I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad is a resident of Wesley House III. The way the Wesley House works is that they have six men in one house, and they have six women in the other house. It's fairly expensive, but they have lots of staff. It's like houses where you can sit in the sitting room and talk to people. It's very home-like. There are two people per room, but the rooms are very big and there's plenty of room for wheelchairs and walkers. The staff is very caring. The food is really good, too. The kitchen is like the kitchen in your house, and it always smells good because they're always cooking the next meal. My father's room has minimal furnishings in the sense that it's not all cluttered and medical and all that kind of stuff. It's not like a hospital. The place is for people who can't do a whole lot. They've got gardens, some birds outside, parakeets, and they have books like crazy. My dad needed us to bring a radio because he likes the NPR and things like that, and that they weren't really doing that. It does seem like most of the people there are just very feeble, and I don't know if all those things, like balloon volleyball and all those kinds of things, would even be relevant. But they're interacting with each other and interacting with the staff. You have to understand that this is a place for people who have had strokes or who are very old and very frail. Some of them need memory care, so it isn't a standard assisted living place, this is for people who need much more care.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father-in-law has been at Wesley House III since November. It's a couple of houses that have been a senior living place for about 60 years. The house is well-maintained, and the grounds are beautiful. My father-in-law is quite happy there and feels very well taken care of. He is happy with the food there, he started gaining weight. There aren't so many activities going on there. There's TV, some music on occasion, and walks in the garden because a lot of the residents are not ambulatory. The staff is wonderful. They have a personal relationship with the residents. The house has maybe 10 residents, and there's about the same number of staff that are on the caring side. They just are personable and they treat the residents like family.

I visited this facility

The staff at Wesley House II & III is high quality and skilled. I am going to give them a very good review. They are a very good place. They were open so I was able to go in and look around. I was able to talk to the people that owned it. It is very well laid out, specially for the elderly. It has a bright sun room and a good backyard. This place is for very sick old people. It is not one of those social clubs. They have a hair salon and a place where you can walk; but other than that, there is just a beautiful yard. I became familiar with the food while my mom was there and it was adequate for her needs.
