We had my father-in-law at Brookdale Scotts Valley. They're very caring. Excellent staff. It was a nice facility. They had accommodations that made the financing at least possible. They were able to accommodate us, and they took very good care of my father-in-law, and he was quite happy there.

I was greeted when I entered Brookdale Scotts Valley and immediately, someone was walking with me and he was showing me everything that they've got. We were walking through mid-morning, and there were certain activities going on in the activity rooms and I got to see the bedrooms. I stayed there and had lunch in the dining room area. It was a very pleasant walk around and very friendly. I enjoyed it. It looked like a nice place. They had apartments where if you had your own furniture, you could move your own furniture in. They had some that had bathrooms and bathtubs and all, and some that didn't. I think the toilet was always there, but some had more of a full bathroom. Some were 1-bedroom apartments and some were more of a studio. Some had nice living rooms and some had kitchens. Some had the stove and the refrigerator. There were pianos in different places where people could play the piano. They had TV rooms and rooms that had a stage where you could perform. They had nice outside areas, and it was all nicely gardened.

Brookdale Scotts Valley was nice. Everybody we talked to was great. The only downside was that it would require a lot of walking for the residents. We saw 1-bedroom and studio apartments, and the layouts were fine. They had a game room, a movie room, an exercise area, 2 dining rooms, and a private dining room that could be used for family. We saw the residents watching a movie while we were there. It was a good place.

I went to Brookdale Scotts Valley. The place itself, the condition of the building themselves, and the structures themselves, are seriously outdated. They need an upgrade. For the same expense. It just doesn't make sense. The staff is great. It wasn't as polished. It was worn, old, and just not as clean as the other place. There was a very different atmosphere and it was disappointing because that was the one where I wanted to have my mom. I live just down the street and I really wanted that one to work and it was just, the rooms were incredibly outdated. They had wall heaters from the seventies. The person that I was talking to that I liked there, she was terminated and corporate was there to fill in her spot. And I did not like that person as much. The conversation was more sterile, so it was not on the same level.

Brookdale Scotts Valley was a terrific place. It was very nicely maintained. The rooms were quite large. The facility was quite large, too. It's for somebody who can largely get around. They expect you to go to the dining room for food. You are responsible for your own clothing. They do linens, but you have a washing machine for your clothes. The staff who gave us the tour was nice. We got introduced to the chef. I think he was trying to do cordon bleu-style food, and the food looked terrific. The guy was taking food seriously and the description of what they served was like a nice restaurant.

I have looked at Brookdale Scotts Valley. It was a very enjoyable tour. The facility was nice, bright, and well-maintained. The staff member was very friendly. It just didn't fit my mom's. However, it was something that my husband and I might be looking into a little bit in the future. The place was very nice, and I liked what I saw there. It was a very positive experience. They had a lot of nice socializing spots. They had a library that was nice and filled with lots of interesting books. The rooms looked nice and clean. I didn't sit in on any of the activities. I looked at their activity board and it was like lots of things happening, so it looked like there were activities regularly. The residents were encouraged to participate. The rooms were spacious. It seemed like it was pretty well maintained. I liked the setup. It doesn't look like a very large facility from the outside, but the design of it was kind of a horseshoe, so you could get around a lot of the area without going outside. I thought it was well set up, and the design of it was well done.

Nice looking facility, food pretty good, love that pets are allowed. At first things were great. As health declined things not so good. Small dinning room closed too far of a walk to big dinning hall. He started missing meals. No one really checked on him enough. They would peek in and see he was sleeping so choose to let him sleep. Someone was supposed to make contact if 2 meals missed. Nope. Person who visited most was not allowed in any longer due to vacine status. He layer in urine for 3 days before Someone realized he needed medical attention. 911 called. If you are not going to allow family or friends to visit even though medical reason for being unvacinated, for God sake make sure someone is checking. Once he woke to take meds and it was unnoticed he was soaked in urine gave meds and walked out. Wow really. Nursing staff short staffed, duties required by licenced nurse was being passed down to med tech or at least the ones who didn't refuse to jeopardize their job. Didn't seem staff were team players. Covid-19 put stop to activities

I did a tour of Brookdale Scotts Valley. It's absolutely beautiful in there. Their staff was friendly, and the people were friendly. It's somewhere I'd want to go. They have three meals a day, snacks, and housekeeping. The grounds were beautiful. It's like a five-star hotel. We had a sandwich, and the food was good. During lunch, they have a Tuna sandwich for the lunches, but if you don't like that, you can flip the page over and there are nine other sandwiches. They send out an activity list every Saturday or every Sunday. When we were there, it was Memorial Day weekend. They had just had a concert in the park. We looked at a one-bedroom and a studio and they were nice. They were clean and big. You can have pets there, too. You could have a cat or a dog. It was absolutely beautiful, and they were working hard to get the price lowered for us, but my in-laws just couldn't afford it.

The place we went to visit was called Brookdale Scotts Valley. They were very nice and very helpful. It's a very nice and beautiful facility. It was wonderful. It would have been something that we would have considered; however, when my husband's aunt's actual needs were determined, the cost was significantly higher than what we were quoted. When we got there, we realized everything was an add-on, like showering was an add-on and medication was an add-on. All these items were add-ons that like quadrupled the price. That's just not something that we can afford at this time. We did not eat there when we visited. We just toured the facility. Because of COVID protocols, their dining room was closed, and they were serving meals individually to each person in their room, so nobody was gathering for meals. Activities were going on and they had a list of activities.

If I needed to be in an assisted living, Brookdale Scotts Valley is where I would go. There were several things I liked about it. One resident called for help, and the help was there within less than one minute. I was impressed with their quick response. I was also very impressed with the food. They have three meals a day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and a good selection for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The place was very clean and well-maintained. I would enjoy walking outside there. They had very well-maintained grounds for walking and easy access to all areas of the grounds for the residents. If there was a fire, they'd have plenty of exits. They have a fire sprinkler system. It's certainly a safe place to live. I'm very pleased with the lady that we met, Andrea. She knew every resident and said hi to them by name. They have 75 residents right now. We must have ran into at least eight of them, and she recognized every one of them and acknowledged them with their first names.

I went to tour Brookdale Scotts Valley. I like the setting. It is in a nice area. There are lots of greenery. Their outdoor area is really pleasant. Then, there are lots of lights within the building, and it's very clean. However, you walk in there, and most of the people were either had canes or in wheelchairs, so for someone like my dad (My dad is 86), who lives in his own house and walks every day, I think that could be discouraging. If I were to take him there, I think he would walk right out the door literally. It's expensive. The smaller room, which is maybe what he might be able to afford, is too small. They're full dining, so you're paying for someone to eat three meals a day and the rooms don't have ovens, which is understandable because you've got an older population that may forget to turn off the oven, but I don't know if we're quite there yet. I thought the staff was very helpful. The rooms are very plain. They've got an older carpet, but it's in good shape. They had a little store, a little library, an outdoor area and a dining hall, and all sorts of things. The biggest thing would be is that it's just out of our budget; it is expensive.

I found Brookdale Scotts Valley for my husband and he's moving there tomorrow. It's very convenient to where we are and it looks like people are very content there. There are activities for people to do, and the room is very nice. The property has a very nice appearance inside and out, the various activity rooms seem to be nicely set up, there's a lot of light, and it certainly looks very clean. I met the staff most responsible for the day-to-day goings-on at the facility and then the director. I took my husband back a second time and we had lunch. We were there yesterday and we had lunch also. It's good, I think there's plenty of choices, and I think that he could get a very balanced meal. That sounds good to me too.

The property is generally well maintained all be it a bit dated. The rooms are not as bright as some might like but they try to keep maintenance up and are quick to repair when necessary. The biggest challenge is the short-staffing... just a reality of the area and economy but the staff they do have is almost entirely caring and compassionate. It is routine to see management helping out when staffing levels are low and everyone tries to hustle without making the residents feel rushed. No place is perfect but Brookdale is pretty darn good!

The rooms at Brookdale Scotts Valley seemed a little bit darker and a little bit older and could be updated. The residents I talked to were very happy. They had a variety of rooms, but I only saw the studio. The common area was nice looking and seemed more updated than the rooms themselves. The staff was very helpful.

Brookdale Scotts Valley would be my first choice. It is beautiful. The staff is very nice and very helpful. The place seems to be very clean. They have an exercise room, a big dining room like a restaurant, and beautiful grounds with pathways to walk on.

Brookdale Scotts Valley is a good place. I like that the rooms are apartment style and there's a lot of people there. They have a great restaurant with a pretty good menu, and they serve three meals a day. The staff is pretty good and they have a lot of activities for the residents. I take her to her doctors' appointments, but they could also take her. They do housekeeping once a week, laundry, and bring the food to her room if she wants. They have both independent and assisted living. It would be a lot better if they opened up their other restaurant.

My experience with Brookdale Scotts Valley (formerly Oak Tree Villa) was 99% positive. My mother spent 3 years there and passed away there under Hospice Care at the age of 95. She was well cared for and happy with her living environment. I too was very pleased with the staff's attitude and abilities. Even in my mother's most difficult moments she was treated respectfully and patiently. Besides being supported by the staff at Brookdale she was also well received by the other residents. She had aphasia after her stroke (inability to speak) yet the other residents welcomed her at meals and in the common areas. As an assisted living facility Brookdale is not perfect, no such residence is but it far exceeded my expectations and those of my mother. I would not hesitate to refer a friend or other family member there. Ruth E. (the executive director) has done a superb job of hiring and managing since she took over her position. She has set a tone in the "home" of everyone helping each other out that makes Brookdale Scotts Valley a pleasure to live at. They have my thanks and respect for years of caring for my mother. I was there 2-3 times each week over that time period and always happy that my mother was able to live there. Thank you to all that cared for her there, Norman Tardif

Sadly, since Brookdale took over service in the facility has gone downhill. There is not enough staff should you need physical assistance or in the dining halls. Staffing is so bad they recently closed the small dining room for a month+/-. For some residents in the far wing of the building, making the long trek to the main dining hall was tiring, painful and for others - downright dangerous! The theft issue was finally addressed, and though they replaced the carpet in one hallway, the rest of the building has remained neglected. This all seems to be coming from corporate, milking profits to the detriment of the residents. Many of the staff are of high caliber. But is must be depressing for them to see things go downhill and be so overworked. That must account for the high turnover. Personally, my father wants out!

Brookdale Scotts Valley seemed to have a lot more activities. They had religious services. They had different weekly group stuff that my dad would like. It was small, and it seemed a little bit more run down than the others, but they were remodeling. The kitchen area wasn't super nice. It just wasn't really appealing to me. It seemed more like a skilled nursing facility than assisted living. I saw a studio apartment, and it was adequate in size.

My husband is in Brookdale Scotts Valley (formerly Oak Tree Villa), and I like it. It just needs to be updated in terms of paint and rugs, but the layout is great. The food is good. The staff, especially the physical therapy, is great. Generally, I like it very much. They have movies, bingo, bridge, dominos, activities, birthday parties monthly, special speaking events, music groups, and make every holiday special. For 25 years, it was Oak Tree Villa, and just last summer, Brookdale bought it. They put in security in the hallways, new locks on the doors, and got a new car. They really do need to give it a new facelift. It's middle of the road: not real expensive but not real cheap.

I've been in Brookdale Scotts Valley (Formerly Oak Tree Villa) for seven days now. I chose them because they had everything we needed. They've been very faithful, and caring in their approach to me. They bring me my pills not just once, but many times during the day. They're very friendly. The building is quite large, and it's built on a gently rolling land. They built parts of the community on different elevations, but some of the elevations are really just about that much. One floor is about half the size above the first one. My apartment is called a large studio, and I'm so delighted with it because they haven't wasted a lot by building walls within the apartment. It has a small bedroom that's big enough for my bed, and a couple of inches of width on both sides that can be walked on. There are lots of empty spaces. It's so delightful that I can grab my wheelchair anywhere around it. I haven't gotten acquainted with any of the activities, but there are lots of things going on. It's the best place I've ever lived in.

We are currently living in Brookdale. I was impressed with it. It’s a much smaller community, and had only one floor. They did not have an enclosed courtyard, but they have outdoor areas where residents could walk around. It has a very lovely view of the ocean, and has a homey atmosphere. They serve meals at specific times, but you can also come at any other time to eat.

Things start out good, but your family member may soon start reporting disappointment, concern or even fear. So much is happening there it's hard to keep track of. Theft among new residents is very common. It has been an ongoing problem for 10+ years! Check your monthly bill. It's not uncommon to be billed for things that didn't happen. Check on your family member often. Be sure they are getting their correct medications - especially after a surgery. So many things seem to get missed. And don't trust that any special "arrangements" that are made for your family member will happen i.e. we will check on her every two hours. Trust me - it doesn't happen! Brookdale is severely understaffed and your loved one could wait a half hour or more just to use the restroom if they are unable to get there on their own. There are some truly excellent, compassionate caregivers there - they are just spread too thin. Brookdale Scotts Valley is a mess. The turnover is constant. That in itself says something. If the employees aren't happy, surely there's a bigger problem. Thefts for 10+ years - that's a problem! And in case you are wondering - I got my family member out!

My mom is living at Brookdale Scotts Valley (Formerly known as Oak Tree Villa) for a month-and-a-half now. We chose the place because of the amenities that it has, and it’s close to where I live. It’s a nice community. I just thought it would be good for her, and it turns out it is. The people are very helpful. They assisted my mom’s medications, bathed her, and escorted her to the dining room. They clean her once a week, very nice. They have a beauty salon and bingo; on a weekend sometimes they offer the people entertainment, singing, or a musician come in.

It was called the Oak Tree Villa, but they changed it to Brookdale. It was very nice. I liked it because it was close to my son. It seemed well-kept. I think they had classes like arts, sewing, and different things like that, but they don't have a pool. I am afraid the room that I want is too expensive, and they are quite small. The staff was very nice.

My mother lives there and was robbed shortly after moving in. This was reported to the Scott's Valley Police Dept. as were numerous other thefts that have occurred and have been ongoing for over ten years. It doesn't appear that anyone is addressing the problem. Be wary of having a loved one move into this facility before checking out the Scott's Valley Police Dept. log.

We liked Brookdale Scotts Valley, but my father doesn't want to do it. It seemed clean, well-organized and pleasant, and the staff was very helpful. I enjoyed the tour. They had nice apartments. I wasn't blown away with how great they were, but I thought it had a nice set up and more than adequate. We visited the dining room, but we didn't eat. They seemed to have a nice menu. They made the dining room feel homey and not too hospital like or cafeteria like. One of our requirement was that he will be able to keep his dog and they allow that there which I liked. It seemed friendly and the people seemed to be happy where they were at. I thought they were providing the needed service. My impression of the place was very positive. They had buses that took people out. You could go to church. They had activity room. It was in a nice neighborhood and I thought it was secured.

I like the layout of the apartments at Brookdale Scotts Valley (Formerly Oak Tree Villa). They were very nice. I went into a loft-type and a one-bedroom. They were both very attractive. I was impressed with their apartments. They also have a library there. I think maintenance was OK. They get right on the problem if you got a leaky faucet or something like that. The problem I have is the expense. Brookdale runs around $3000 to $3500, but if you wanted something extra from what the plan was, you would have to pay for it.

We were impressed with Oak Tree Villa. It was a very nice facility, and my husband liked them very much. There were several apartments that we saw; the third one was small, which was for people of more limited funds, but we liked all three of them. All the services were a la carte, and it could get kind of pricey. The staff seemed very friendly and helpful. We did meet the director, and we did see a few of the patients. It seemed like the interaction between the staff and the patient was very cordial. There weren't any activities going on when we visited, but it seemed like there was a lot of stimulation. There were some exercise classes going on, and they go to different places to go shopping.

Oak Tree Villa was an excellent facility. I had my mother there. We chose it because it was convenient. It is near the community where I live. It was an upgraded community. It was very, very nice. It had an environment of more of a retirement and residential as opposed to a hospital environment. It was really great. I was able to try their food and the food was good. They had two dining areas. They had a chef, and they offered incredible menu everyday. It was excellent food. The whole facility was really good. They had a full range of variety of activities. They also had transportation to appointments to the community. They had good, 24-hour around the clock security and nurses and security on grounds. Oak Tree Villa is just a place that I intend to go when I need to and I had my mother there. I think that's a really strong recommendation. It is excellent.

Oak Tree Villa was lovely. The staff was so nice, but I couldn't remember her name. They showed us around. They explained everything. They offered to let my parents come there for a month to try it out. The rooms were nice. I didn't try the food there, but it looked very good and very healthy. A lot of people were eating. So it must have been good. The activities looked fabulous. They had people to pick them up and take them to places. I thought they were wonderful, and I thought the place was wonderful. My sister liked it, too. My dad wanted to go, but my mother refused to go.

Oak Tree Valley is very big; its layout is very large. It has three or four different buildings and two or three different levels. There were two dining rooms and one was very big; you could end up very far in the dining room. I spoke with a couple different people and they were all very nice. I was looking at studios for my mother, and the studios are a nice size. It has a bathroom and a kitchen with a little refrigerator.

Oak Tree Villa was just down the street from us, and we've been there many times. We had friends who had stayed there, and they had been very satisfied. I visited Oak Tree Villa when I was looking for a place for my mother. It was nice. They didn't seem to be as active as the other place where my mom was; however, I was there only briefly. It seemed to me that it was just very clinical. It reminded me of a nursing home rather than an assisted living home. My suggestion is for them not to be quite so clinical. It was nice and clean; when I went to the desk to ask a question, they were very helpful.

Everything is really nice at Oak Tree Villa. My mother is really happy there, so that's the bottom line. However, she is becoming forgetful. I don't know if it's dementia or Alzheimer's and they don't have the license to treat people of that nature.

Oak Tree Villa is a really nice facility. Our family was real pleased with their service and professionalism. My grandmother moved in and was followed by her younger sister (my great aunt.) The assisted living facility apartments were really nice too along with the physical environment. We also loved how each resident could chose the level of assistance needed too. I ate there with my grandmother and the food was excellent and had a nice variety of food that you could chose from. Oak Tree Villa also had parking spaces for residents who could still drive along with a mini bus that took other residents on outings. Also, Oak Tree Villa had activities for residents to attend along with a barber shop that residents could go to. The local library also maintained a small library at the facilities for the residents. The only negative thing I can say about Oak Tree Villa is that parking to visit was an issue once in awhile.

This place is great, the atmosphere is awesome the people who work there all know what their doing and love what their doing! I enjoy how they offer live entertainment everyday! They are a little steep on price ( all of them are) but this place was the best bang for the buck. They offer to take the elderly who live there to places on "dates/outings" ect. The rooms are great; not white a bawl, they have life the rooms are all different colors and there are several options of where they can live Thanks!

My and wife looked at several different Centers. Chose Oak Tree Villa, I was impressed by the staff and her room was very nice as well. I like the fact that there are nurses on staff who give out medication to the residences day and night. This facility also provides transportation to and from doctors appointments which is very convenient.I The only down side I can see is the cost. Its little high. I would highly recommend Oak Tree Villa to anyone who is looking Assisted Living Care.

My aunt has been staying at the Oak Tree Villa for the past six months. She was moved there because her son believed that she could not live too much longer on the steep hills of San Francisco. She has really had a mix experience with the people working at this assisted living home. The workers there are kind, sweet and willing to do whatever the patient needs. Yet, they treat the patients as though they are little kids. The caretakers speak to them as though they are superior. My aunt has really been disrespected by their talk. The location and the set up of the assisted living facility is very nice. It is in a nice area and Scotts Valley is in a nice location. My aunt loves the people she has met at the facility and has had a decent experience so far. She still longs to live in San Francisco, but she is content with living in the Oak Tree Villa.

I have referred my long term care insurance clients to Oak Tree Villa for years. One of my dearest insured friends spent a couple years in their care recently, and it was a delight to know he was safe, well fed and in good company. His room had a balcony and enough space to comfortably accommodate his office computer, desk and printer.
