My mom was at sandalwood on respite care. She left her home able to walk with a walker. She was dropped off at her home without her belongings and without her walker. She was sent home without her coat and no blanket was provided for warmth during transportation. She has a bruised eye and cut on her face and will not communicate now. 5 days and she has returned traumatized.

My mother was at Sandalwood. She passed while she was there. Basically, my mother quit eating, quit drinking, had high blood pressure, and all sorts of other extenuating circumstances. Basically, she had a lot going on with her. They did their job and did exactly what they should have done. They gave her whatever pain meds she needed. They tried their best, but my mother was 79 and had been going downhill for several years. My mother spent a total of about 30 days at Sandalwood Manor. I tried the food, and it was fine. She was on a very restricted diet. One of the symptoms of stage six dementia is that they forget how to eat and how to swallow. They had to actually sit with her and tell her to take a bite and swallow the bite, clear them out, and then take another bite. It's to that extent; that's the level of care my mother was at. The staff members were all very good, very nice, and gentle. There was just the one nurse that I did not like. I know you can't break out one nurse, but I just didn't like the way she physically handled my mother. My mother was 5 foot 2 and weighed 195 pounds, so she was literally too much for one person to handle. It was an older facility, but it was spotless, kept up, and very clean. It was a little pricey for what it was. However, they had the highest staff per patient ratio of any of them. In the nurses station (while she was in rehab), there were always four nurses sitting there.

Sandalwood Manor (The Rehabilitation Center At Sandalwood) has been going good and my mom's adjusting OK. Everyone does their job the way they should. We're satisfied overall. It's very clean. Mom does OK with the food too. I would recommend them.

This place is horrible my aunt had a stroke and was paralyzed and they pulled her out of bed to go do activities and said my aunt wanted that. My aunt is absolutely terrified of staying there. We will be moving her home and taking care of her.

We weren’t too happy with Sandalwood Manor. My sister looked at it, she liked the director and it looked like a nice place. It was also close to my mom’s home. My first day of visit (which was also her first day of stay there), they pushed her up in the cafeteria on a wheel chair freezing. She has been trying to get somebody for 40 minutes. I asked somebody to take her back to her room and she refused to go back to the cafeteria. Two weeks later, her legs swelled. The nurse said its okay. I asked them to call the doctor and the doctor said to take her to the emergency room right away. She had a blood clot on her leg and she went from there. The smell and accommodations were okay. They should use more staffing and have a doctor there all the time.
