I am choosing The Villages because I have another family member who has moved down there. It also offered a lot of the active amenities that I wanted. The least thing I liked about it was it was very spread out. It was not like most of the communities I looked at through Caring.com that had a central hub where people could gather. This place had those, but you would have to drive to them. The one who toured me was a real estate agent, and she was very, very helpful. I honestly didn't think that they had homes in the $200,000 range because I thought they were more expensive. And she showed me some very nice budget-type homes in the 200,000s. So, I was able to purchase one of those. It was a house and it had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. The location of this facility had a lot of shopping areas, a lot of recreation areas, pools, and activity areas spread out throughout the grounds. It was its own city and it had several zip codes. They were not only helpful in helping you find one, but once you have bought one, they were there to fix anything and they had a great home warranty kind of thing that just comes with it. You didn't have to buy anything separately. They would come in and fix everything that happens to the home for a year, whether it's plumbing or if anything breaks, or if anything isn't working the way you thought it should. They were very, very supportive and they ensured that you were satisfied with everything. They were always there on top of everything and made sure everything was clean and everything was always working.

We are in a 55+ community called The Villages. We had friends that moved here, so we came down here. We tried it. We liked it, and we stayed. It's not an apartment. It's a community. Everybody has their own house, which is one of the things we like about it. You can have maintenance, which we do. You can have meals brought in. You can have cleaning service, laundry service, and trips to the grocery store. It's a golf cart community. We have our own golf cart, which we don't normally use, but that is an option. They also have a service that will take you shopping and to the doctor. They have a recreation center, which includes a gym and meeting rooms. If you want to have a get-together, they have party rooms. You can get whatever services you want to go with that. For example, you can have food and drinks brought in, or you can have none of that and bring in your own stuff. It's all very optional. They have many activities. They have 12 golf courses and bowling alleys. They have tons of stuff, so it's very good in that category.

At The Villages, you can buy your own separate home. This is the best retirement community you could ever be in. In every direction, I have a pool within a quarter mile of me. Essentially, I have access to about 150 pools. They'll email us all the activities that are going on, and everything is free. This is perfect for retirement. Everybody here has a golf cart. Everywhere you go, there's a golf cart path. This place is set up with golf cart access to everything, like the grocery store, pool, golf, and banks. Right now, I look out my window and I can see a big beautiful green golf course. At night, this place is so quiet. I've never slept so well as I do here. When I wake up and I go to my patio, I don't hear people rushing to go to work. I hear people playing tennis or people coming by to play golf or to go to the pool. This place is a paradise for retirees. There are restaurants everywhere and you can have food delivered to your house as well. I highly recommend The Villages.

We looked at The Villages. I liked the facility, all of the amenities that accompanied it, and the location. It was independent living, so you would have a one-bedroom apartment. I would recommend it because I liked the location, and it had a lot of amenities and activities going on.
