Everyone I come into this community it’s so welcoming, staff are so friendly and helpful, it’s very beautiful here. We loved the activities and the programs they now offer since they are under new management called RUI. They did change the name of the community to Seaside at Fort Myers and we are so happy with all the new changes we see when we visit. Highly recommend them

About Seaside at Fort Myers in Fort Myers, Florida
Here, boredom has been banished and replaced with opportunities to learn, places to explore, and new friends to meet. First among those friends will be our team members, who generally have the humor of Jerry Lewis and the charm of Clark Gable. Your loved ones will live in a community that’s modern and well-lit. And the view? Strictly primo. Our property sits beside a picturesque lake with an arcing fountain, and a secure nature trail. We’re located just off San Carlos Boulevard.
We have two living options under one roof.
Assisted Living is ideal for residents who value their independence but may need assistance with daily activities. Our community team members are raving fans of encouraging independence with assistance readily accessible at all times of day.
Memory Care is for our Elders who are living with some form of memory loss. Every member of the Thrive at Beachwalk team is NIDE (National Institute for Dementia Education) certified. That includes everyone from the chefs and housekeepers to the concierge and nurses. The education allows us to interact with our memory care residents as unique individuals rather than objects in need of care. Residents are engaged with the goal of helping them recapture moments of memories and the recognition of loved ones.
At Thrive, we’ve dedicated our lives to ensure there is a purpose in every breath of each resident we’re honored to serve. We understand that Elders and their loved ones depend on us not only to live but to live well. It’s a challenge we welcome – every day.

If you have a family member with dementia avoid this facility. I currently have a family member that is residing at the facility and it is horrible. Ever since I have not been able to visit regularly and almost every other day this place has gone down hill. Everything has to be monitored and brought up or it will not be done. The hallways and dining room look clean for visitors but the actual room are filthy and sticky and when reported the excuse is " the staff is using the wrong floor cleaner ". They do not keep up with laundry nor cleaning the rooms properly. They have also never kept up with their shower schedule. All of the services they advertise only happen if you are constantly reporting it to upper management. My family member has been here for 2 years and when they first got there it was decent now it is awful. In the last two years staff constantly seems to change and unfortunately not for the better. Recently the staff seems to not care about the residents or their well being. Lastly, the activities they talk about almost never happen in memory care because they only have 1-2 people in the unit every time I'm there. The only activities I have seen in the last 2 years were church services, a musician or two that visited, story time and music playing from a monitor. Two years ago I was recommending this place, now I am telling everyone to look else where. There has got to be better care out there and I am currently looking for a new facility.

If I could go back, I would not have sent my family member to Thrive's memory care facility. They do not know and are not staffed properly to care for anyone with advanced dementia. We ended up spending an exorbitant amount of money to add 24 hr care, on top of the "memory care" that Thrive can provide because they were nervous he would fall and because of his sometimes combatant behavior. Falling and combativeness is not unique to someone with dementia, but this was their constant answer when asked why we had to pay for 24 hr care in addition to Thrive's expensive monthly costs. Other than having a nurse to administer meds and meals being provided, I am not sure what Thrive did. Even laundry and housekeeping were not done routinely which feels like the bare minimum. We would continually take laundry home so that my father had clean clothes. The admin group who you initially meet with are great at the surface, but it does not go further than that. Overall, the experience with Thrive caused more distress than relief for my family and my father's last months of his life. The worst part is that a week before my father passed, the main nurse on schedule told us that she did not have the bandwidth to give him morphine every hour as prescribed by the hospice team. Luckily, we were able to move him to hospice house that day and they were amazing and cared for him the best way possible. Dementia is a horrible disease, and the family needs to feel supported and feel that their loved one is cared for. That is the bare minimum, and Thrive does not supply this. I understand that this is a business at the end of the day and after our interactions with thrive, they make that more than abundantly clear. They try to assuage your feelings, but actions do not mimic what you are being told. We were lucky we lived close by and could stop in which gave us plenty of insight into their day to day routines and actions in the memory care facility. I would not want any other family to go through what we did and advise you not to send your family member or loved one to Thrive.

My husband moved into Thrive at Beachwalk. The case manager on the floor, and the nurse at the hospital recommended it because it has a good memory care unit, and a psychiatrist that specializes in dementia goes there several days a week and sees people. The staff is alright. It's too early to know, so far they're OK, nothing outstanding. I think the food is probably good, but he's very particular, so he's eating a lot of sandwiches instead of the main course. It's very clean, and it's new, about three years old. I asked for an activity calendar, but I still haven't gotten it, and there's one on the wall in the hall. It's filled like it should be, with as many activities as supposed to be there, but on weekends they don't do much, they just have TV on, and they did some kind of game one day.
