My parents are residents of The Park at Modesto. They have lovely care there. It's a very nice place; very clean. Everybody's very friendly. The food is good. Everybody's cared for well. I like the place. I just wish it was closer to me. My parents are in a one-bedroom. It has a full kitchen. The bathroom is very well-fitted for anybody with disabilities. The facility is just good. It has a grand piano that my mom could play and it's a nice place. The staff was very good, professional, kind, and loving. The food is very good. They change it up quite often and you can always order or request it if you don't want something on the menu.

There wasn't a wow factor at The Park at Modesto, but it was just average. It looked fairly clean. I went in, talked to a few people in there, and looked around, and that's about it. I talked to one staff member, and she was quite pleasant. She was okay. We didn't spend a lot of time there. Once we got into the cost, we felt that this wasn't going to work for us, so we moved on. Their lobby was kind of their common area. I don't remember anything outstanding about it. I don't remember anything that I didn't like about it. It was clean, and it had chairs and sofas. It was like a gaming room and stuff like that.

We stayed in The Park at Modesto Independent Living Community. It was very good. It was very nice. The unit was good. We were in a bedroom-and-den that had two bathrooms and a full kitchen. It's only a couple of years old, so it's new and modern. All the staff were really helpful. I made friends there, and the residents were very nice. They had really good activities. The food was excellent. They had a chef that was excellent. They had various kinds of cards and games that were played at various times. If people suggested another one they wanted, they would start up a new one. They had musical groups who would come in from time to time and would perform, and that was always good. They participated in the car show in Modesto, and so some of the cars from that came there. They had a bus, and they would take you to places. They had regular trips to the casino and to different activities that were happening in the community; they would take them there, too.

My father will be moving into The Park at Modesto. We were impressed with it and the tour and how they treated my dad and all the information they gave us. We felt really good about our experience with them. This is independent; there's no assisted living. It just felt like they genuinely cared about the residents. They had options, and if my dad needs help walking his dogs or he needs help with showers or something like that down the road, they have people that can provide some of that. They had a lot of activities there on the premises that my dad could do and we liked the unit. It looks like a one-bedroom apartment and it's updated. He said, "I live in a mansion," so he felt like it was his home. They have a team that can come in for a fee that you would pay out-of-pocket. It's kind of like hiring a dog walker. You would pay so much money an hour and maybe they would come in and help you and do whatever it is that you need. There just seemed to be flexibility. They're willing to hold the unit for us until November. The deposit wasn't outrageous and it's refundable. I just felt like the whole experience was very friendly. My father was excited. The staff was what sold my dad. He just kept saying how nice the lady was. It's all-inclusive, and they offered meals every day with the exception of dinner on Saturday and Sunday. What they provided on Saturday and Sunday was a bistro that's like a cafe that's open next door. I believe it's open every day, but it's open on weekends for dinner, for a very affordable price. They have breakfast and lunch every day, dinner five days a week. They're known for their food. There's a spot where you, as the resident, can go and pick up your food and then take it back to your room. They offered us to eat at the bistro because it was a Saturday. They were going to purchase a meal for us, but we already had something in mind afterward. They have a little dog park.
