My mother came to the Bernadette Home Care house in Simi Valley after leaving an Assisted Care facility that did not care for my mother per her needs. She spent time in and out of the hospital because of it. In the 14 months of residency at the Bernadette house, she was treated with personal care and the upmost professionalism. She was not ill one day the entire time she was there and I am grateful that we were able to get her under the care of the Bernadette staff. I will be forever grateful.

My mother is at Bernadette Home Care. It has been really good. This is my first experience with this type of board and care. I was happy with the price. The person who runs it is very sweet. It doesn't matter when I text her or what the issue is. I can call the house and talk to the caregivers, but if I want to talk to the owner specifically, she is responsive within minutes. It's amazing. The staff that is there is always helpful and very good to my mother who is problematic. She can be hard to get along with and is very stubborn, and they have handled her beautifully. As far as their ability to take care of her, they're very on top of everything. When her medication needs to be refilled, they referred me to a good hospice for her. They have made special accommodations and let me move things around because my mother can't see. She can only see if you put a TV in front of her face like within inches. So having a really nice TV on the wall across the room doesn't do her any good. We had to move a few things around and get a TV up close to her, so that she could watch it from bed. My mom has a problem eating at meal time and eating a proper meal. She tends to just kinda want to eat something sweet, so they're good at trying to get things that are a little healthier down her tummy. I have no complaints. In fact, I have been very impressed. They are good to her. They are kind to her. She'll get mad and yell, she can be really demanding, and they will just handle it beautifully. It is really good. I'm really happy. I told them that I'm really appreciative of everything they do because I know my mom is a hard one to take care of. I'm really happy with them and the way they care for my mom. If I'm concerned about something, because my mom will call me, and she'll be annoyed and she'll be angry about something. Like I said, she can get pretty delusional sort of, and I'll say, 'OK Mom, we'll see what we can do." I'll call and talk to them. They're good to let me know without doing it in front of my mom and making her feel bad. They're good to give me answers to my concerns. I'm really happy. I have no complaints at all. They're great. They're fabulous. Food is something I think that my mom has had a little trouble with, but one of the problems is she only wants to eat sweets. She has been this way now for about the last year. I'm not always there at meal times, but if I am there, the food is healthy, fresh, and prepared there. The facility is all brand new and it's very nice. The activity people will come in. Because of COVID, they have to stop that, so it hasn't been this much as it would normally be. It's difficult if your budget is low. I still have her house to sell, not a lot in savings, so this works out really well for us. I'm really lucky to have found them.
