I like the overall feel of the whole facility of Brookdale Skyline because it's a fairly large campus. I like where it's located. It's in a beautiful part of Colorado Springs. I like the size of the apartment. The apartment was a perfect size; I liked it. It had a complete kitchen with a stove, not a kitchenette. I liked that the dining room was not huge; it was a good size. I just like the overall facility. It just felt good. They did a great job on the tour. The little girl who did it was wonderful. She did a great job. When it comes to the building itself, it was very clean.

Brookdale Skyline is significantly understaffed. For assisted living, currently they may have 2 - 3 caregivers for 75 residents. They have to prioritize minimum care. The nursing station is unreachable at night by phone. Many times, it takes a very long time for them to respond to a call for help .. while some staff sit in the community room for long periods of time and don't respond to resident calls for help. Food is dry and cold and sometimes too hard to eat, and sometimes presented in an unappetizing way. It has taken weeks for a couple of maintenance issues to be fixed. They promise a lot, but deliver little. Some staff are excellent, but those staff are sometimes badmouthed by the poor performing and rude staff in front of the residents. It is overpriced, twice the price of a much nicer facility with more than twice the care giver to resident ratio that we can find in assisted living in other states. They nickel and dime you (extra 100s/month for medicine, more to get help getting dressed, more to get help showering, about $9/meal if it is brought to the room even though the meals are already paid for, etc.)

I've moved into Brookdale Skyline. I'm in independent living. This is a continuing care facility, all the way from independent living up to assisted living, memory care, or a nursing home. I like it here. My apartment's a little smaller, but I have too much stuff. The decor is lovely. The food is superb. We have tablecloths, napkins, and fresh flowers on the tables. The staff has been very friendly and helpful so far. I don't have anything negative to say about it yet. They have a therapy pool, which is available to all residents. It's very nice and it's kept at 90 degrees and it's a good enough size. They have all kinds of aquatic classes and things for all different levels of mobility. They have all kinds of activities. The residents have been very friendly and welcoming. The food is excellent. They have an excellent chef. I've lived in two other places and visited a lot of places, and I've not been in any that was as well- appointed as this one. I have had one bad experience with a staff person who in the next couple of weeks was fired. He's already been warned apparently. That's the only bad experience I've had. Everybody has been wonderful. They certainly have a very appealing-looking menu for the activities, and it's very broad, and they have four buses that will be able to handle wheelchairs. They go to the local stores, Wal-Mart, and Target. They go to events. Onsite, there's everything from mahjong to walking activities and arts. There are plenty of things to do. All the residents seem very pleased. They have a very broad range of what people can buy into or rent into. Value for money is excellent.

Brookdale Skyline was lovely. It was a great visit. The facility is beautiful. It has everything that you could need if you're an independent. The apartment had a lovely view, and it was a nice size. I would highly recommend it. The staff members were very nice. We saw one of the theaters that they have. They have libraries. They don't have a washer and dryer in every apartment, but on every floor, they have washers and dryers at no cost to the residents. We saw the pool, the workout gym, and all the activities that they do. We saw the eating facility. They do it restaurant-style, where you're seated and served at the table. It's lovely. They even have a thrift store that's open on Mondays, which I thought was a fun thing. The main staff member that we met was very helpful. He gave us information every step of the way and left us with printed information and his business card. He invited us back to have brunch with him sometime.

I had a complete tour at Brookdale Skyline and it didn't feel rushed at all. But I felt like I was going back into the 1980s as far as decor. Everything was brown and just not bright and not uplifting. It was just very dated. The staff was fine. They were very friendly and they spent a lot of time with me. They did a follow-up phone call and email. I wasn't very hungry when I was there, so I just had some soup and bread. The bread was really good, but I did not like the soup. It upset my stomach for the rest of the day because it wasn't very tasty.

Our family has some seniors in Brookdale Skyline and we are quite disappointed in the service and costs. Above the Assisted living costs, they charge peace-meal for each and every little service they need help with (which adds up to thousands extra/month above the assisted living cost). A logical person would have thought most of these services would have been included in the higher base price for assisted living versus the price for independent living: medication management (100s/month), help with nebulizer machine (hundreds/month above medication management), assistance with dressing and toiletry, meal tray delivery for sick ($9/meal extra), helping them to/from places within the building, help with putting out laundry basket, etc. They even charge hundreds extra for having an oxygen concentration machine (claiming it is Colorado law, but they don't have oxygen bottles). Almost daily there is a disagreement between the seniors and the facility staff regarding whether medications were given at the appropriate time (or given at all), whether there was help dressing and/or toileting, where the room was cleaned, whether they respond to the call button within in the advertised time of 15 minutes (family members have satin the room and observed a delay of more than 45 minutes). The room is always too hot or too cold. The thermostats are very difficult to control, and even one of the maintenance staff couldn't figure out how to set the schedule on the thermostat to keep it from resetting to a different temperature. Meal portions are very small. One ordered pie and the wide part of the triangle was about 1/2" thick. One good thing: they improved the food since they got there -- At first the meat was so hard and dry that they couldn't eat it. They are now trying to make the meat more tender and palatable. Meal menus can be challenging at this age to understand (they have to ask for things not clearly listed on the menu like butter and jam). Sometimes they didn't think they liked any food on the menus for the entire day, and he wasn't given help to order something more palatable from the" always available" menu, so he had 1-2 bites and not much for the whole day. We now pay even more extra for someone to watch out for them. Our seniors do not participate in any of the activities -- they simply aren't interested in them. It is confusing for people (even younger people) to navigate within and between buildings (depending on where they are going, it may require going up/down multiple elevators, and signage is not easy to follow).

I visited Brookdale Skyline. Overall, it was a nice facility, but it was a little bit too big for our taste. I got up to the skilled nursing and it was too busy for my mom's taste. It was not a nice, calming atmosphere at all. It was just like constant things going on everywhere. They did let me go into one of the rooms and it wasn't the cleanest, so I was turned off by that. They were nice folks and all, but I would not put my mom there. It's nice if someone's looking for memory care or they don't care about the busyness, but my mother has dementia, and she doesn't need all that chaos going on. The staff was lovely, very nice, very informative, and helpful. I have nothing negative to say about any one person. They had activities, there were people getting therapy, there was a TV going on, and there were tables with visitors sitting around. Instead of putting activities and the therapy in a quieter area or allowing the main area to be more of a serene area, it seemed like everything happened right there. That's kind of what my feeling was. I'm sure their care is great, but it was more of the atmosphere that I didn't like.

Brookdale Skyline was nice, but it wasn't as nice and elegant as the other facility I visited. The staff were all very attentive. They were very good. They do a lot of different things with the residents. They cover the intellectual, emotional, physical, and social dimensions of life. They had silver sneakers, which I think is always good exercise. They had a lot of different kinds of water exercises. It was a very large facility. I liked that they had cottages, so they had a real variety of places you could live.

Brookdale Skyline had pool therapy and physical therapy. They had a very nice exercise room that was very well equipped. They also offered line dancing as part of their exercise program. They had an art studio, craft rooms, all kinds of games, puzzles, and a library. I looked at an apartment and one of their villas. I was very impressed with both. I was impressed with the staff, too. They were very nice.

We went to Brookdale Skyline. It was very nice, very homey, and very comfy. Their rooms were a good size. They are very nice. It was a good place. They had a variety of rooms. At the time we were there, it was around lunchtime. There wasn't a whole lot of activities at that time. It was just everybody getting ready to go to lunch.

I chose Brookdale skyline Clare Bridge for my husband who has early onset Alzheimers because they had access to a swimming pool and he could bring his little dog. It was a disaster. 1. He was initially not entered into the computer system correctly which resulted in him missing medications for days and not having a shower for over a week after admission. They also lost an entire month’s supply of a heart medicine that we gave to the director on admission. 2. I brought him three pairs of spare eye glasses and showed them to the health and wellness director on admission. A month later, on a visit, I was told that he had lost a nose pad on his glasses. When I examined him, he was missing the nose pad and the metal prong to which the pad attaches had eroded into his nose, which was scabbed, and had surrounding redness. No one had given him one of his three pairs of spare glasses, no one had notified me, no one had even covered the prong with a piece of tape. They did notice that pad was missing but did nothing to fix the situation This was typical of the care. 3. While the clients were being fed in their rooms due to Covid, there was concern because he was not eating. My daughter (living out of state) agreed to zoom while he was eating. She watched an aide bring in a closed box of food and plop it on his table. He didn’t know to open it. The aide came back and said she didn’t have time to open the box. Due to his Alzheimer’s my daughter couldn’t communicate to him to open it. It took over an hour to get someone from the floor to come down and open the box so that he could have his meal… 4. There were numerous medication errors, some of which could have been lethal if he were a small person 5. No one knew who was responsible for trimming Alzheimer’s patient’s nails. Confirmed at 1/18/21 meeting with Brookdale CEO, head of assisted living, head of Health and Wellness, and head of Brookdale at home ( I mentioned that my husband’s fingernails were long and dirty) 6. We chose Brookdale because he could take his little dog and he could be taken swimming. Prior to admission, we agreed to pay a lot extra to their Brookdale at home service for the dog’s care and to have my husband taken to the swimming pool. Once he was admitted, we found out that the Brookdale at home service did not have enough staff and he was never taken swimming and after a month we had to bring the dog home due to neglect (not given water/food, taken out as agreed). 6. Billing was a disaster. His bills were initially sent to HIM on the Alzheimer’s unit and then I received an angry call because his bills weren’t paid. The Brookdale sales person and then the head of Brookdale at Home on admission initially quoted $29/ hour for Brookdale at home services (for dog care, for taking him swimming etc) then over 3 months later I am told it is $40 per hour if under an hour, but looking back at a previous month’s bill I was charged $44 per hour regardless whether over or under one hour of service. Billing time frequently did not reflect actual worked hours as listed on the itemized bill. One example; a staff worked form 11:30-12:30 (1 hour) but I was billed 5 hours. 7. Several months prior to moving into Brookdale, I discussed the plan for behavioral problems as behavioral issues are common with Alzheimer’s patients (my husband had no behavioral issues before moving). I was assured care could be managed and that if he developed Behavioral issues, the process would be that he would be transported to the hospital where medication could be stabilized and then he could be returned to facility. He did develop behavioral issues and they would not transfer him to a psychiatric hospital but instead threw him out of the facility and we had to scramble to get him placed elsewhere… I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

My dad was in Brookdale Skyline in the rehab center, and I was very disappointed with that place. I understand that COVID affects a lot of the health care places, but I would never take my dad back there. That was just the rehab side, and I didn't see the independent living or assisted living. Because of corona, I wasn't able to visit him except for four days. I wasn't very pleased. He came home worse than he went in because the lack of rehab. It's a beautiful facility, but as far as the care went, it was minimal. There were a couple of staff that were good. My dad really enjoyed one of the CNAs, Sara. My dad was isolated in a room and physical therapy was minimal. He said the food was OK, but he had better. The physician that was there was an absolute joke. I don't even know if he was competent enough to be a doctor. The first night he was there I wanted to speak to the physician and kind of give them a synopsis of my dad's situation. It took him two hours to come into the room to talk to me. He waited for me to be the last resident that he saw. His room had a beautiful view, and the bathroom was very large. There was a bed area and a living area. It was decent. They had a very large dining area, which was nice. And they had a dog that visited the residents.

We went to look at the assisted living of Brookdale Skyline. The skilled nursing piece of it was what we were after. My dad needs more care these days, so we have to get him into someplace that's skilled nursing. It seems like my dad would get more care there. Everybody has a staffing shortage, but they seem to be handling it well. The staff was awesome. She was very informative and very personable. We liked her. It was a good tour. The exact apartment, if my dad should choose that place, was under construction, which was fine. At least, we saw that they were updating, making it fresh and clean, so that was good. The facility looked very clean to us. It was not feeling like an institution. It was beautifully decorated and on the higher end.

My dad's experience with Brookdale Skyline has been wonderful. It has all the amenities that a hotel would have, and the rooms are beautiful. They have three or four different styles, and they're all nice and spacious. The people are really nice and very helpful, too. They have a beautiful dining room, a full gym, an indoor pool that's heated, plenty of classes for exercise, a barber shop, a cafe, and tons of activities for the residents to do. They got two free meals and it's buffet style right now due to COVID. They're a bit pricey, but the place is absolutely gorgeous.

Brookdale Skyline is really big, and they really have a lot to offer. So, I remember being impressed by it, but I think for my sister it's going to be just too much. It's too big and there's too many people. It was a very nice facility. We only got to meet with one staff member. She did an excellent job and was very knowledgeable. The rooms were really nice, and they had several different styles. They had several different sizes like a one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and suite. The staff showed us a map with the layout. They do have quite a bit of stuff there. It's somewhat newer maybe than the other one I visited. It seems like they have everything there. Everything looked really nice, clean, and organized.

Brookdale Skyline was very nice and had all the amenities that we were looking for. The staff who assisted us during the tour was very helpful. The rooms were very large; we had lunch there and it was okay. They had recreational rooms, a pool, laundry facilities, library, and we saw the dining hall. When we were there they weren't active, but my parents said that they were more active when they went there.

Brookdale Skyline was excellent. I pretty much like everything, except for it to be a little bit difficult getting from one area to another. You had to go quite a big distance. The rooms are nice sized and easily accessible. The staff is excellent and very knowledgeable. They have good facilities. They have a good menu and is quite varied. They have got a good selection, and they've got a wide variety over a pretty good time.

The floor plans at Brookdale Skyline were very nice. They offered everything there. Their one- and two-bedroom apartments were really nice. They offer independent and assisted living, and you can get an apartment or a stand-alone if you want, and that's what I like about it. The staff who took me around was very good. I like Brookdale Skyline the best. You could call a number there, and they had available people who would help you unpack and do that type of thing, which wasn't available at some of the other places. Their pricing was straightforward and clean, there was nothing to hide, and I like that. They offered a lot of amenities. It was laid out very nicely because if you felt like walking, you could walk a long distance just inside.

I had an in-person tour of Brookdale Skyline. It was very good. The staff checked back with me. She was very helpful in all aspects in answering questions and showing us around. It was very well kept and nice. The furnishings were appealing. Because of COVID, we could only see a certain area, so we didn't have lunch there. They had a beauty salon/barber shop. It was pretty homey.

My wife is in Brookdale Skyline. It's very large, it's very new, and it's elegant. It's almost Spanish, a series of 6 buildings, and each building specialized to certain types of people or stuff, and their needs. It also had houses, you had your own garage and everything that's onsite, and they just bring meals and stuff if you want them. It's all gated, and getting in is like trying to get in a fort, it isn't easy. I've been as far as the gate, turned around after I dropped off things for my wife and filled-up paperwork. They got 11 cases of COVID on the staff, no patient except for one that was in assisted living, and that person got infected during an outing, because they could come and go as they wanted in assisted living. The staff is good, the people I've met are very, very efficient, I believe there has been a shortage lately of nurses and caregivers due to COVID, they're real polite and they're nice. There's a rehab, and common areas she can go to, and I'm able to visit with her once a week via Skype. The skilled nursing area is like a private hospital except for the common area where they watch TV, they have semi-private and private rooms set up quite nicely with all the accommodations, TV, in their rooms.

I'm extremely disappointed in the integrity of the accounting department. I have multiple friends who live and have lived at this facility in various departments. None of them know each other. Some live in the cottages, some live in memory care, some in independent living, and some have been temporary residents of their skilled nursing facility. Every single one of my friends has dealt with billing mistakes and accounting errors. I even helped one friend gather evidence before hiring a lawyer and then she couldn't find a lawyer that would take on Medicare or the Brookdale parent company. So sad. Too many times to be a coincidence. Constantly understaffed and HIGH employee turnover in management positions. I have so much respect for companies that own their mistakes and make them right...This is not one of them I'm sorry to say.

Brookdale Skyline assisted living was nice, but way too big. There were too many twists and turns and you have to go up and down elevators, but it was an excellent facility, and the staff was wonderful. The residents looked happy the way they were all speaking to each other. They have different kinds of rooms like studios, two-bedroom apartments, and suites. The list of activities was humongous and they have a lot of good activities for them.

We liked the cottages at Brookdale Skyline, but the price was extremely high for us not having not to use any other services except living there. It was almost $5,000, which only included two meals, so that was way too high. They had some activities and a pool inside. The staff was extremely good and explained everything to us. The price was ridiculous, but they were fabulous.

Brookdale Skyline was a very nice place but very big. It had well over 500 people. It was too big for me and slightly more expensive. It had a lovely setting except that it was sort of isolated from the community. I thought the room was a little bit chopped up, and I would have found it hard to arrange my furniture because there were so many doors but roomy and comparable to other places. It had more windows.

My mom was in the rehab center (skilled nursing) and in Clare Bridge Memory Care. The experiences at both places were terrible. Her care in rehab was substandard. Left to sit in soiled diapers. Getting very little attention. I have no complaints about the therapists. They seemed to be doing their jobs. She had been there 3 times and hated it. I found out that she's still being billed for a wheelchair but she passed away at the end of July and here it is, almost December 1st. They had her sign for the chair and she had Alzheimer's. They don't know where it is, at this point. As far as Clare Bridge...a complete nightmare. Falls all the time, smelling like urine, her clothes turning up missing, rude employees, etc, etc, etc. So many urine stains on her (almost) brand new mattress, watery diarrhea left to dry all over the bathroom floor and lower part of the walls. She was on her death bed, semi-comatose, and no one called us for a day and a half. I found her in that condition when I went to visit her. Everyone was outside having a bbq while she was left in her bedroom, alone. We all missed out on time with her while she was left by herself. I wouldn't let either place take care of my neighbor's dog!!!

Brookdale was really very nice; it was well-kept, and really upscale. However, it was way out of our price range, and it had more services than what we really required. It had very nice furniture, and It felt like you’re going into a 5-star resort.

The place that would suit my parents' needs is Brookdale Skyline. We liked the setting, apartments, and amenities. It seemed to be well-kept, and it's close to where the kids are. It would allow my parents to stay together. They wouldn't have to move if their circumstances changed.

Visited many communities before selectingSkyline. From the time you walk in the door, you feel it is something different - in a good way. Staff and residents are so friendly and smiling. There is energy and activities no matter where yo walk. Other places it is dead, stale feeling - no one smiling. The property is well maintained with wonderful views. There is ample parking, everything you could want. The biggest difference is they care. They ask questions and listen to what you have to say. It just keeps getting better all the time. Great value for the dollar.

I'm at Brookdale Skyline. My daughter and I chose it because its suits my price range and needs more than the other ones. They have apartments and cottages. I chose the cottage because it provides a garage. We have a lot of hail and I do not want my car to get deformed, so the garage suits me. I have two bedrooms and two baths. I have a breakfast if I want and either a lunch or a dinner included in the price. I just have to pay for utilities, internet, and the telephone. Otherwise, everything else is inclusive.

My dad used to live at Brookdale Skyline. It was totally under construction with dangerous conditions, like wall coverings just laying on the floor, wires dangling from the ceiling, and construction equipment easily accessible to people, including my father who has memory issues. It looked bad. Some staff members were pretty darn good. Some couldn't get it right after repeated requests. For example, my father was getting narcotic medication which he shouldn't have been getting for a couple of months and repeated requests for services such as unplugging his plugged toilet couldn't get done. I was super disappointed. The decent part of it was the activities. Crystal, the activity girl, was nice and tried hard, and I was satisfied with that portion. The food was OK. They could improve on maintenance. My father's toilet would back up and stay that way for days. I would call to complain and go back two days later and he still couldn't use his own toilet. A toilet seat broke off, leaving it basically a real hazard for falling, but nothing was done, so maintenance was extremely poor. Cleaning was extremely poor. His shower was not cleaned at one time for over a year. Zero. I hired a family member to clean his apartment because it was poorly handled. The building was being revamped at an excruciatingly slow pace. As you walked down the hallway there were large, open areas with lumber, saws, construction materials, and nails right there. If my father had chosen to go beyond the little yellow caution tape, he would have found himself in a very dangerous place. My father has poor memory and poor judgment. Some of the nurses and the folks who checked on my dad were pretty good. There were some caring, decent people there. The problem from my perspective was higher up the ladder, and when I complained to the supervisor or chair managers, nothing was done. My father needed a review of his appropriateness to be there. Three weeks later, nothing. It's really disappointing and yet there were a couple of people whom I consider champions.

Brookdale Skyline is absolutely excellent. The food is good, the staff is excellent, the facilities are first-rate and improved all of the time. I don't have criticism for any part of the facility whatsoever.

There are things that I like about Brookdale Skyline, but there are very few activities in the assisted living unit that appeal to my dad. They don't have consistent medical support. We had to wait a long time after we pressed the call button for someone to come assist us. They are not patient enough to wait for my dad to try to do things on his own. I like my dad's apartment, though. It is a one-bedroom apartment, so it is spacious enough for him. The food was just OK. In the assisted living, the food comes from another building, so the quality is not as good as in the independent living.

Exceeded our expectations. Staff and residents are so friendly, caring and they make it a community. My mother was able to live in one of the wonderful garden home for a couple years before moving into one of the apartments. I do not know of anyplace in Colorado so nice or that offers everything they have to offer. It was a blessing.

This is a really great place. The location and views are wonderful. The staff are so helpful, kind and friendly. There are so many places to walk and so much to do. The swimming pool and exercise area are really nice. I was surprised how fabulous and affordable the garden homes are. I don't know of any place else in Colorado that has anything like them. My mom loved her home there but now she loves her apartment there and has made so many friends. This community has been a blessing for my mother and for our entire family.

Mom wasn’t very long at Village at Skyline. The prices were really good for independent apartments. They have a pool which is very nice. It has a beautiful surrounding as it looks over the Red Rocks in Colorado. Their food is basically buffet style, and it is really good.

I am now at Village at Skyline, but I have my doubts about something. The facility is clean, and the workers are very nice and prompt. The food is alright, the activities are excellent, and the room is like an apartment. They have peak buildings, and they just bought Emeritus. I am happy and comfortable here.

Village at Skyline was nice, but there aren't a lot of windows. It's a pretty dark facility. Where the assisted living people eat is kind of down in the basement area or the lower level.

I went to visit Village at Skyline and it was very upscale. It had a quite pleasant atmosphere. The place was clean enough and sanitary. The staff were very nice and polite, and they were very eager to have me there. I ate there, and the food was quite excellent.

We have moved my father-in-law into Village at Skyline. He likes this facility very well. They have a very helpful staff. Their rooms are spacious. They have a garden there where residents can walk around and it is a gated area. Regarding food, I have tried eating there a couple of times now and it has been very good actually. So overall, we're good now with this facility.

We visited Village at Skyline several times and it looked appealing. The staff was very gracious, most courteous, most forthright and most considerate. They answered all our questions and showed us the available models. We had a very good relationship with them. We ate there several times and it was excellent, the food was good.

Village at Skyline is a really large facility. Basically they have everything there. It got independent living, assisted living, memory care, and long term care. This is the only facility that had all of those. The rooms were very nice. The staff was very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. We had lunch there and the food was very good. We liked it, but that type of facility is too large for my mother-in-law.

We were totally pleased and almost blown away with how spacious was Village at Skyline. The floors are light colored and really, really nice. It was a well done tour and they were extremely nice. They offered us dinner at the same time. The dining area was very spacious. There were also good choices of rooms and lots of options. You can have a 2-bedroom with an extra room for an office. Everything was wonderful and everything was professionally done.

It was great, and I really liked the facility. However, I was told I don't meet the age criteria to be a resident there. I'm 61 and think that should be fine.
