I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad was in the rehab center of Liberty Heights. The rehab facility was set up nicely in little pods. The rooms were clean and most of the staff that I worked with were very pleasant and helpful. The facility was nice, clean, and set up well. The residents that we met there were very nice. The nurses, CNAs, and therapists that worked with them were all nice. The rooms were good and were adequate for what my dad was there for. Liberty Heights left us in a bind. We had nowhere to put my dad. They discharged him, and we didn't have another facility for him. My brother spoke to them and they said they had availability in their memory care for him. And my mom went in the next day and they said, "Oh, we don't have a place for him."

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I toured Liberty Heights. I absolutely loved it. If I stay in Colorado Springs, that is definitely where I would like to go. The people were friendly. All the staff knew the people who were living there. They knew them all by name, and it had a nice, warm, comfortable feeling as soon as you walked in the door. They have all kinds of activities. As you walk through one specific hallway, they have examples of arts and crafts for the people who live there, like there were paintings, jewelry, and quilting. They had some crochet things, and some people were really good. I still do have a friend that lives in a one-bedroom. I had another friend who unfortunately passed away, but she lived in a two-bedroom. The two-bedroom one had a huge view of the whole front range in the Air Force Academy, and the one-bedroom one, if you went out to the balcony, you could see part of the Air Force Academy in the Front Range. So the views were spectacular. Whoever laid that place out did a wonderful job. I've been up there twice for lunch, and I thought the food was really good.

I visited this facility

Liberty Heights was much better than the other one I visited. I liked everything that I saw. The only thing I kind of didn't like was the actual room that my mom would be living in. Not that it wasn't clean and everything. It looked very clean. It was just smaller than what she has currently and just more hospital-looking. I think it would be a great fit for someone that needs to be in a hospital bed all the time or sleep in a hospital bed. I don't think that's my mom just yet. I'm considering it, but I'm still looking at other places. The staff was very informative. They seemed interested in helping me and my mom figure out where she would fit best. It's a lot more relaxed and calming atmosphere. I wasn't exactly thrilled with the way the room was set up, but everything else was great. From what I saw, the facility was pretty nice.

I visited this facility

We've visited Liberty Heights. It was a very good tour. My sister just didn't feel like that was where she would be the most comfortable. We talked with the director who gave us the tour. We did interact with one other staff member and she was very nice. The apartments were very nice. We just saw a one-bedroom apartment. They have an exercise room. We didn't actually see any of the activities going on at the time. They have a swimming pool there. It's for mature seniors. It was a very stately place, there's a lot of wood, and it's an older place, but it was beautiful. My sister just didn't think she would fit there as well. She just looked for a more casual place.

Provider Response

Thank you for touring and considering our community. Along with attentive care, giving our residents an active and vibrant lifestyle is at the heart of what we do. Please let us know if you have any questions or if we can assist you and your family in any way. Thanks again!

I am/was a resident of this facility

We have lived at Liberty Heights for 8 years. It's a good place. It has three levels of care, which is a plus. The people are nice. There are a lot of military retirees. I would say it's comparable to many other fairly upscale places. They have one, two, and three-bedroom apartments. We have art classes, card games, and exercise classes. They have a happy hour on Friday nights with live entertainment and dancing. They have outdoor excursions and bus trips to various places. We get two meals a day. You get breakfast, and you can choose your main meal to be lunch or dinner. It's an older building. They're in the process of doing a lot of remodeling. The layout is good because you have an attached garage. They have an indoor hallway to the dining room, so you don't have to go outside to get your meals. We checked out a lot of places, and we always come back to Liberty Heights. It's on the higher end, so it's not cheap. We have two bedrooms, so we're at the top of the line. The value is good. You get what you pay for.

Provider Response

We’re so grateful you feel happy and at home. From great dining to fun events and activities, we hope you’re taking advantage of all our community has to offer. Thank you for your kind review.

I visited this facility

Liberty Heights is a gated community, so you have to go through a gate and have your temperature taken at this point in time. Now with COVID, they really have to be careful about that. The staff members were all nice. We went into the main room, and it was very pleasant and very inviting, then when we went up to the memory care unit. It's a big place, and that would give us more opportunity to spend time with my mom in the future outside, like walking her out, or doing what she's capable of.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. Our residents are our top priority, and we are so pleased you've had a great experience. Thanks again!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My aunt just moved into Liberty Heights. They have all the different levels of care, which is good. Everyone that we have dealt with there has been very efficient, professional, thorough, and everything has been good. She got a television in her room, windows, and she is comfortable with the bed that she has. The room is kind of what you would expect in a skilled nursing facility. It has all the things you need. It has oxygen in it and it's perfectly adequate. They initially would not accept visitations by appointment, however, they thought she might need visits more frequently, so they allowed us to have compassionate care visits whenever we wanted. They are great, we really like them.

They are like a used car salesperson. Whatever it takes to get you in the door and your loved one a resident. It has been a hassle from day one with empty promises and unreturned phone calls. The staff has been kind, management has been unwilling to budge -that is when I have heard from them. Promises a plenty upon signing the paperwork but my loved one still does not have what was guaranteed to her. They have not handled the COVID crisis well At All and frankly I am disappointed that my family has chosen Liberty Heights. I have been looking at other locations and plan to move my loved one as soon as this health crisis allows for such a move. With many options in the Springs, I would encourage others to do the same. There are 3 new facilities opening by the end of the year that look promising as well as others up North with more reasonable prices than Liberty Heights.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father spent 15 difficult days at Liberty Heights. On his last two days there they failed to give him his calming medication. He got so agitated the he ran down the hallway headfirst into a wall. He spent the next 10 days at the hospital. In addition to his head injuries he lost: 1. the ability to urinate without a catheter. 2. The ability to feed himself. 3. The ability to walk in his own. The director at Liberty Heights admitted multiple points of failure in training, tracking, and personally failing to check in on my father's aclimation. Ultimately, they only reimbursed my mother for 1/2 of the second month. She paid for two months. He was there 15 days and spent 10 days in the hospital. The good news is that we found an excellent facility that has helped home recover almost to the point he was prior to his damaging stay at Liberty Heights.

Provider Response

At Liberty Heights, the safety and well-being of our residents is always our priority. While respecting the privacy of our residents, I would welcome the chance to speak with you further. I am/was a resident of this facility

Hats off to the Skilled Nursing staff at Liberty Heights! On Friday, February 7th, Colorado Springs received a huge snow storm. TV and radio stations were warning people to stay off the roads because of dangerous conditions. My husband is a patient in the skilled nursing unit. I was most concerned about the care he would receive if the staff was unable to arrive. I knew the night shift had just worked twelve hours and would be exhausted. They also needed to get home to their families. I decided the best plan for me would be to dress quickly and go up to see if I could be of help. Not daring to drive in the snow, I located Desmond, the number one driver for Liberty Heights. He quickly agreed to take me up to Skilled Nursing and made sure I got in safely. Much to my surprise, the night shift had gone home and the day shift had arrived at 6am. Vitals were being taken, pills administered, showers started, breakfast orders were being taken. It was a regular day at skilled nursing! I was truly surprised to see them. I asked a nurse how and why they took the risk to drive in such weather. Her reply was "We are professionals and these are our patients. How could we let them down?" Hats off to the nurses, CNAs, food service, and other staff in the skilled nursing unit!

i believe if i had not moved my loved one out of Liberty heights, they would be dead by now. I cannot agree that the care was quality or that my loved one was cared for. Now they are in a different facility and thriving there. Please look closely and check with state and local agencies before putting your loved one here. The room was always dark and patients were screaming when there did not appear to be any employees around. I also question the quality of the director of memory care and the director of nursing. I only got their attention when i threaten them with the intervention of outside agencies. Looks aren't everything

I visited this facility

I visited Liberty Heights. It was very impressive, clean, modern, and I was just very impressed with the facility and the staff that was there. I was able to see one room, and when I took my mom, they showed us a patio home which we were not interested in. I felt the room itself was adequate, and they remodel after someone moves out, so it’s almost brand new. I saw a craft room, a lot of the seniors were participating, there were exercises, Ta-chi, yoga, and they had games. I was very impressed with the staff members I dealt with.

I was extremely impressed with Liberty Heights. It was a beautiful facility, it seemed like the staff was very caring, and they met the needs of everything that we would need. But now, we are just trying to figure out the financial side of it. The grounds were very pretty and very well-maintained. There were great views, and it was a really beautiful facility.

Our experience at Liberty Heights was very nice. The community was well kept, and their prices were what they were. The staff was very helpful, very informative, and very pleasant to speak with. We were able to look over their menus, and the food options were really great. They had tons of activities. Their security was top of the line and far more secure. It was maybe 25 minutes, but it was very easy to get to. Their apartments are right across from where their garages are so the residents are able to just literally walk across the hall and get into their garage so very convenient. If they want to go to their neighbor’s place, it’s just a walk down the hall, and the same for their dining. Everything is interior hallways so very nice and very secure. They had a gate that you had to go through in order to get in, so I liked it a lot. They also had a locked memory care unit, so we wouldn’t have to worry about the residents wandering out.

Liberty Heights is very large, but what I liked about it is that it had sensory laser detectors in the rooms. The security was very high. It’s a gated community and was very nice. The rooms were fine, they had balconies, porches and patios out back. They only offer 2 meals a day.

Liberty Heights was a large community in operation for a long time with independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing. My husband was in respite with hospice when I went out of town for a few days. The staff was fine. I'm sure he received excellent care. The place was clean and nice, and the food was good. The ratio of staff to patients was very good. His room was nice.

Liberty Heights felt more like a country club than an old folks' home, and we just felt like that would boost my father-in-law's spirit more. The staff was wonderful, absolutely incredible. There were people at the pool doing water aerobics, and people playing Bridge. We saw a lot of different activities. The dining area was beautiful and had a great view. Some of the residents told us that the food was wonderful. It was the nicest place we saw.

I would highly recommend Liberty Heights. They were all very good. The only issue that we had was we wanted something closer to our personal residence because we see our father on a daily basis. Their dining facility and the overall community feel was very good and very impressive. The staff greeted us. We actually knew one of the nurses there. The gentleman that gave us the tour was very professional, and the rest of the staff was very nice and interactive as well. They had a lot of retired military there which was nice too.

Liberty Heights is a really good facility. If I had the financial means, my mother-in-law would probably be there. It is private pay and fairly expensive. I really like the memory care unit. I also have contact with someone living in the independent living side. There, you can participate in the restaurant town meals in the main building. You have the opportunity to basically follow your interests. It is really nice, and although it cost a little bit of an upgrade, it's not bad. In the memory care unit, they can bring their own furniture so they have familiar things around them. It is a very warm caring environment. It is like a gated community for retirees with different levels of caring.

The staff of Liberty Heights is great. They attend to my sister's needs, and she is getting good therapy. The facility is lovely; it is warm and has a good climate. She loves the food. We had a Thanksgiving dinner there, and the food was great. I think the warmth of the staff and the level of activity has been really positive along with the therapy she has been receiving, and I also think the staff has been responsive to some of the unique needs that my sister has as an individual adult with disability.

Liberty Heights was okay. It did match everything that the other facility has except for the price. It was a little bit more pricey for us. Their rooms were a little outdated. They did have activities but they're just standard types of things. They have bingo, exercise classes, trips, etc. However, their food was very good.

We didn't see the assisted living facility of Liberty Heights only because all of them are occupied. They didn't want to disturb the occupants, which was totally understandable. However, we did see their independent living, which was a nice facility. The layouts of the apartments were very, very nice. Their staff was very accommodating and answered our questions during our visit. We had lunch there. The dining area was great. It was as good as a 4-star restaurant in town. Their service was impeccable. A member of our church also lives in their independent living side.
