I want to first say that the nurses and CNAs try to do a good job and seem to care about the patients. But the facility is understaffed often. I have had staff tell me this. If a problem is brought up to administration the main reply is the patient "refused care". I have requested phone calls when my mom refuses care and rarely do I receive calls. When I email complaints all of a sudden she refused care. There is no reason for a nursing home facility to run out of functioning portable o2 tanks, in my opinion ever. Yes my mother did have a concentrator in her room, but she is used to the portable and did not want to be in her room. As a result her o2 was at 83 percent when I arrived and a little disoriented. She did not refuse care, she wanted the care she was accustomed to. I have several other complaints, but this resent situation is of main concern. I am in the facility at least 3-4 days a week if not more, so I do notice numerous things... as with all nursing homes be there often and make complaints when things are not done correctly. If discussing concerns with management doesn't work, figure out who to contact for help, as I will be doing.

The price was really good at Colorado Lutheran. They have Bingo twice a week, and they take you for rides to different places. The food was very good, and they had different menus every day.

We found a couple of good places, and one was the Lutheran Home in Arvada where my grandmother was. It was a clean place, and everything was really good there. The staff were really helpful when she was in there. They seemed to be pretty attentive to everybody. Her room was for one person, but they were able to divide the room, and it was quiet and clean. They had a TV room, they had some dancing, and they played bingo as well. The security seemed pretty good. What I like about it is they watch Alzheimer's people pretty closely. The doctors were there, and they're all real knowledgeable.

Colorado Lutheran Home is an excellent facility. It's very clean and everything was good. They also spoke highly about dignity and respect. The only thing why we didn't choose this facility is that it didn't work closely with Kaiser and that's mom's insurance.

Exempla was really our first choice for my brother-in-law because it was close, but they told us that they didn't have an idea when would they have their availability. My grandmother was in there for several years and it went well. I'd say the place is definitely recommendable.
