Golden Living of Point Loma is very clean. The staff is caring, and they're the people who actually care for my husband. They have a chef there, there's a variety, and the food is quite good, but he is a diabetic so I have to tell them to remove sugar and stuff from the table. They're very careful about that because he will eat anything that appeals to him. They have chair exercises, all kinds of activities, and outings, but he does not participate in any of them. He prefers to stay in his room and watch TV and read. It's an older building and they are doing things to fix it up. It's very convenient and it's much closer to him. I feel very fortunate to have found it.

If you are thinking of placing your loved one here, think twice. My loved one was there for 8 days and had to go to emergency room twice in within 48 hours of admission. I was never contacted. I went to pick him up to move him to a board and care and he had to go to emergency room immediately because he had a broken hip! He had fallen there and they again never contacted me. He had surgery immediately. They were negligent in his care and in contacting family regarding his medical condition for visits to emergency and when he fell. He has Alzheimers and they probably figured he would not remember the fall. The horrible bruise on his shoulder and broken hip tell a different story.

I visited Golden Living, and it was horrible. It was filthy and smelled bad. The staff was unprofessional, and it was not warm or inviting at all. It seemed like a skilled nursing facility staffed by people who shouldn't be there. The outside looked bad, and when you go inside, it was appalling. It was disappointing because it was in our area. They need to refurbish the entire building and hire professional staff.

I looked at Golden Living of Point Loma. The place was OK. It was a nice facility. The staff was really nice. I saw a couple of the rooms, but did not see any activities. It was a quiet place. They had a dining area, and I think they had a library. It was an older facility, but the people were nice.

The Golden Living was more of a basic assisted living kind of place. The rooms were really nice, but the dining area was like a reception area as well. Their garden was OK, but the facility was hospital-like. The freeway was right outside the front door. The lady we talked to was very helpful and informative; she explained a lot of things to my sister-in-law and my husband, but the facility was not worth the price for a suite-like room because of its location.
