I like it here in Southern Gardens. We have bingo every night and the food is good. The staff is excellent and the place is definitely clean.

The Gardens of Lake Alfred was the worst place. We had to move my brother out of there. The staff members were awful (from the manager down to the cleaning lady). They were not attentive. From our experience, they were careless with the residents, and were very nasty to a point. They ignored the needs of their residents. From the outside, it had a nice curb appeal and was kept really nice, but not on the inside.

I toured Southern Gardens in Lake Alfred in person. I would not recommend it. I thought it was horrible, and that's my personal opinion. I will never put my father there. It was very depressing. The cleanliness and the rooms were deplorable. The doors were open and you could look in the rooms, and that was just deplorable. The staff was friendly though.

Southern Gardens was a beautiful place, but it is over my sister's budget. It was very clean and very organized. I happened to get there at a time when their staff got together. They do that every morning to make sure that everybody is on the same page. The individual rooms were nice. The private room had a private bath, which was quite nice. It seemed like that they really care about their residents, and that's important. They had a lot to offer as far as activities provided you are able to do those activities. Everyday they were doing some activity. They also brought in entertainment. I was very impressed with that, but it was a little too pricey and it was a little far away. The menu looked wholesome. It looked like they would accommodate special diets. The staff members were very friendly. They wanted to help in any way they could. I was very impressed with the fact that the staff members sit down with each other and they go over everything as far as the care of the residents. The place was awesome and well maintained. The furniture was clean and well taken care of. Some of it was new.

My friend is in Southern Gardens. The staff seems to be pretty good and take care of them. They go on outings, like to play golf, shop at Wal-Mart, and go to lunch. You get a two-person room, and he has a separate room by himself. They have their own bathroom and shower and everything else in each room. They seem to be pretty nice. They've been redoing the place.

Southern Gardens is assisted living, and they try to do as much as they can, but my mother has gotten to the point where she needs more care than they are able to give her. She has fallen quite a few times and is not looked after as much as she needs, but it is not their fault. It is close to where I am and everyone is very good and very nice, but they can only do so much. They are not doing a bad job.

My mother has lived here. They worked with her income, gave her things she needed without us asking and worked with us when we felt mom needed something. The only reason I can't give 5 stars, the place is old and has some issues every now and again (elevators, a/c units, and carpets not vacuumed b/c the vacuum cleaner was useless). The staff is superb and very accommodating. They have a great activities director, a car and a bus for taking residents to appointments and excursions, a beautician who comes in once a week, a large lobby and dining room, and their courtyard is beautiful. The only reason I have had to move my mother is due to her dementia progression. She has become a flight risk and aggressive/confrontational because she wants to go "home" and they are not a locked-down facility. I hate having to move her because nothing in her price range will be as nice as Southern Gardens. I would recommend them.

Southern Gardens Assisted Living is a nice and very clean place. We’re still getting my mother situated in there. It’s close to me for one thing, and they supply anything that we need so far. The rooms are very spacious. The biggest problem is that the door is not locked out front, so I just sit there keeping an eye out for her, and hopefully that will be fine. The staff is very nice and very accommodating; they answer all my questions. My mother says the food is great.

Southern Gardens have a lot of nurses on staff and everyone worked well together. The facility is very spacious and I didn’t hear anybody complained about the food.

Southern Gardens was clean and a nice place to live in. It had a nice surrounding outside and it was in town so they could walk to different places. My uncle was well taken care of when he lived there. His was in a small shared room. They had activity programs and they took them on trips.
