I moved into Aviva Senior Living. It was good and what I expected. I like the friendly people. It's a lot of walking, but there's a lot of facilities. The room is very well constructed. They have a great variety of activities. In the evening, they have films and musicals. They have walking clubs, bridge clubs, mahjong, and various things.

I like that Aviva Senior Living is clean and that it doesn't smell. I like the idea of living in a community like that. They have a library, a hair salon, and a swimming pool. The staff who gave the tour was friendly. The dining area looked nice. It was well lit and spacious. The facility looked good. They have concerts and lectures there, too.

We went to Aviva Senior Living. It was excellent, brand new. The rooms were excellent, and most of them hadn't even been lived in. They had covered parking. Everything was super, super clean, and the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. We did not eat there, but the dining area was very clean. At the time we visited there were people in there playing cards.

Aviva Senior Living appeared very nice. However, the monthly fees were a bit high. The gentleman who conducted the tour was very forthright, was quite knowledgeable of the facility, and was able to go over things very clearly. We've reviewed a one-bedroom facility. It had a walk-in shower. It has a kitchen, so you can prepare your own meals if you choose. The calendar of activities appeared full. This is more of a higher educated group that gravitates there based on the type of things offered in their activities such as classical music options as well as the literary things available. They have an activities room and a gym. I enjoyed meeting the director of that facility. They also have rehab services. They have a salon for men and women for their haircuts and other programs such as nail service. The dining area was nice. It appeared on the small side, but it's going to be expanded. They had an active carryout service there for residents who wanted to take their meals to their room. They offered us the opportunity to return for a meal. It was very clean.

I went to Aviva Senior Living for a tour. It's a property that needs renovation. It doesn't feel as homey as some of the other places. A lot of the residents were sitting down in a lobby as soon as you walked in. They didn't serve me a meal, but they had hors d'oeuvres, and it was not memorable. The apartments are OK, but there's only a few larger ones. Some of them are studios. The place could use renovation in so many ways. Aviva Senior Living was a place I kind of crossed off my list. They didn't have enough large apartments, and I don't want to live cramped up. The grounds are very nice. It is in a very nice part of town, so that's something positive.

Aviva Senior Living seemed rundown and not clean. I did not like it. I did not like the atmosphere. I don't know how old it is, but it was not maintained very well. It was poorly maintained. They have all the levels of care. The fellow we talked to was too controlling, too much talking about money, and not enough about the facilities. We saw the dining room and the pool. We were there a long time, much longer than we should have been. They had a gym and a meeting room, but it was all dark and dingy. The atmosphere was unpleasant.

Aviva Senior Living was extremely nice. It was very clean. The staff was welcoming. The residents were happy and the food was excellent. We did eat lunch there. It was chef prepared and it was excellent. I loved the building layout. The grounds were very tropical, nice, and green. The rooms were spacious. The room that we visited had a window that looked out on some really beautiful landscape and it would be very accommodating and welcoming to anyone who uses a walker.

We liked Aviva Senior Living the best. It was a very friendly place. The lady who assisted us was extremely friendly. She even sent us a copy of their contract. She was upfront about costs. We liked it because no matter where we went in that facility, people were just super, super friendly. The rooms were more like small apartments and they had a small kitchen. Some had a laundry included in that room, whether you had to provide the washer and dryer or they provided it, the hookup was there in some. If we were to go to a facility right now, it would be Aviva Senior Living. It was affordable for us. They recognized and accepted the VA benefit for us. They just met all our criteria. It's a Jewish community, but there was no restriction on the denomination. But on Friday nights, men have to wear a suit jacket to dinner. Also, we are vegetarian, and every meal at Aviva Senior Living offered a vegetarian option, which was nice. It was a multi-level facility, and it was very clean.

Aviva Senior Living seemed nice. They had a nice courtyard for the memory care residents to walk out to. The salesperson was helpful and answered my questions. Their units were adequate. They were single bedrooms. The cleanliness looked good.

I was very impressed with Aviva Senior Living. I liked it. If I had to choose a place tomorrow, I would choose this place. It is very close to where I am living now, so if I live there, I could still maintain my membership in the clubs and activities that I now belong to. All the apartments and the units were very well-appointed. If they were older, most of them had been updated, so they were modern. The grounds were nice and the buildings were well-kept. It was all very positive. Everybody I dealt with was very, very accommodating, very polite, and very professional.

This facility is old and not maintained well. Staff have been leaving like there's a virus in this facility, but it's due to working conditions. If you are thinking of moving a loved one into this facility, please be sure to check out other places as well. The food is not up to par and 99% of the residents have been complaining about it for awhile. The units aren't cleaned well and the carpets throughout the building are very dirty. There are many activities for residents to participate in, which is a plus. The highlight of this place are the residents. The ones I've met are very warm and caring.

I have chosen Aviva Senior Living. I would have independent living, but I would have my long-term care do home care for me there. I like that they're nonprofit and religious-based, and I like their pricing, too. The staff who gave me the tour was very, very helpful and very knowledgeable. I saw their apartment and one thing I like about it, it's monthly and not buy-in. They're very nice, efficient, and very livable. The dining area is very clean, attractive, and spacious, and I have copies of the menus. It's predominantly Jewish. I'm not Jewish, but there are enough Christians there to make it OK. The living atmosphere there was very comfortable and open. I've talked to three residents that were there, just at random out, in the entry and the hall, and one had been there 10 years, another had been 6 years and they were both very happy there. The facility is very cheerful, clean, and very appealing.

I would rate Aviva Senior Living a 5 all the way across because that's probably the one I will be going into. Matt took me around and explained everything to me. The property is almost 30 acres, so it has beautiful grounds with ponds, fountains, and a swimming pool (that I absolutely liked). It was covered and screened in. It has so much green space. They will accept pets, and that they can take them around the whole campus since they have very secure walkways. They can also accept residents and people from other places during a hurricane, if they have the space. The independent living has choices of one-bedroom, one bath with kitchen (a full kitchen), and a two-bedroom. If you have to move to assisted living, you can stay in the same complex. The cleanliness was good. There wasn't anything out of place, and I went there actually unexpectedly. I just went in their door to find out if they would do tours, then the receptionist said, "Well, since you're here, Matt is available today. Would you like to speak to him?" I didn't even make an appointment. He has been following up with me since then, but he's not putting any pressure on me to make a decision.

Of the three places i visited, this one was the best - also the most expensive. Much nicer than Desoto Beach Club which was nearby, although the Desoto Beach Club has more attractive hallways with much nicer art than Aviva. But Aviva has more closets in the unit. And the additional storage room lockers were handy. Separate kitchen was nice. But Aviva is not at all fancy. Aviva would benefit by dolling up their hallways with art such as Desoto Beach Club has. Aesthetics would help to cheer up the institutional look.

From my point of view, its hard to match, or beat, the Aviva (formerly Kobernick Anchin) senior residence. The facilities, rooms, and staff are simply delightful, and always helpful. Being Jewish is a positive point, while nobody is imposing or recruiting anyway. From the overall atmosphere, to the food, activities, and (NICE) people, I would score a 9.8 (out of 10) for Aviva. Its a clear choice with many preferences to appreciate!! Dave

Aviva was fairly upscale and predominantly Jewish. They served Kosher food. There were decent-sized apartments but very small closets. The staff was excellent. While we were there, somebody was in the pool exercising and there was a group of residents playing cards. We had snack and lunch at the snack bar. A lot of the activities are out-of-state tours, so they are well organized for travel.

I visited Kobernick House. It was very nice, and it was run partly by the Jewish federation. They would take me in as independent living and would recede me to assisted living and unto death. The staff was very good. The layout of the room was very nice. I would take a two room apartment with living room and a bedroom with a small kitchenette. They had a pool.

My husband has been in Kobernick for about a month and a half now. Unfortunately, I think we were given the wrong information. I asked if it is was non-denominational, and they said it was. However, with nothing against Jewish people, since my husband is not Jewish, there isn’t much there that is common to him. The activities are quite limited. We didn’t realize that they have a lot of Jewish religious activities and diet. We weren’t given that impression when we first entered him there. The main problem is that we weren’t given enough information. Also, when he first entered, there wasn’t anyone to direct or help him.

I know many residents and relatives of residents who have been very happy with the care at Kobernick House. They have a memory unit and assisted living unit, have activities for the residents, provide transportation to physicians, and arrange shopping trips in a van for those who can manage. The apartments are very satisfactory. The efficiency was just a big one-bedroom with a little kitchen area. The staff was caring and concerned about the residents. It just doesn't fit in with what I need for my brother because he needs a different level of care.

My parents’ room at Kobernick - Anchin is a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment. My mother needs assistance, so we have caregivers coming in for her. The facility is very good, though very expensive, but the services are top-rate. It’s lovely to be able to go down to dinner every night dressed well; men wear jackets -- no blue jeans, no tank tops, no shorts. They order off the menu, and these lovely young people serve their food to them. They do special occasions in the dining room. For example: during my mom’s birthday, they had balloons on her table and ordered champagne. It was just lovely. The staff is very caring and extremely helpful. For all the money that you’re paying, you’re getting every service that you can possibly imagine. Housekeeping is included; they come every week and wash the linens and whatever laundry you have. My parents are very happy, so we are very satisfied. My parents are Jewish, and they have everything for Jewish people. I have nothing to complain aboutwith this facility. For the money and for the atmosphere, it is the best for my parents.

I’ve been to Kobernick-Anchin several times. It’s beautiful and it’s well-kept. They’re constantly fixing and repairing things. The appliances there are fairly new. I had lunch there; it was delicious. It was after the lunch hour, we were the only ones in the dining room, and the staff just bent over backwards to take care of us. The dining room is beautiful. The residents have a choice of menu. If they’re making a one-main dish and if you don’t like it, you have a choice of something else. The food is Kosher style so if you’re Jewish, there’s food you can eat which is a plus. It has a pool, a little lunch room, and a physical fitness room. It has a great activity program. They do a lot of outside trips. They also have service if you need to go to a doctor appointment. They have a community bus that takes you into the city or whatever events they’re going to. They take them to services on Friday night. I go there every other week to play cards. One of the women from my mahjong group lives there. I have friends that just moved in, and I have friends that have been there for quite a while, and they’re all very happy with it.

I have been the caregiver of 2 people at the Kobernick House for 3+ years. Yes, the business side of this facility need improvement but the level of care is terrific. One of my parents was in the nursing care facility and the other is in independent living. Yes, it bothered us when the parent in the nursing home had a cold and their nose ran without being wiped BUT, they were bathed and clothed daily. They were fed and well cared for, teethed brushed and treated with dignity. The workers do a good job, and it is not an easy one. As for the assisted living, yes people need to be dressed, a jacket for the men, in the dining room except for Sunday dinner when this is relaxed. But understand this is based on the residents/board of director's voting, NOT the owners of the facility. Caring for our elders is not an easy task and it is a tough job fr the workers. While I had a lot of small issues with the facility I NEVER questioned the level of care provided. The facility is spotless and they do a good job.

My grandmother is at this facility and I am so upset that they just increased her rent 500 dollars a month after only 1-2 years of living there. They don't seem to care if she can't afford the increase. I have never heard of a place that increases your rent that much. The facility is nice but the business side of this place is a disaster and they seem to only be after your money.

We visited Kobernick House which is Jewish. They provide meals that look nice and require you to dress up for dinner where residents have to wear a jacket or dress which is unusual. It's independent living. They provide dinner but you can get lunch or breakfast if you want for an additional cost. Smoking is allowed in the units. They're nice but very expensive. One thing they can improve on is not require the residents to dress up at every meal which was too much for my dad.

We were delighted to visit the Anchin Pavilion in the area while in the vicinity - checking out assisted living facilities in the area for my friend's mother. Our tour of the outside grounds was lovely; there were flowers and shrubs everywhere, with nice seating areas. The staff was very friendly and all seemed to really like their jobs. The main living areas were fresh, clean and sunny with a contemporary, yet homey décor. The staff seemed to go out of their way to suggest stimulating things to do - from gardening, to reading, playing games and outings in the community. The variety of activities offered was impressive. Just about any hobby you might have can be accommodated - and more. The rooms we viewed were all very clean, well-kept and inviting - kind of resembling what you might find at a quaint motel, but more personal. The lunch while there looked really delicious. The menus had a lot of options with healthy foods. They also take special requests. Snacks are offered frequently and whenever requested. The exercise room was large and had a variety of options to choose from with nice equipment and daily classes. Overall, this was a really well-designed facility that looked like a great place for seniors to live, with everything then need.
