My mother has moved into Granite Bay Villa. It's like a family house in a neighborhood. It's like four clients and a live-in assistant in a house. It's very casual. There are no bells and whistles. My mom has a high level of dementia, so it's kind of boxing her up and putting her someplace safe, and I think they have a good monitoring system and making sure she doesn't get into trouble. The food is OK. It's kind of a buffet of basic food. I'm excited that she's watching TV. For about two months when she was still living at home, she wouldn't even look at the TV or read the newspaper. Now at least I'm seeing her in a community room, being alive. They provide full-time care. The staff people seem to have basic competence, but they're not RN quality. They're like friendly folks who will keep an eye on her. I was seeing places that were charging up to 20 to 40% more and I didn't think the facilities were as nice. They were able to take mom with one day's notice. They have a very "can-do" kind of presentation.
