I have a reletive who resides there. I've visited in the last month. The conditions are deplorable. The food is inedible and on 2 occasions dead roaches were in his dinner. He has lost 80 pounds in 5 years and is now close to death. The staff does not provide services they advertise. This place needs to be shut down. Please do not send your loved ones there.

I lived in Westpointe Retirement Community. The food was horrible, not even edible, we did get our medications, but they never came to see us or anything, and many people would fall, and they would take hours to get there. They didn't do anything, we were locked in our rooms, and we had to stay there. We were not actually locked by key, but when we came out the door we were told to go back to our room. Of course COVID is dangerous, we understand, but the food was inedible, and unsanitary, and a lot of the workers didn't wear masks.

Upon visiting Westpointe, it all seems good. However they don't follow through with what they advertise. My relative has been there a few years and the quality had declined over the years. The food is fair and inconsistent. They don't provide enough calories to maintain adequate weight - my relative has lost over 30 lbs without needing to. The cook does not adjust for even simple dietary needs. The one posted activity of bingo is inconsistently held. Outings are only to shopping, and the driver does not assist in carrying bags on & off the van. Some of the assistant staff have been there a long time and are very good. However there is a high turnover of "newer ones" who have little experience. Response to the urgent call bells is slow to non-existent. "Room cleaning" consists of passing a vacuum over the exposed pathway, no dusting, fair cleaning of bathroom. The place is over-run with roaches, flies & mice. Roaches & flies are in the dining room. Supposedly, they use an exterminator. Management is unresponsive or dismissive of residents complaints, and even "offer them to leave if they don't like it" . Only positive is size of the rooms.

Westpointe Retirement Community is fine. It is a good home, and the prices are good. The staff is good, but if you are expecting two aides at night, you are not going to get that. If you have a parent that needs a higher level of care, but not need a skilled nursing, then you will have to pay separate for a second aide at night. The rooms are nice, and for the money, they are a good size. However, it is not good for somebody who is too reliant on an aide. You pretty much have to be an independent senior citizen. You are mainly just there to have someone remind you to take your medicine and provide occasional assistance. They will provide bathing and do laundry for you for an extra cost. You are paying for a studio with a kitchen and a bathroom. Everything else is extra.
