My husband moved into Mountain Vista Senior Living Community. So far I think he gets very good care. When I see him, he always looks very well cared for, and very well groomed. He enjoys mealtime. The food is good. He never misses a meal. Everybody's very kind and patient, too. They have a program of activities every day. They have a little store that's open and some days where people can go in and purchase things, they have church services, and they have transportation to various places. And I know in nice weather, they have outdoor activities. It's an older building, but it's nice, they have windows all around you can look out to. But, it's way too expensive.

My husband was in Mountain Vista Senior Living Community. They kept on dropping him and he was all busted up, like his forehead and nose. He was there for nursing care. He had a feeding tube and ended back in the hospital, and the doctor said they fed him through his mouth even though he had a feeding tube. This community looked better than his current community when you walk through the front door, but I didn't know he was in the rehab section and not in the nursing home. The rehab is their newer addition, but they did a few things wrong. They dropped him on the first day and his nose and forehead were beat up. The next day the nurse called me to say he was lying underneath the wheelchair. When I told them to have somebody watch him or put a pillow or a chair or something there, they didn't. When they admitted him back to the Lutheran Hospital he had a septic emboli, a clot on his lung, water in his lungs, and he was all beat up. He had a pretty big room in the rehab there. Their staff didn't come when you needed them and they were always short on staff. The building itself has a nice appeal, it's an older building, but they have birds in the lobby.

We picked Mountain Vista because it was large enough, had a good reputation, and had a room available. I think the staff there is fine, anyway in all of those places you'd have trouble with the staff. They left Dad in his room a lot. The food was good, and had lots of choices. The best part about the staff was probably because they make sure to come in and ask what he wanted. I would recommend them compared to the other places. My father is 6'3" and he says the beds were too short.

My mother had rehab at Mountain Vista for six weeks, and it went well. I liked the people and the nursing staff. The therapy was very good. Some were a little intense for her, but they needed to do that to get her walking again. The food was like a hospital's, but that's appropriate for the facility. It's more of a hospital rehab situation there, not a long-term place. Her room was well maintained and clean. It was well staffed and homier than some of the others I visited.

The facility is clean, well staffed and well maintained. The staff was always kind and compassionate to my family and to my grandmother. If an issue was brought to their attention it was taken care of quickly and thoughtfully. My grandmother happily took part in the regular activities, as well as the group offsite trips. The activities were well planned and were varied enough that they appealed to most residents. The hairdresser on site always made each resident feel special and well taken care of. When a family member made suggestions they were taken into account almost right away. When a family member wanted to host an activity they were welcomed and assisted in every way. Once hospice had to be contacted each person was caring and thoughtful. They did everything they could to make my grandmother comfortable. The long term staff should be commended, all of their hard work and compassion showed each and every time we went to visit.

My 90+ year old Mom lived there for about 4 years. I visited her about 5 nights a week. It was my opinion that the staff took exceptionally good care of her. I had heard horror stories about the care in some nursing homes. I did not witness any abuse at Mountain Vista.' John Hayden
