I have chosen Manatee River for my wife. The overall impression is that it is homey. It feels like home rather than an institution. The staff is excellent. Two of them are owners, one of them has been there forever, and the rest of them are just regular workers. One of the owners and one of the staff are nurses, so they got two nurses that are on duty all the time. It's very handy to me. It's only a few blocks to where I live, so it falls in line with what we're looking for. My wife is in the assisted living part. My brother is also there, so that's another reason why. Manatee River is homey and nice. They have dining areas all over the place, so you don't just go into one big mess hall. I like it; it's very good. They're setting up a parade in December and this will be our second parade. They would get the residents outside and line them up on the sidewalk. We can't go near them, but we can drive by in our cars and wave at them. It's either that or twice a week we can go in and see them for half an hour. Of course, no touching. I like the food. My brother likes it. He gets fat off of it. I ate a meal with him one day and it was very good. Their menu board is really nice. My brother is getting fat, but my wife is getting skinny. Well, the food is good. My brother is pretty picky about his food, so it must be good.

My ex-husband is at Manatee River. I’m very happy with it and like it a lot. One of the nice things about it is that the owner operates and runs it, so it's not a chain of any kind. The dining room is a very cheery, nice, and sunny place. The food is nutritious and seems as though the residents like it. They have the usual activities that most of them at that age can enjoy, like bingo, games, checkers, and exercises. The facility is several years old, but everything is always clean, and there are a lot of safety features to make sure that residents are safe.

I moved my mom to an assisted living. She is now on Manatee River, and I love it. She loves it so much that she doesn't even want to come home. She has made friends, and she likes the food. She does the exercises, and she goes to church. She can come home with me if she wants to. They are just way awesome there. It is family owned and orientated. They have a little dog that wanders around there and a Seeing Eye dog that is there for the residents. The price is very reasonable, and the staff is outstanding. Manatee River is very affordable because it is private pay. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would have to give them a 10.

Manatee River was nice. It was rather worn; it was an older building. They had pleasant people and a very nice staff. The owner that showed us around was very nice. They have done a lot of updates there. It was just kind of closed-in, not very spread out. It made me feel a little claustrophobic. Their dining room was just a little alcove, and the area where she would be, I didn't think she would like.

I like Manatee River Assisted Living. It's a really nice place. The rooms are great and of good size. The staff was very friendly and gave me a bunch of paperwork. They had quite a lot going on the facility, like movies once a week. They also had handicap buses.

Manatee River Assisted Living is located in Palmetto Florida near the Manatee River. It is a small facility that is more like being at home than a nursing facility. They cater to both residents and respite care. I have used the facility for respite care numerous times for my mother. She is 90 years old and has Alzheimer's disease. The staff is very friendly and understands the challenges associated with this dreadful disease. There is a special section at Manatee River Assisted Living for guests like my mother that is secured so she is not unable to get out unless escorted by a nurse, staff or family member. Each meal is served in a dining room that is in a home like atmosphere. The residents all sit around a table together and enjoy their meals and each others company. Each day there are activities planned and outside groups often visit to sing or minister. The guests are always delighted when the owner brings in his beautiful dog. I would recommend Manatee River Assisted Living for anyone who is looking for a place to live where they have the freedom to go and come, but the assurance that a knowledgeable nursing staff is nearby if they need assistance. Or, for anyone like me who is a caretaker, and only needs a place on occasion to take their loved one.
