We went to tour Mission Oaks. It was lovely. It was a very nice community. They have staff that they have retained for years, so that's a very good sign. They had a doctor on staff, and they had nurses. It was very nice. The rooms were nice and adequate. They did not have washers and dryers in the units, and that's my mother's main concern. She likes to do her own laundry, and she doesn't like to do it outside of her apartment; it was the only thing. They have drinks and partying going on, but they didn't have a bar set-up. Where she lives, it has a bar. That's important for her social life right now to go to a bar. The dining area was lovely, but we did not stay for lunch. It was nice, and it was very homey. The place was lovely, but it fell short on those two things for my mom. She didn't want to give up those two things. The staff who toured us was very nice. She answered all our questions, and she's the one who took us around to show us all the things that were available. It was a very pleasant experience. There was no pool. They had a library. They had a card room, and they had a soda shop where they had their social events. It was very, very small, which was really nice. It had under 100 people in the assisted living, so that was nice. The facility was beautiful.

Our tour experience at Mission Oaks was good. The gal was nice. The cost of the room was cheaper. If you want somebody to do the laundry, there's a personal price of $50 a month. Then the one-time fee is $2000. The only issue we had was that it's an older building. They had a common area for washers and dryers and transportation to outside activities. They also theur bed linen, clean the room once per week, and available advanced care. There's no Medicaid, though. The staff had been working there for quite a few years. So, that means they can hang on to people and that's a good thing.

My husband has been living in Mission Oaks and the level of care is good. My husband's not complaining so far. He likes it there and things are going very well. The staff is very good and the front office is very helpful. I'm also very pleased with the rooms. He has a studio and it's freshly painted and has a new carpet. He enjoys the meals. It's good, and he has his own refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot. They do play cards, putting puzzles together, sitting out in the sun, and things like that.

The staff is fantastic at this facility. The activities is great - the leadership is fantastic. You could not ask for a better group of people to take care of your Mom or Dad. You have these huge corporate facilities - where it is only about the money and no staffing what-so-ever. I don't understand - what they are saying about the food they have a full restaurant style menu. Versus my mother used to stay at one of the corporate - resort buildings and they only 2 entree's per lunch or dinner. The food is excellent here. The Turkey Club is absolutely the best. Regardless, if you want your family taken care of - this is the place to go. If you want your parents to stay at a resort and no care - take your parents - to the non caring corporate buildings.

My parents moved from northern Wisconsin to Mission Oaks Assisted Living about 18 months ago. My husband and I looked at many facilities, but when we walked into Mission Oaks we both looked at each other and said "this is it". The atmosphere was homey, and the many staff and residents we met were so friendly and welcoming. The best thing was that everyone seemed happy! My parents and our family were made to feel such a part of their family. Staff are so caring, and very quick to respond to questions or concerns. When my dad became very ill Mission Oaks and Cornerstone Hospice worked together to make his last months as comfortable as possible, and his face lit up with a smile when any of the staff came into his room. After his passing I thought it might be difficult for mom to remain there with all the memories, but as she says "this is my home, these are my friends, and this is where I am staying". She loves the many activities and socializing with her neighbors. We love that she is close by, as independent as possible, and most of all so happy!

Mission Oaks Senior Living is doing a fine job, but the food quality is not really good. I've eaten there a few times, but I wouldn't want to eat there every day. Other than that, everything is OK. The nursing staff seems to be very interested in caring for Mother. The CNA Mom has is constantly calling me and updating me. They seem to be doing very well with everything other than the food.

There is a place called Mission Oaks that was very nice. I was very impressed with this facility. Their activities sounded good. They had a lovely outdoor area for their memory care people. They didn't lock them down somewhere. They have a screened porch. They have an outside garden area, where the people can go out and sit outside, and they could take their meals outside. I was very impressed with the fact that they would allow their Alzheimer's/dementia people outside anytime they wanted to go. The lady that showed us around was very helpful and very nice. She had a lot of information to give.

We found one for my mother-in-law named Mission Oaks in Oxford. We looked at various places, and we decided that it was the right place for her. It wasn't a tremendously big facility, and it is all on one floor. Many of them have elevators, but she is 96 years old and unable to handle all of that. The food was excellent. They had us there several times for lunch and dinner, and they were very good. We liked the rooms. The rooms were a little larger than some of them. She is in an efficiency apartment.

My husband was at Mission Oaks for six months. I asked them if they would knock out a hole so that we could have two rooms, and they wouldn’t do it. Otherwise, I would’ve stayed right there. The facility was fabulous. They wouldn’t open up two rooms and put a pocket door in between, so we would have two apartments together adjoining. That’s why I went and put a deposit down at another facility. When he was there, he only had one room, and it’s all he needed. But for the two of us, I would want two rooms, where you can make one into a living room and one into a bedroom. The staff is friendlier than even here at where we are; there’s a difference in nature. The place was very clean. They had a lot of activities that my husband went to. I even went to some of them, too. They had entertainment, and they had movies. They would have a monthly birthday party with a buffet. Whatever they did, it was always terrific, and they had a bus that took you out.

My parents are in Mission Oaks. They have a small one-bedroom unit. There's a little refrigerator and a microwave. This facility does have activities for their residents. They do have movie nights a couple of nights a week. They have a little theater there. They have like a little soda shop place too. With regards to meals, my parents do get all their meals at the dining room. Their food is good. They have one special in the evening and at lunch time. They have a menu you can choose from. My dad loves it. The staff is very nice, very friendly and very helpful. However, I think they need more staff and nurses in that area. They need someone at their front desk later than 5 p.m. Right now, nobody is at the front desk after 5. They would lock the door at 8 pm, and if you come in after 8 p.m., you have to push a little intercom and hope that somebody is in the room to open the door to let you in. My father got locked out one night.

I visited Mission Oaks for a friend of mine's mother. This place was small and intimate, but clean and well-kept. The staff also were very friendly and kind. The food there was better than what you get in most restaurants. It was delicious.

So far, I want to say Mission Oaks is okay. The only thing is we're having a little dispute regarding the bill. We chose this facility because the fee they told us was all-inclusive for a dementia care. But when we got our bill, they added $500 to it every month and they said because dementia care costs more. We were never told that's what's going to happen. We even had to pay a $2,000 initiation fee even before we went in. So we are meeting with the administrators next week. Right now, I don't know if I'm too happy with them with the things that are happening. But I like the care that they provide my father. The facility itself is excellent and beautiful. They've got ice cream parlor and a movie theater. The doctors and the physical therapists are right there in the building. They have a shuttle service that handles handicap, which he is, and they can take them to their appointments. My dad says the food is so good. He said they have the best dinner rolls he's ever had. The services they provide were awesome, but we were told one thing and then something else happened with the billing cycle. Hopefully, we'll get that straightened out. My dad's been there since October.
