I was VERY happy with the care my brother received before he passed away. The staff from nursing to housekeeping were incredible. I am so happy he was able to spend his final days under Uptown's care and he too felt as I did.

From the first day that my husband arrived to Uptown,i knew that I was going to have to visit with him everyday So I did and I had to voice my opinions to the charge nurse, social worker, administration on a every other day visit. That is how poorly the staff is. Examples: my husband needed 24 hr help with lifts to & from wheel chair to bed, also help with bathing. One CNA member was either very unhappy about her job because I had to tell her to be more carefull when transferring my husband from his wheelchair to the bed, and she did not like that one bit. When it was shower time for him, he wouldn't get showered, they would say he refused, when I would ask him, he said that they wouldn't come and get him. Physical therapy would come to get him during the time of his breakfast, so they would say that they would come back to him later and then that would never happen. When I would arrive I would always check his diaper and it was always wet. So I would press the call light button and at times it would take them an hour to come into his room. So I had jut started changing his diaper myself. sometimes I would arrive and see him wearing cloths that's didn't belong to him. I would ask what happened to his cloths and they would say all his cloths were soiled and so they had borrowed clothes from the laundry. Which that was a lie , because the day before I would leave I would always know what clean cloths he had because I would take his dirty cloths home to wash them , because they would loose his cloths All the Time ! The social worker was always very confused about his discharge date and then try to blow me off. I had only met with the Dr 1 time and that was when he arrived, after that I had never talked nor even seen him again. I would be there every day to visit and stay a whole 8 hr day with my husband and I can say the staff was better in the day then the evening. Oh and the charge nurse would bring her dog to work and allow the dog to go into pts rooms and get on the beds. Well the dog would get so excited that he or she would pee on the bed and the floor. To me that is a Health and safety issue . Im so glad that my husbabd only had to stay for 2 months But I really feel so sorry for the ones that have to live there because the more disabled ones just don't get the proper care or treatment that they Deserve. I will never recommend this place to any one. I could write a book about what I have seen and heard and smelled but I will leave it alone. I recommend to visit the place without calling them to alert them ,because then they get put on to the good behavior mode. If you know what I mean by that

Uptown Health Care Center is a place that breeds community, hope and passion for the residents. This makes it a great place for someone who needs joy and compassion in their lives. Unfortunately, this motto of happiness, encouragement, and support can only go so far. Eventually someone will need their teeth brushed, diaper changed, and any other necessary thing the resident needs to be healthy will have to be done and this is where they are lacking. Many of times, I have come here to visit my grandmother to find her needs (like those mentioned above, including hair care) just have not been met. Uptown needs to learn how to succeed in health excellence.
