I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We chose Mulberry Gardens of Southington for dad because it was very affordable and they had a nice staff there. It was just really nice and comfortable. They made you feel at home. They're very attentive to the residents, which I like. They have bingo, they toss the ball, they take them out for walks, and they do a lot of arts and crafts where they've done pictures and stuff like that. He's got a nice studio apartment. They have a gym and a salon, so I don't even have to take him anywhere, which is nice. I could just call them and ask them for a haircut and they'll do it.

I visited this facility

I went to Mulberry Gardens of Southington. It's very nice. People seemed very friendly. We were there when they were having an ice cream social, and then we went outside because they don't want outsiders exposed to the people living there particularly. It's very pleasant. They have a good-sized bird cage, and I like the birds only because I'm an animal lover of sorts. The room that we saw was with a resident although she wasn't there, and it gave you an idea of what you could do, which I like. The staff said it was possible that there could be an opening soon. The thing that I didn't like is if you put yourself on a list, there's a $2500 non-refundable fee and that's a little steep. They have Alzheimer's area, but it is separate from the regular clientele. They have both assisted living and memory care. They have a very small kitchenette with a small refrigerator and a sink. I like the way it was set up because there's a hallway going to the bedroom and the bathroom area and the layout plan is nice because it's just a nice flow, and I like that. The bedroom is roomy enough. The staff who took us on a tour was very pleasant and very open to questions and trying to tell us things about the facility. They got a lot of information. I was very happy with them. I have nothing negative to say about them. They have a small pond, and they have a garden.

My father-in-law is in Mulberry Gardens of Southington. He needs just a little assistance with bathing and prompts for medical. The staff is very helpful, polite and nice. They just did anything they could to assist you. The facility is neat and clean. There are many activities and there's maintenance in the building. He says the food is fine. They have bingo, horse racing, and Christmas ornament making. It's a good value for what you're paying. The meals could have little better choices and they could hire some more aides because they're a little understaffed in the aide department.

We chose Mulberry Gardens of Southington for my mom because it fit her needs and she likes it. It's a very nice place. The staff is exceptional and very nice. They know your name. My mom said she's so tired by the end of the day because they keep you very busy with arts and crafts, singing, trips, and games. My mom says the food is very good and it looks very good.

Mulberry Gardens of Southington is more like a home. Mom has an apartment with a rug and a beautiful dining room. She has her own furniture, so it's not hospital-like. She has a little kitchen area, a bed, a TV, and chairs for visitors. They are very good with her. She gets her hair and nails done once a week. They bring her to the movies and also go shopping.

I was scheduled to attend a talk/lunch at Mulberry Gardens. When I arrived - there was NO parking available. I went in to inquire about parking. The friendly receptionist called over the ADMINISTRATOR - when told of my problem by the receptionist - her response was "I am sorry about that!" Ok so as I was leaving - she shouted Oh! are you here for the talk? I had told the receptionist that, but I guess to the ADMINISTRATOR - she didn't care - until I was leaving - than did it make a difference whether I was there for the talk or there to visit someone??????? I didn't think her response was very professional, well thought out, had no back up plans for parking, easy way out of the situation she was facing!!!!!! When a talk is schedule all items should be addressed - not only trying to get as many people to see the Mulberry Gardens, but only having the amount of people the place can hold!!!! (parking should also be considered) I do hope the residents get a better response when they have a problem, not only from the employees that work with them directly, but the ADMINISTRATOR!!!

I think that Mulberry Gardens’ non-memory care assisted living is very good. I think they have a little work to do with the memory care. I think they need a slightly little higher staffing. My father was in their memory care. The two main things they need to improve on would be I think they need one additional staff person in the mornings, and they need to find a way to have access to an enclosed outdoor courtyard for the memory care people as well. I think that the staff is caring, but it’s not a matter of their quality; it’s more like the quantity. The food is excellent, and it’s a nice and clean building.

I like Mulberry Gardens a little bit better than the other ones. The person who took me around was very, very friendly. It's like being on a cruise ship on land. You can do as much as you want or as little as you want.

We chose Mulberry Gardens for my mom because it's 2 miles away from my brother and 3 miles away from my niece who is an OT. It's excellent. They don't have any turn over with their staff. The staff is very attentive, caring and gives their 100% to the residents. Food is excellent too. This Christmas, they had a party. There was a buffet for all the residents and their family. They took them to look at holiday lights and once a month they take them to different restaurants too.

Mulberry Gardens of Southington is very nice facility. The size of the room and the expense was much more money, but we did like this facility.

We're all set now and we have my father in Mulberry. We chose this facility because it is just a fantastic place! He has been there about three weeks now and this is a very good place for him. The staff is amazing! They're very organized and helpful. Obviously, they're happy to work there which makes the difference. It's a very warm place and the building is beautiful too, but it's the people that make it that way. Right now, my father is in their memory care section called Harmony Place. He is in an apartment with a bright window. It has a big bathroom with appropriate bars should he need help in and out the shower and off the toilet. It is nice, clean and very comfortable. Regarding activities, they have all sorts of them in Mulberry. Residents can go down the gym. They have an exercise physiologist and a director of activities onsite. With regards to food, my father loves their food. He said they were fantastic. Also we had lunch there and it was great.

A friend recommended Mulberry Gardens of Southington for my mom. It has a warm feeling when you go there. My mom is in a semi-private room. It is big and very clean. They take good care of it for her. I like that they have lots of aides. Every time I go there, I see them talking to the residents. They give good care. Although it is not a nursing facility, they have nurses and when mom gets ill, they bring her to the hospital. It is good that they keep an eye on her. My mom is comfortable living there. I also like that they take the residents in excursions and they even include the ones in the memory care. It is a great facility and I recommend them to others.

I visited this facility

Mulberry Gardens has been a great place to volunteer at for both my wife and myself. My wife volunteered there for about 6 months and developed a few relationships with not only the residents, but also the staff. The staff was always friendly and she never had a complaint about them. As for myself, I remember volunteering before 2000 as a Cub Scout and it was a memorable experience. The last time I visited, the facility's quality hadn't seem to go anywhere but up. Of course being a kid, I wouldn't pay attention much to the inside, however, driving my Mulberry Gardens almost everyday, I would notice the landscaping. The landscaping was always beautiful. The staff was always friendly and respectful. Never once did my wife or myself feel unwelcome there. As for negative comments, I can't think of any. None at all, I haven't experienced a situation there that was less than amiable. The inside was very well kept as was the outside. The staff upheld good order and discipline within the facility so there was hardly ever any negative incidents, that we observed.I give Mulberry Gardens a 5-star rating because they deserve it. I left there with nothing but positive memories and high respect for the staff and management.

I remember thinking that the outside was well kept with flowers and benches. The security was very low key. We signed in and where told where grandma was. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. There was a sitting area when you first walked in. Before you got to the rooms there was a cafeteria. It was small, but clean. You walked down several halls, each room was well marked with the residence name. Each room was small but had a mini fridge, microwave, and tv. The bath rooms where very nice and easy for grandma to get around. She enjoyed her stay there. They had activities for the residence. I believe we attended a party there that was a lot of fun. We where asked to join in, but declined. They where always very knowledgeable about my grandmother's health. They would keep us informed. Everything was kept very clean and presentable. Overall it was a very nice facility.
