I made the fateful decision to engage Heart And Soul Communities II in San Leandro as a hospice domicile for my spouse as they began their transition from hospital to end of life. After my interview, I believed that this was a vocation for the people involved, rather than their career. Afterwards, I was introduced to each of the residents. I could see how happy and well cared for each of them truly was. I rented a large and beautiful room with a view of the park across the street. I never saw such a commodious room offered anywhere else. My spouse’s hospice time at Heart And Soul Communities II was unexpectedly short. We left the hospital on February 11th, 2023, and my spouse passed away in their room at Heart And Soul on February 17th. During that time, my spouse required intensive, around the clock, hands on care, as they left the hospital with a major pressure wound. Staff was absolutely first rate in their expertise. They knew how to keep my spouse clean, and they were otherwise constantly attentive. Constantly. The staff isn’t just expert. They are compassionate and genuinely care about the people they serve. The proprietor is remarkably flexible and willing to help. For this reason alone, I highly recommend you enroll your loved one at a Heart And Soul Community (they are in Oakland as well as San Leandro). With all of the many things I was having to attend to during this turbulent time, including impending funeral arrangements and financial obligations, I never once had to worry about whether my spouse was being looked after, or whether they were receiving the utmost in quality care. The way the establishment is run, this is a given. It was a tremendous burden off my shoulders. The facility itself is a mid century mansion in the San Leandro foothills that has recently been renovated from top to bottom. There is a beautiful backyard, and it is across from park like land. The meals provided were all excellent, in keeping with the overall level of excellence. Heart And Soul Communities made an indelible mark on my life. I trust it to have the same affect upon yours. I also rejoice for the goodness that can still be found in this world, and, specifically, in Oakland and San Leandro at these facilities. Heart And Soul Communities serve a diverse clientele and is friendly to the LGBTQ community.

Mom is doing good at Heart and Soul. She fit in really well with the residents there. They were more like her in what she was going through. The staff is very nice and understanding. They seem to take really good care of my mom. They have a quiet room where you can sit and talk. The place is clean, and all of the residents seem to be really happy.

Heart & Soul looked more like a home than a hospital, and made it easier to transition my grandmother there. The prices were very reasonable, the other patients that were there were similar in culture to my grandmother, and so it worked out. She is in a shared room, which is spacious and lovely. The private rooms were beautiful, but cost too much. The person that runs the program is amazing, the staff is amazing and take really good care of her. They have a garden, and people come in to do the residents’ hair and nails. I did see the food, it definitely was what I’m used to eating. My grandmother’s complaint was it wasn’t hot enough for her, so they have to reheat it.
