We are on a waitlist at Fair Oaks Estates. The staff who gave the tour was wonderful and very friendly. The rooms were very well maintained. The sizes were good. This was a large facility, so they had a lot of access to different areas. They had amenities. They mentioned that they had a calendar, so they had multiple activities going on all the time for memory care as well as assisted living. The residents all seemed very happy. They were very engaged.

My mother is at Fair Oaks Estates. It is in a safe environment. The staffing unfortunately changes frequently, so it's hard for anybody to get attached, and regularity is what these older people need. They have many social activities. They have arts and crafts, bingo, a pool table, a TV room, and TV nights. They have all kinds of things to keep people active. They have a store in there that people can go into on certain days of the week with their barrel money from playing games, and they can use that paper money to go to their store to get whatever they are looking for. They do try to take care of their residents in-house. Overall, they have a good program. My mom is in a shared room, which she hates. She wants to be by herself, but it costs too much money. They allowed her to bring in her own personal stuff, so she took up more than half of the room. Her roommate is a nice lady. They try to match people who will get along. Unfortunately, my mother is on her seventh roommate. They have a very good menu and a good food selection. The menus are made up a week in advance, so they try to stick with them. You get what you pay for.

We toured Fair Oaks Estates, and that was really nice visually, but I dont recall the residents being happy with each other. The rooms had two beds to one room, which was kind of jammed with no privacy. Everything was nice, new, on a single level, and it was geared toward dementia patients. it's a big circle so patients can't get lost. The staff member was not very knowledgeable, she walked us around, greeted us, and then somebody else came and walked us around.

Fair Oaks Estates is a very nice community. The people are helpful. It fits our budget, and they're able to care for my mom. It has a memory care attached to it. Everything is very impressive, very clean, very neat, and very tidy. It feels very welcoming. There is a beautiful waiting area in the front. It goes around in a circle, and in the middle is a big outdoor patio. They have an exercise room and a very nice dining room. The private room that we looked at for my mom is a very large and has an enclosed bathroom within the room.

Mom had been in a Nursing Home in Paradise CA after having a heart attack in July. With dementia present, we had been looking for an Assisted Living residence for her- one that had Memory Care on site in case it was eventually needed. When the Nursing Home surprised us with a discharge only a week away, Mom began exhibiting strange behavior, which I attributed to stress over not having a place to go. So, we changed our philosophy from checking out every place we could find to finding one as soon as possible near family in Citrus Heights. The next day my cousin came here and said they filled the requirements we had and the price was right. When I got back in town, I stopped in and put down the deposit. At this point, just having a place for Mom was more important than doing an extreme amount of homework. Mom's mental condition worsened here, through no fault of anyone. From forgetting that she was given meds to coming up with stories of things being stolen (Things we never had in the first place), Mom was a handful. But, Kurt, Rhonda, Parveen, Bea and the entire staff were so very kind and helped to try and ease any anxieties Mom had. Mom passed away yesterday from an Aortic Aneurysm (A condition unbeknownst to us, she apparently had for awhile), exactly one month to the day that she first entered Fair Oaks Estates. Even if we had finished with our exhaustive research (And especially considering we toured and made a decision here in one day), we could not have asked for a better place for Mom to have spent her last month. She was 81, a former Head Nurse, and as independent as you can be, struggling to find herself in this new life where the old TV remote that she had for years was a struggle to comprehend. I want to thank the staff- and the Med Tech's whom she was the most hardest on- for all of their kindness and attention. From the bottom of my heart, they were the absolute best and I could not have been happier with our decision. I love you, Mom. I miss you terribly. RIP

Our experience at Fair Oaks was not good. My mother has brain damage, so I don’t know how much of it was due to her lapse of memory that she tends to misplace things, but she reported missing articles of clothing, missing towels, and her iPad went missing at one point, so she thought people were stealing her stuff. I can’t say one way or another, but there were a number of times when there was this difference of opinion between what she was saying versus what they were saying. I’ve witnessed it myself and caught them straight up lying a few times. They had a very high turnover rate with staff. It seemed like every time I would go to visit, they were almost out of people, and they were just very rude sometimes. It was not a good place. The whole layout of the building is like a big square with a huge courtyard in the middle. There was a lady sitting in a wheelchair, and I thought she was just kind of hanging out in the sun or whatever. But as I walked by, she called my name and asked me to help her. It turned out that her wheelchair got stuck in the mud and she couldn’t get it up over the curb, and so I pushed her out of this mud, out of the sun, and wheeled her inside. There was a lady staff member standing right there who could have easily seen her and helped her in. I don’t know if she didn’t see her or what, but I got the impression that they were understaffed for the amount of people that they had. Mom was constantly asking for them to give her her medicine, and they were consistently late or just didn’t deliver. I was there at another time when somebody was screaming in the hallway because he was stuck and wanted me to help him off the bench and into his wheelchair, which I wasn’t really comfortable doing because I didn’t know if I would drop him or something. I walked literally around the entire building before I finally saw a staff member and told her about this guy screaming in the hall. The food was disgusting.

I visited Fair Oaks Estates, and I loved it there. I was treated wonderfully. It was perfect. They had nice people; it was clean and had beautiful furnishings. It was a huge place and had a lot of things like a gym room, exercise room, and a cafeteria. I enjoyed it. My only one problem is that it’s a long walk from your room down to all of those.

This woman that I'm trying to place is only 52 years old. She has much long-term memory but no short-term memory. Fair Oaks Estates specializes in memory care. It's a large place. The only thing I didn’t like about it is it is very large. It took up three or four large, 2-story buildings. However, it was still maintained beautifully and clean. The apartments were beautiful. They had a walk-in bath tub that impressed me. I only dealt with one lady, and she was very nice.

It's been a pretty good experience so far with Fair Oaks Estates. Mom's only been there for a few weeks. It's a nice facility. They have a lot of activities, they seem to be providing the care that she needs, and they're very friendly. She seems to be really enjoying all the activities. They have exercises, trivia, water colors, crafts, bingo, and sing-alongs. They have parties associated with holidays like super bowl party, as well as private parties like families can come in and have a big party. They can reserve the dining room. It's actually a really nice environment. It's very attractive with a really nice outdoor area. I think I like the size and the whole layout of it. It's medium. It has a courtyard in the middle and the facility wraps around the courtyard. It's rectangular in shape, so it's hard for them to get lost when they're walking around. It seem to be going well.
