I cannot express enough gratitude for the wonderful experience my mother had at Subgarden Terrace over her 12 years there. From the moment she arrived, she flourished in an environment that felt like home. The staff treated her like family, always going above and beyond to ensure she felt loved and supported. She made lasting friendships and created beautiful memories that truly enriched her life until the end. The community fostered an atmosphere of warmth and compassion, making it a place where residents could thrive. We are forever thankful for the exceptional care and support provided by the staff. They became an extension of our family, and we will always cherish the time my mother spent there. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a nurturing and vibrant environment for their loved ones.

My friend is a resident of Sungarden Terrace Assisted Living and Memory Care. I'm very impressed with the staff. It's a very warm caring community of staff. I think they go out of their way to make people feel like they're at home. The food is excellent. I have eaten there several times. They have a chef, so not only do they look at the individual diet, but they have a nice presentation. The meals are nice. They have a large range of activities that are available to the people who live there. They have gone out of their way to try to engage my friend in these activities. They communicate with me all the time if there's something that he needs or if there's any issue. I highly recommend them. The food, I would be gaining weight. It is restaurant quality. They have a variety and they post the menu. It's a very nice facility.

I toured Sungarden Terrace Assisted Living and Memory Care. The memory care unit was very small. It seemed to be for people who were more advanced. It had an open garden patio, and the residents could go out there. The activity room and the dining room were all one space. The upkeep seemed good. It just wasn't very lively in there. It was very depressing. They had a pretty roomy patio area. Residents were out there walking. They had benches and grass. I think there were some planter boxes too. The patio was nice. There was someone who was doing nail painting when we went.

My dad moved into Sungarden Terrace Assisted Living and Memory Care. It's a great place, and what's nice about it is it has a piano in the memory care area. That was important to me for my father because a lot of places have pianos, but they're in the assisted living area. And so, the fact that they have one in memory care is a huge plus. It is a very nice place. The staff is excellent. I've tried their food and it's excellent. Everything about this place is great. I like it. Everything is clean. The layout is very nice and very simple to understand. They have an outdoor walking area around the memory care. Every day, they have activities. They have a calendar and they're very good activities. Everything they have done is excellent. I have nothing to complain about. They've really helped me. The best part is they're affordable.

My mom moved into Sungarden Terrace Assisted Living and Memory Care. The upkeep is very nice and always has a fresh and clean smell. The facility is nice and presentable. I'm very happy with it. The staff members were nice and smiling. They all make it a point to greet my mom using her name for familiarity. They are very friendly and upbeat. They have activities, like games, exercises, and music. My mom has been very happy with everything. They have a movie theater, a couple of different game rooms, and a hairdresser. The cafeterias are nice and laid out very nicely. The rooms are all very nice. From what we saw, the food looked really good. The staff even eats there because they enjoy the food so much. They have a daily calendar of all their activities. I know my mom's participating and enjoying it.

Sungarden Terrace was much smaller compared to the other place we visited. They offered first and second floor studio, which was really nice. I liked the second floor, and it was almost $200 difference. My friend can take the elevator up. The facility was clean and well kept. I did not have much interaction with any staffing. I think I was introduced to a couple activities' people in passing, and they all seemed friendly enough. She gave me a newsletter that has special activities. They have both memory care and assisted living there, so that would be kind of a one stop deal. I got to look at the rooms and the common areas. The director of marketing admission was really nice. They had a movie room that had all the chairs set up. They had a popcorn making machine, and that was very popular. She showed me all the different areas. She said that if he needed any furnishings, they had some furnishings. They could help furnish the room. They have the regulars each meal, then they can pick something different off the little menu (if they wanted to have a cheeseburger instead of a bowl of soup). The second floor studio was nice, open, and airy. They try and create an atmosphere where it's bright, sunny, and cheery. I had a good feeling about that one. They had laundry services and snacks. If somebody wanted to have a cup of coffee, they have the coffee place they can just walk to. They have activities. They had a room for physical activities they can do with them. They had libraries, a common area or a family room if somebody wanted to just go watch TV or something, and they have special events planned. The dining area seemed well kept and gave people room. It was nicely set up. With the little contact that I had with anybody, they all seemed very outgoing and very cheery. It seemed like they were there for the people that were living there. It didn't look like they didn't want to be there or that this was the only job that they could get. They truly were there because that's the environment that they want to be in.

My husband has moved into Sungarden Terrace. The staff is wonderful and the care he is receiving there is wonderful. They're very friendly. It has a homey feeling. He gets really good care there. They do some activities, but I don't think he is as involved. It's a little bit harder to get him to do activities, but they had talked to me and asked me to bring some magazines for him to see if that would help him. He's a little bit more advanced than some of the residents there. Due to that, it's a little bit challenging to do activities with him. He's in the memory care. He gets really good meals there. He's happy with the staff. The staff is very friendly and they try to do things to get to know him better. Even the residents, it's kind of a very family-like feeling. I go during dinnertime. A lot of the times when I go, I end up feeding him. Everything looks good. We had Thanksgiving meal there and it was really good. For a facility, something like that, you can't expect like a restaurant quality, but it's better than the previous places that he'd been to. The staff is absolutely wonderful. The facility is really clean. It's worth it.

I visited this facility

I toured Sungarden Terrace about a year ago. It was a very pleasant assisted living community. Everything was very clean. It had lots of areas where people could sit outside their rooms, and there were different small community areas. It was an older facility, but you wouldn't really feel that way, and it felt clean and pleasant, too. The assisted living area would have been a good place. They had some outdoor spaces and outdoor eating spaces, too. They also showed me the memory care because my dad has a dementia diagnosis. It seemed like he would be able to live in assisted living until he couldn't manage that type of thing, so I think they are flexible on where the people would live depending on the person and not depending on the diagnosis, which was nice. The memory care area was definitely for more moderate-to-severe memory issues. It was smaller and secure, but it was part of the building. It did have a little bit of outdoor space. It felt very chaotic, so it didn't seem very peaceful, but that's just the nature of memory care to some extent. Since Lewy body dementia is different from Alzheimer's, that part of it would not be conducive to my dad as far as his condition, especially now. It would not be a good match for Lewy body because it was too cramped, too loud, and a little too chaotic in the memory care area for that type of dementia. They have a library and a courtyard -- like an outside area where they can go -- and they're very reasonably priced for what they offer.

I visited the Sungarden Terrace in Lemon Grove. The lady that helped me, I think her name was Susan, was very nice and very informative. She showed me the whole place, it was a nice tour. She took me to the rooms, she showed me a unit that my mom would be using and what it would be like. She took me outside to see the gardens, the patio, and the lovely grass areas. She also took me to the dining hall, to the TV room, and library. There was a theater there and she also took me to that. I think she tried to show me an overall concept of what it would be like there. She was very informative about what's available there. About how anytime I could visit my mom if she ended up going there and how that works with this COVID thing. She also gave me a package to take home which I still might fill out just in case something would happen and my mom would have to go there in April. She even gave me information about the program that I could get extra funding from, since my dad was in the army, she gave me a contact for that. She followed up on me with a phone call a couple of days later. She also told me that they stream in my mother's church which I knew my mom would be happy about if she went there. That would be an important thing for her. We also went over the cost, how the arrangement would be and how we would be paying, and all that. She's really very thorough. The place was very clean and very neat. I was highly impressed with them, I was just not ready. It looked very presentable and very inviting.

My friend has moved into Sungarden Terrace. They have his food mechanically chopped, and they do not charge extra for that. They also did not have to put him in their skilled living. They have cute little studios. I got to see his room just once for about an hour because they only gave us an hour to move him in. His room was very clean and cute. The person during the move in was very nice, very helpful, and very calming. I have no complaints whatsoever. They have very kind and attentive activity staff.

My mother-in-law has moved into Sungarden Terrace. They are very welcoming and they offer full services. My mother-in-law is doing quite better than where she was before. The staff members are great. They're very helpful. My mother-in-law is sharing a room with a really nice lady, and that helps because she doesn't like to be alone. They have activities where they will get them to play cards, to color, and to sing songs. They do a good job of getting her out there. My mother-in-law gets full service. She has Alzheimer's and dementia so she needs a lot of care. They check of them every half an hour, which is good. They have a library, a sitting room with a TV, and some walking areas. They also have a van that takes people who are more ambulatory around. They take them shopping and to the movies. We are happy with the place. The meals are good. The place is well laid out, and it is nice that they have a separate, more comfortable section for the memory challenged people. They're very good. They're not the cheapest, but it is good value because my mother-in-law is getting a lot of extra care.

My appointment at Sungarden Terrace was really very impressive. It was outstanding. It’s probably a newer community, because it looked new, clean, and set up pretty nicely. The staff was excellent, I even saw the cleaning lady go by with the cart, everything was very neat and she was so nice. One of the tenants there had stopped and spoken with her, and she was very friendly with her. She even talked to me for a minute about how she was excited about her art class and was able to do art even though she wasn't artistic. They also had music, a game room, library, and theater, and I was impressed with that. Plus they had a mass or church thing going on on Sundays for people who want a service. They have a bus to take the residents to the mall, or take them to little things going on around the community that they want to attend. They had a salon where they can get their hair cut or colored, and a barber cuts their hair. They had nice planned meals and menu where they offered different things. A guy would come in to play the piano once or twice a week, during lunch or dinner time. Somebody else would come play the violin as well. The rooms were all very nice too, I really like the setup, and the bathrooms were clean. It seemed very nice there.

My mother likes Sungarden Terrace. It is the only one that we toured that she likes. It is warm and not overly decorated. It is not like a hotel; it is more like a community. The staff was very factual, answered all of my questions, and explained the procedures for putting someone in assisted living. They were the only ones who gave us the form that the doctor had to fill out. They were very calm, informative, and didn't give us the hard sell. These people were more interested in helping. My mother has a place there, but she will not move in until after Christmas. She has a studio, which is just one room with a bath. My mother likes the food. As for activities, they have the kinds of things that interest my mother. They have Bible studies, and a priest that comes and conducts mass, including a Christian service, in their actual chapel. They have some exercise programs and bring in outside speakers. They have a covered patio area where they have barbecues in good weather.
