I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad is currently at Mount St Francis Nursing Center. The care is great; they give great care. Like every other facility in the country probably, they're short-staffed, which is no fault of their own, so for making up for that, they give very good care. Like any other place, the staff is not top quality but for the most part, they are. I haven't tried the food, but my dad who's there says the food is pretty good. It's never a home-cooked type situation, but for being in a nursing home, it's good. The layout is fine. There are three floors for residents and one of the floors is for more required help. It's a much older building, but I think it's very nice. There are very limited activities. They do the usual bingo, and they have church services or a bible study, nothing really exciting, but most of the people probably wouldn't participate in much more anyway. Everything is so astronomically expensive wherever they go, but it's comparable to every other place. For one month of service there, it's over $10,000 which seems very outrageous to me; however, it is the way it is. He is on private pay now, so it's out of pocket. It's difficult but it is necessary.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom is now at Mount St Francis Nursing Center. We chose this one because we needed full skilled nursing, we needed that would take Medicaid, and her pastor recommended this place. She has been in quarantine for 14 days and that's over with. The nursing staff called me a couple of times about some incident, but the administrative staff was very helpful in getting everything taken care of. They got bingo. She doesn't really play bingo, but she goes and watches it anyway. She can't get out of bed by herself, she can't get out of the wheelchair, she is pretty much taken care of by the nurses 24 hours a day. The meals are included.

As of November 2018 this facility will match up with any in Colorado Springs. We moved my father here from another care center, he has severe dimentia, and requires assistance with dressing, eating, toileting, etc. I could not ask for better care than he receives at Mount St. Francis--he is always clean, and shaven, his room is always in order and clean, and he always receives adequate help at mealtime.

I am/was a resident of this facility

My mom was here and passed on here. She was so well cared for and loved by so many. You could not find a better staff, more loving and kind. We had been in several facilities before Mt St Francis and I was so happy mom was here till the end.

Mount St. Francis Nursing Center is the best, most compassionate, professional, clean and beautiful nursing facility in Colorado! The staff is dedicated and excellent in their field of expertise. The management, doctors, staff and volunteers treat my sister with love, respect and care. They pay attention to every detail. The staff's communication with me is frequent and includes regularly scheduled care meetings with all involved with my sister's care. I am forever grateful for this lovely and peaceful residence for my sister. It gives me peace of mind knowing that she is in the best care facility in Colorado and in the best professional hands that she could possibly be.

TRUST ME-YOU DO NOT WANT TO PUT YOUR LOVED ONE HERE! THERE STAFF IS AWFUL! THEY DON'T NOTIFY YOU LIKE THEY SHOULD WHEN AN ACCIDENT OCCURS. THERE'S NOT ENOUGH NURSES TO TEND TO THE RESIDENT'S LIKE THEY SHOULD. MY LOVED ONE DIED THERE & ALL I WILL SAY IS WHY WHY WHY? ??????

I visited this facility

Mount St. Francis Nursing Center was nice. However, I hardly met the staff so I couldn't make any comment on them.

The facility immediately impressed with the beautiful grounds, veranda and the friendliness of the other residences. The nursing staff immediately became part of the family. When I was there I often felt like my Grandmother was the only person being cared for.She was always dressed in street clothes before breakfast and had her teeth brushed, make up and lipstick on. They made sure she had here hair done once a week and nails clipped and polished at the same time.I was able to spend the nights with her the first week until she got comfortable with the environment. She didn't want to have to be at a home, but I think she quickly realized that she have much more community there than she did at her apartment. She was 93 when she moved in and passed away at 96. I take comfort in knowing her quality of life was the best it could be her last few years.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

At first, I was very impressed with the care my mother was receiving. The grounds are lovely and a great place to walk around, enjoying the trees, grass and the many deer, grazing. My mother was then forced to move down to a different floor (she was a Medicaid patient, and they are all 2nd class citizens). I didn't object to the different room, but was very unhappy with the staff on the first floor. I frequently found her alone (NOT OK) sitting in her wheelchair, even though there were strict instructions regarding the danger of her falling. I thought her 2nd floor CNAs were awesome, but I was less pleased with the 1st floor staff. I kept getting conflicting information from them, and in was difficult to get a straight answer. The social worker who visited was polite, but not overly helpful. The daytime activities bored my mother silly, but I guess that's to be expected with dementia. I often found her room to be mostly clean, but the shared bathroom (toilet) was always so grungy that I used the staff bathroom. Food at Mount St. Francis appeared to be varied and nourishing; I can't vouch for the taste, but residents appeared to be eating, at least, a little. The kitchen/dining room staff were always very polite and helpful, but my mother couldn't eat on her own, and there never seemed to be sufficient staff to feed residents who needed help - that was very frustrating. They also kept taking her to Sunday mass, even though she wasn't Catholic, but I guess that's the way things are at a Catholic-owned facility. I think, as nursing homes go, this is probably one of the nicer ones. The CNAs, nurses and attendants were always very polite and willing to help. I think they were overworked and frustrated over the lack of communication; I seemed to know more than them about what was going on. My mother died at Mount St. Francis six months ago. The staff was very respectful and caring, as we had to go through the difficult process of making the necessary arrangements.
