We liked the Academy very much, and the staff was very nice, but the distance between the living areas and the dining room was too much to handle. The price was good. We loved the two-bedroom apartment with a garage. That would be our first choice if it was located closer to the gardens.

My father is in Academy Assisted Living. The staff is helpful and doing a good job. The atmosphere is good, casual, and relaxed. The dining area is nice, and the food is good. Maybe they can do a little modernizing. However, we are pretty happy with them.

My mother has been in Academy Assisted Living Facility for four months now. It's clean, it's small, it's more family oriented. It is also more hands-on. There are plenty of activities here. They have bingo, an art class, movie time, and they also have a gentleman come in to sing for them. It's very, very active. She's got her own room and it's affordable. We didn't have to depend on the state, it was something that she is financially able to do on her own.

There was a very positive atmosphere at this facility. The food that my brother used to cook for the elderly and sick people at the facility was top notch. The caregivers were very friendly and actually cared about the needs of residents. The property was very clean and well landscaped. The facility was also down the road from Lawnwood Memorial Hospital so if there were any emergencies the residents would be taken care of immediately. The residents also had alot of activies to participate in such as bingo, arts and crafts, and trips to go shopping, oout to resturaunts, and to events. I never heard of the residents or their family members complain about anything that I know of. Also the staff members had a very well kept medical list of the residents showing what health problems the residents had and also what prescriptions they take and there were no problems with wrong dosages or giving out wrong medicines. Overall it was a very good and well kept facility.

I really like this facility compared to the other one my great grandmother was in before this one. The staff is very friendly and helpful every time my husband and I go to visit. The common areas, as well as my great grandmother's room is always clean and smells fresh. The facility is located near the hospital, which is reassuring that if anything happens to any of the patents that they are close by and don't have to go far to get to the emergency room. The staff makes sure that the patients have things to do, such as bingo, arts and crafts and even just watch television in the common area. They also welcome family to come for family night as well as on holidays when they throw a small party for the patients. My biggest complaint about the facility is that the staff open my great grandma's mail so I have to send any letter I want to keep between myself and her has to be sent to my mother's house and she takes it to her. I was also pleased that when my great grandma tried to give away an angel I gave her for christmas to one of the nurses, the nurse made sure that my mother was given the angel so that it could be given back to me.

A family Friend named Jerome resided in the Academy Assisted Living Facility in Fort Pierce for a few months before passing and I was able to visit with him there. The staff was always friendly and caring. There was always someone ther to help him(Jerome). Jerome really felt he was being taken care of quite well. With him being taken care of so well I had no problem leaving him there because I knew he was in a safe place. While being physically and mentally disabled was hard and I know Jerome had an attitude at times I never saw anyone mistreat him. The area was always clean and everything was in its place. The Academy Assisted Living Facility was great to my friend and my family and I reccomend this facility to anyone looking for a permanent or temporary home. The great staff really make the experience more pleasant for all involved. Thank You.

My grandmother, has always been Ms.Big Personality there was no stopping her, not even the biggest of problems could put her down. Her big personality went down, as she got older we noticed a big change in personality, she was always in pain and didn't want to do as much we had no choice it was out of our hands not even my family could take care of her so we decided to put her in assisted living so not only we could have a more functional life but she could also, they took good care of her, whenever she needed someone there by her side they sent someone to her room for her. they where great! my grandmother even started to make friends with people in the near by rooms around her. the activities they have here are amazing. but the sicker she got the, less the seem to be able to do for her, the less she and my family liked her being there. My grandmother did pass away, while in her stay there but she was Very Sick. we believe they did do there best they could while she was there. over all i would give this place a 3 out of five stars because her stay was very good but it also could have been improved.
