Venice Center. Both the people that were living and the people that were doing various things while I was there seemed to be very well supervised and taken care of. I also like the layout. It is an older building, but the location of it is more convenient for my husband to be there. The staff appeared to be very good at everything I saw them do. The place was clean. The people that I came in contact with seemed to be very happy with what they were doing. I didn't hear anybody complaining about anything. The area where they eat was very clean and very well maintained. I like the building.

I didn't like Venice Center for Independent & Assisted Living at all. It made a very bad impression on me. The gentleman whom I was supposed to meet forgot the appointment. He apologized and he said the receptionist can show me around, but the receptionist didn't know very much because she has only been there for two months. Everything was old. The house was beautiful but old from the outside, and it's terribly old on the inside. The lift was making pings so loud I could even hear it in the room we went in. A resident there said I could hear it at 4:00 in the morning. The grounds were rundown. It's in the middle of Venice, and you've got everything there.

Venice Center for Independent & Assisted Living's apartments were too small so we didn't like them. It seemed like they were too crowded and there were too many people around. It didn't impress us. The building was old. It needed some reorganization and improvement. The staff was very helpful and seemed very nice.
