My wife and I have lived at Westminster Oaks for 12 years now, in a house that was built for us. We love the house, and it meets our needs. We eat at home, so we don't use the central cafeteria. As a retired clergyman, we received a generous discount to our entrance fee. We had saved up for such a cost since we had decided long before to retire to a CCRC facility. After researching and touring locations all over the South, we settled upon WO as the best of all worlds. It has a lovely campus, good staff (except for the current executive director), lots of amenities such as an enclosed swimming pool, exercise classes, a good library, a very nice auditorium with regular entertainment, etc. We've also enjoyed Tallahassee which has much to offer for anyone living here. It's not overrun with tourists, has two universities and a state college. The Florida State University attracts a lot of sport fans of football, baseball, etc. They even have a circus program!

There are two things I like the least about Westminster Oaks Tallahassee. The first would be the cost. The second one is the fact that my mother doesn't get much one-on-one type attention, which at this point, she really needs. The staff is actually good. I would give a vast majority of them a 5 rating, but there's a few that are not as good. Like most facilities, sometimes they get shorthanded. When they get really hurried and worked, they get a little short tempered, in my opinion. Not that I blame them, but that's their job. They don't really address dietary needs. I've talked to them a number of times. They are good about getting away from food allergies. For those who are very intolerant to things that are highly acidic, they don't do a good job of that. They have some activities, but they don't have any that are interactive enough. They don't engage the residents. It is a group thing, and they put them in front of the TV. They said that they do educational shows, music programs, and things like that, but they just sit there and most go to sleep. The facility is very nice and very clean (which is one of the reasons we stayed there). It's bright, very open with lots of windows, and a big hallway where they can all gather. They have music programs and things sometimes. I thought Westminster Oaks Tallahassee was charging a whole lot, but they're pretty much in line with some of the other facilities. The difference for them was that we put down quite a large sum of money when moving in. She's gotten into what is a skilled nursing type situation, and the prices just jumped up.

I visited Westminster Oaks Tallahassee for my mom. The only thing that I didn't like was it wasn't quite as clean as the other places I visited. The staff was very friendly, but I noticed some residents were just there, there were no people around them. They were just sort of sitting there by themselves. The staff who gave me the tour didn't provide a lot of information. The rooms were very cramped. The young lady said, "This is a standard room. But if you want to give us $5000 more a month, we'll put her in a suite." So it seemed if you're you don't have millions of dollars, they put you in these little small rooms and if you got millions of dollars, they put you in a suite. So that was kind of a turnoff for me.

Our mother moved into assisted living in March 2022. We have taken her off campus for various family trips (approx 5). Each time we have either been given too few of her medicines, not all of her meds, etc causing us to scramble around to call Westminster Oaks, finding a local pharmacy, and picking up needed meds on our trip. This has truly put a damper on our travels…canceling activites, stressed out (due to someone’s oversight), worry about meds mom is missing due to carelessness, time spent calling and getting medicines when on our vacation, etc. This is really concerned my siblings and I. Mom is paying A LOT to live there. Mistakes like this are unacceptable!

Moving to Westminister Oaks when we were healthy was to provide us with a place that would give us needed assistance as we aged. However, BEWARE: The new memory center has only a standard covenant care license, not extended, so you can be turned away when needing additional care and you will have to go off campus for extended care. This has caught numerous residents off guard. We would not have moved here if we had known this and are considering moving out. THe rooms in memory care are small compared to other facilities around town, but the setup, services and the pricing is similar.

Westminster Oaks is wonderful. You can go from stage one to the end of the stage and I've followed quite a few friends that way, like you can have a big house, a little house, and you can move into assisted living and all of that. It's very alive there, they have buses that take you shopping, or to your doctor. I think it's the best one in Tallahassee. It's also the most expensive, but they take of their needs.

Westminster Oaks is a ten out of ten, but it's just not as convenient a location as the other one we visited. The facility and the apartments were newer and more impressive. They were beautiful apartments, beautiful buildings, and beautiful grounds. I didn't eat any food there, but they had a beautiful dining room, a library, and a gym. All I looked at was independent living. They don't show you assisted living. We looked at the two-bedroom apartments. The one we liked was 1,129 square feet, and it was nice. I didn't see that many staff. I only saw a few salespeople and they were nice, but naturally they're gonna be nice.

Westminister Oaks Retirement was an excellent facility. My mother-in-law moved into independent living and then went to assisted living. The couple times I ate there with her, I was not impressed with the food, but it's a very good facility. The activities seem very good and they did an excellent job of trying to get my mother-in-law to participate. It's expensive.

Westminister Oaks Retirement's staff was really nice. The place is very clean and well kept up. The monthly rates were very reasonable, but they do have a big buy-in. The facilities and dining room were very nice, and the food smelled wonderful. They had a chapel, reading areas, library, movie room, game room, store, and beauty shop. The place was a little older and dated but very nice.

I liked Westminster Oaks the best. They have something that's called a villa, which is a separate home. It's too expensive for me. We have a lot of friends living there. The food was good.

I really liked Westminster Oaks because their setup is different than other senior living facilities. They have houses or apartments that are in a neighborhood for those who need somebody to come in and remind them to take medication but aren’t quite at a level where they need 24-hour care. In the heart of this little community, they have a facility where each resident has their own room set up like an apartment. I got a really good feeling from it. I am pretty sure this is the one we are going into when the time comes because I like that they give you the option to bring in your own caregiver. The staff is always very cordial, very professional, and answered every question I had. They were on top of everything.

Westminster Oaks is one of the best in the area. They have a lot more entertainment for the young people because a lot of retired college professors and teachers are there. The rooms were beautiful, and I have heard very good things about the care that people get. If my friend got to the point where maybe she was bad, we might move her here because I think it is a very nice place, and she would be happy. Their pricing was good with all sorts of amenities, and it was very clean. They've got a lot of attendants there.

Westminster Oaks was the best of the ones I toured. It is the most expensive, but it offers more independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care. But my parents, who I was looking for a place for, are not interested at this time. They offer 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, and independent homes, and they provide 1 meal a day. They do have a big buy-in, which is more expensive than anywhere else, and they also have a 2-year waiting list. Their menu looked good, I have eaten their food, and the food was good. They offer a lot of programs; it is an excellent program. It has granite countertops and lets you customize some of your amenities.

We have friends at Westminster Oaks. The place was fine. Almost everyone I know liked it there. They have a venue for parties. The rooms were fine, average in size, the place was clean, and I have no complaints. They have expanded their facilities in addition to the two dining rooms, and they have a less formal place to eat.

I visited Westminster Oaks and would highly rate this place, but it’s hard to get into. A friend of mine waited for about two years to get into the place. Their service is great, and the staff is very nice. They have a pool and offer aerobic classes, bridge, and mahjong. They go out on a bus to different places.

I visited Westminster Oaks. I only met one of the staff members, who was very nice. The place was clean. They had activities like bingo, bridge, other card games, and exercise programs. They had people coming in to speak and entertain. They seemed to try and keep them busy. I did not have anything bad to say about it at all. Everything seemed to be fine, and they were very friendly.

My experience with Westminster Oaks was a good one. The staff there was very caring and respectful and treated the residents very well. They had room and apartment accommodations of any kind. The dining room there was absolutely beautiful, and their food appeared to be home-cooked. They had a separate dining room where residents could get prepared meals and also a cafe where residents could get something different. The community had a lot going on which kept the residents active and interested. In fact, residents were entitled to all the privileges of professors and could take courses at Florida State University. The courses from Florida State University were held at Westminster Oaks, so there was really a wide variety of intellectual stimulation.

We visited Westminster Oaks for my mother-in-law. It was a wonderful place, but the only thing they had available was a room that was very small, smaller than a hotel room. My mother-in-law didn't want to be confined to a place that small. That was the only problem. They had a beautiful campus, and the place was clean. Everything else about it was good. It is one of the top places in the city for retired people and people who need care.

We visited Westminster Oaks for my mother. We were very favorably impressed. Everything was very nicely done. The tour was very nice and very inclusive. They treated us to lunch so that we would experience the cafeteria. They showed us different size apartments. Even though they were occupied at the time, they made arrangements for us to see them anyway. They treated us very well, and we were very impressed. This place is a continuing care facility, which is what I was looking for my mother so she could start as independent, and then as she needed more help, she could go on to assisted living. They only showed us independent living apartments, and they were nicely laid out with modern kitchen, lots of space and big closets. It was exactly what we were looking for. Their food and dining facility were very nice. They have serve-your-own cafeteria style or they have where they actually have servers that come to the table and serve you if you are unable to walk up to the food line. The food there was very tasty and nutritious. They offered a good balanced diet.

We visited Westminster Oaks. The people that we have contact with were quite friendly, cordial, and very willing to be helpful to us. The dining facility was excellent. They have good choices of food, and they're well prepared. There were various types of accommodations from independent homes to studio apartments. The facilities that we looked at were very well kept, very neat, and quite compacted in a very pleasant setting. Also, they have almost anything you wanted to do. It was quite varied with some individual things like arts as well as plenty of group activities. I was most impressed with that. The only reason we didn't consider it is because it was out of our price range.

My grandfather was at Westminster Oaks, and it was pretty good. He stayed at the facility for a few months. I would recommend this to people who cannot get into another rehab facility.

A friend of mine has been staying at Westminster Oaks. What she has there is like a little town home. The one I looked at is really too big for me, so I probably will go with something like an apartment-type setup. The setting at Westminster Oaks is lovely and quiet. It is in the woods, kind of. Each of their little houses is secluded. You're not like stuck next to someone. There is space between your house and the next person's. That's probably the nicest feature I noticed. Also, parking is available for visitors. I like best the privacy of your own house and the ability to have space for people to visit you. It is very accessible but private. I thought it was really nice. If I still had family members with me, it would be a nice community because they are larger residences. Like in my friend's house, there are three bedrooms, a big patio outside, a big kitchen, a dining room area, and two and a half bathrooms. So it is nice if you have an extended family that will come and visit you. You don't really have any staff there. You're living on your own. The manager and the coordinators are very helpful. If you need assistance or you have to repair something, you can tell them and they will make arrangements for somebody to come over.

Westminster Oaks was really nice. They had different levels of disabilities there. It goes all the way from unassisted living, but it’s high-end stuff. I have friends that live there, and it’s top notch. There are people like retired doctors and other folks that are not doctors that live in the apartment complex, and then they have single family homes there as well. The residents are very satisfied. It’s quiet and very civilized as far as I could tell. The rooms are extremely clean because someone comes in to clean, dust, and vacuum.

The employees who deal directly with the residents are Fantastic and very caring, going above, beyond, and outside their job descriptions to help. Management personnel leave a bit more to be desired. The pool is not up to ADA specs for entering and exiting with only 1 handrail along the steps.

Westminster Oaks is a good facility. The staff I talked to were very nice, friendly and informative. However, the facility itself was not appealing. They have different floors for different levels of care. The rooms also weren't big enough. It's more like a hospital than an assisted living facility. They may very well do if they have a better set-up.

I must say I was impressed with this facility. I am in healthcare and have been in and out of many retirement communities and nursing facilities. This one was clean and welcoming. The patient's were not running around dirty or unmonitored. The staff seemed to enjoy working there and new which resident needed what. They knew which needs needed to be addressed and did so accordingly. I also noticed that the typical community smell found in many older folks homes was not present in this one. All in all I was very impressed and when looking for a place to put one of my own family members, this would be at the top of my list. I think they would be happy here with the different activities available the other friendly residents, and the knowledgeable caring staff. Of the homes I have seen, this by far is in my top five.

The facility itself was relatively nice. It was clean, although very antiseptic-smelling, and the hallways and rooms were wide and large enough. The decor was less than homely, as if they tried to make it seem more like a retirement community than an actual nursing home, so they put fake potted plants all over the place. This had the effect of seeming more like a hospital than any kind of retirement environment. There were different sections where different types of patients were. My grandmother was in the section with more Alzheimer's patients, which was a more uncomfortable section of the facility. The staff wasn't that helpful. There were almost no male nurses, so the staff was predominately female. Although they seemed to be nice, they weren't very accommodating and didn't seem to care that much about the patients. Everything was carried out at such a leisurely pace that we were always stuck waiting around. They also didn't appear to be interested in physical therapy and would instead let the residents skip it, which is obviously bad for their health and doesn't reflect their best interests. There was a communal dining room and my family ate there a few times. The food was disgusting, and involved overly-boiled carrots.

The staff was very personable every time I was there, they always made sure that we had space to unpack instruments and enough space to set up. Once, as a group with my church, one of the church members who resides there took us on a tour so that we could see what was available to them. It was amazing! They have a salon, a movie theatre, a second hand store, everything. Recently, they acquired an organ and they used it for a silent film event they were hosting. It's just amazing, they do things with the community as a whole and reach out to college students, allowing us to do practice recitals and concerts and more, really creating a broad understanding of the unique environment that is Tallahassee. They strive to keep the people residing in their facility as independent as possible for as long as they can. I've never heard anything negative about it and those that I've met who live there really enjoy it. The location is beautiful as well.

The staff was very helpful and the buildings were super nice, especially the town-home style homes. The facilities were top-of-line including a small "town square" set of shops, game rooms, etc. where residents could spend their time. The food was very good and the cafeteria staff were among the nicest of the staff members. The actual rooms were somewhat small but I really only saw rooms that were for mostly immobile patients so others may have been bigger if needed. They have everything I would imagine someone would need in a retirement community.

My grandmother transferred to Westminster Oaks from Westminster Shores in St. Petersburg, Florida. She had come to the end of her money and ready to enter an Assisted-Living facility but wanted to be near my mother and I in Tallahassee. We originally were told that she would be on the first floor with the more "cognizant" individuals. When we arrived, however, she was placed on the second floor with the incoherent, particularly her roommate, who introduced herself to you constantly. After my grandmother was moved in (which was difficult due to needing "approval" for all the furniture), my grandmother decided to attend one of the events in the dining room down the hall. She was not very enthused to learn that she would be the only one, among 10 people sitting there, capable of participating. After that she decided that she would rather sit on my couch all day than be in that environment. The only reason my grandmother needed to be placed in an ALF was to ensure that she wore her oxygen and took her pill's, otherwise she was "sharp as a tack." Unfortunately, for those very reasons, Westminster Oaks decided she needed to stay on that 2nd floor. It was disappointing, but luckily we had very nice staff that were very helpful and always present and available to her. The food was always great and my grandmother always insisted on being "home" for dinner. The one thing that I liked the most was simply the design of the interior of the facility itself; large halls with lampposts down the center with park benches to sit on, and room doors and exteriors mimicking mini houses with flower boxes and windows.Overall, Westminster Oaks was a wonderful facility, but the floor confusion really did become a source of stress for the whole family. I would have understood putting her on that floor in a private room, perhaps, but that was not the case.

Westminster Oaks in Tallahassee, Fl is a wonderful place to retire and really enjoy life. With so many activities it is hard to choose those to go to and or participate in. I highly recommend it to anyone, especially young retirees (under seventy!) By coming early, you get the benefits of on going health care that is usually not available elsewhere. It is like living in a resort with all the concerts, physical activities, movies, etc. I have been here one and a half years and I have not passed a single person who did not smile and say hello and that includes the marvelous staff. Please come and join us at Westminster.

I visited this facility and I did not like what I smelled or saw. The place smelled like urine and the patient were hard to contain. I was there to sing for the patients and the staff was not prompt in getting the patients into the meeting room. I also did a tour because I was thinking of my elderly parents. We must've waiting about 1/2hour before all the patients were in the room. I saw very little attentive staff interacting with the patients. One positive about the visit is that they had secure doors to the facility. We could hardly get someone's attention to let us in, so I know their patients could not escape. Walking in this facility, it did not feel like home. This facility feels like an institution. The colors of the walls did not help make me feel at home. The hallway we had to walk down, felt small, maybe because of all the people in wheelchairs that were in the hall. The nurses' station was behind glass and doors and felt so impersonal.

My client wanted somewhere thats live!! This is it! From tennis, to swimming, to pool tables, gyms and much much more. If I ever need nursing home care, this will be one of my top picks. The be fit, live well, stay active program is EXACTLY what my client is needing. The family wants her to stay active, not lounging or laying around majority of the day. From recent reports, Westminster received a 4.2 overall average. But they get 5 stars in my book!!!

My great aunt (age 95) resides in the health center area of Westminster Oaks. Although confined to a wheelchair (she has had several strokes) her mind is still sharp and she remains as active as her wheelchair will allow. She still takes herself to the dining room for her meals each day, and although she resides in the health center area, each time I have visited I have been impressed by the homey, neighborhood feel of that area. Even though it is a medical facility designed to provide long-term care, the hallways are designed to look like neighborhood streets and entrances to the patient rooms look like the front doors of home. The nursing staff are friendly and caring, and my great aunt is able to keep several pieces of her own furniture in her room for a more homey feel. Although her room is only semi-private, there is a partial wall that divides her space from her roommates and she is quite comfortable with the level of privacy. She also enjoys the well-manicured and beautifully-landscaped grounds at Westminster Oaks and has a fantastic view from the large window in her room. There are also plenty of activities and classes for the residents designed to keep their minds and bodies active and healthy. My aunt jokes that she doesn't like playing bingo, but she has plenty of other choices when it comes to how she spends her free time. All in all, I feel wonderful knowing my elderly relative is receiving excellent care from the compassionate and well-trained medical staff at Westminster Oaks.
