My mother-in-law lives at Eskaton Gold River. They're very caring and they're very attentive to her. They provided her with the skilled nursing that she needed when she was a level three, and now she's been downgraded to a level two. So, she's very happy with the location, and everybody's been super nice to her she said. She's taking fitness classes and balance classes. She likes those. She's still having some skilled nursing. And she's also used their driving services to go to her doctor's appointment. They help arrange that.

I toured the Eskaton Gold River. One of the things I like is that they have pre-memory care, so the transition would not be as difficult. I remember the rooms being big. The rooms were very spacious. The caregiver was very passionate about the place and the caregiving. The facility was very clean. The upkeep was great. Everybody seemed pretty happy.

I toured the Eskaton Gold River. It was beautiful and everything looked clean, and it was very organized. It's a little far from my doctors and where I live, and that's the only downside. The staff looked very organized too. Everyone seemed to be very friendly. I didn't see many people, but they looked the same as people in senior living facilities. They were pleasant, not very active but they were fine.

The family has placed my in-laws in Eskaton Lodge Gold River. My mother-in-law is in pre-memory care. They had pre-memory care rather than just assisted living and memory care. It was close to where I and my husband live, but that's like secondary. After they assessed my mother-in-law and her husband, they said that pre-memory care would suit them best for now. I was gone on vacation the entire month, so I'm not sure yet about the staff. My sister-in-law said that there was one staff, in particular, that's very helpful and informative when giving us information on the phone. I visited it before. The room was nice and very small. I think it's like 580 square feet, but it's got a bedroom that's separate from the living area and then a small kitchen, and it suits my in-laws' needs fine. I believe they're going to have most of their meals in their room. Once they're feeling better, they might go to the general dining area, but that'll take some coaxing, and the staff is going to have to work with them. They have a craft room, a therapy room, and a place to get their hair done and things like that. They have sitting areas where they read books or do puzzles. The staff were very informative and helpful and provided us with all the forms that we would need to have the assessments done and things signed by doctors and so forth. I have kind of limited experience yet, but so far, we're fairly happy with them. The only thing we have an issue with is not getting sufficient information when we call in, and that depends on which staff is available to talk to us. The facility itself was nice. There's quite a variety of activities. I think weekly, they go out on the bus, and they can take them to the store or like a general outing for whoever is able and wants to go. They were more comprehensive in their pricing. Some facilities had too many add-ons. With Eskaton Lodge Gold River, some things are already included, so I think it is a pretty good value.

Eskaton Lodge Gold River is probably one of the higher scale places in the Sacramento area. That's where people that have a lot of assets usually go or if they have insurance to cover it. It's a nice facility. I didn't spend a lot of time there. I just wanted to get information and a quick tour. There was nothing negative about it. The chairs and the furniture are probably a bit higher grade than what you get in other places. The level of staff care is very nice. If you walk into the memory care unit, you're going to see the exact same people, and you're going to have a few people that kind of know what's happening in the memory care and can watch a movie. You're going to have the rest of the people kind of looking dazed and some of the people basically just hanging their heads down and just totally out of it. The rooms are really nice and bigger than the room my mom is at right now. They have a couple of different dining areas, and they often separate the memory care people from the others because of issues and behavior problems that they had to solve during meals. It was very nice. The accommodation looks and feels newer, probably because of newer carpet, the furniture was a little bit newer. It was a little bit more upscale. For assisted living people, it would be an enhancement that they would be able to appreciate. But for memory care, not much. It just doesn't matter. There were a couple of different courtyards, but for the memory care, they have one courtyard. It's not as big as the memory care courtyard where my mom is. It was not a bad courtyard. It was just a smaller courtyard. I know they have the same kind of activities that the other memory places have because I read their brochures. But one thing that Eskaton have is they take out memory care people on excursions once a week, if they're ambulatory, and if they can appreciate it. Some of them do. My mother might have gotten a little bit of benefit from that. That is one advantage I'd say that they have that a lot of places don't do.

I toured Eskaton Lodge Gold River. I was inquiring about memory care, but what was great about that facility was that they have transition apartments for someone who might be past assisted living, but they're not quite a complete memory care candidate. They have a separate wing that had extra care but not quite memory care and that was most attractive. Everything was attractive but that was very good to know that they had something that I can have both parents in as they are aging a little bit differently. It was just very wonderful. It was very friendly and upscale, and I just took a wonderful time to listen to what my future might hold, and it was just absolute best. The person who gave us the tour was just so friendly. There's no doubt that Eskaton is the best place to go. The dining area was lovely and warm. It was more elegant than it was cafeteria-style. In their memory care area, they had kind of a couple of small dining rooms. One is for people that are still visiting and communicating, and the other is for those that need more advanced feeding ability. The dining rooms, the tables, and the kitchens were like they were trying to create a home and a wonderful restaurant-style atmosphere. They had activities that ran from 10 to 11 until 2:00 or 3:00 in the afternoon if the people chose so. There's a variety of activities. In memory care, it's a little different. There are more watched- over activities, but they had lovely activities and variety for the memory care from making pizza to playing bingo to keeping them active in and watched.

Eskaton Lodge Gold River had a lot of different areas for different activities. There was quite a bit of space. There were a couple nice patios with sitting areas. They have a movie room, an activity room, and a TV room. The bedrooms or the apartments were spacious. For respite care, they fully furnished them, but if you want to use it full time, you have to provide your own furniture. I was looking for respite and they said they would provide the furniture, but you have to stay at least two weeks long. No food was offered. The couple patios were nice. I like the big electronic boards they have in the hallways that show people the times, and what activities were happening that day. They also have a van where they take people out on little field trips. People were friendly. The actual room the person would have would have a bedroom, and they'd have their own living room area, and their own bathroom with the shower. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and gave a lot of good information. They explained how you become a resident, or the process.

Eskaton Lodge Gold River is a very rich environment, and that means everything is rich -- including the price. It's a nice place, and the people are very professional. They have a very nice marketing style, and I think most people are swept off their feet by them.

I liked Eskaton Lodge Gold River, but it was just too far away. The tour we had was good. They were really nice. The rooms were kind of small but I actually kind of liked that for my mom because she doesn't have to go far from the bed to the bathroom. That was kind of a plus for me. The facility seemed really good and they had good monitoring. They had cameras in the room which were activated by motion, so I really liked that feature. The staff was really friendly. I liked them. It was clean, in good shape, and had a nice setting. They have a nice common area, a dining room, and an activities room.

Eskaton is very nice and clean. The staff is very nice and welcoming. Their activities are really fun to join and be part of. They have a very good structure and organization. The food is good. They also have an option if you don't like what's on the menu, you can order something else. There's really a nice variety of different things that I saw there. I've been to a lot of Eskatons, and out of all of them Gold River has been my favorite. On a personal level, what I noticed is that the staff is so involve with the care of the residents. They know their names, their dislikes and likes, so you know that the care is coming from the heart. It's not just all about professionalism, it's all about to take care of someone with a care and love and the passion that they need. The food is great. The chef will always come out to ask each table how the food was and what they can improve on. They also have food committee meetings. The chef will come out, they'll talk about what they liked, what they didn't, what changes can be made, what more of what they like. I thought that was wonderful. The activities were wonderful as well. The residents get quality care. They have people to give a one-on-one care and there's always an extra person, just in case they need more help.

I've been here at Eskaton for a year now. I came here to convalesce after having a stroke and some surgery. I think I've made good progress. I'm getting along fine and I'm getting a lot of help here with medications and exercises and general living. The staff is very cooperative, very friendly, and they seemed to be happy people. Food is okay. They always have a variety of food that you can order. It's always pretty interesting. They have mental activities, they play word games, ceramics and other crafts, and yoga classes. The housekeeping staff is very involve and very helpful. It's not inexpensive. It costs me roughly $200 a day. But they have a lot of help here. Nothing I could ask for more in the way of service.

This is a lovely, caring place with an outstanding staff—including the caregivers, the housekeepers, the waiters, the medical folks and the front desk. They were responsive and took loving care of our mom in her last year of life in the Dayspring wing where she and our dad, who had Alzheimer’s, could stay together. They are professional, competent and go out of their way to please. Our family felt very at home there and our loved ones felt treasured. The food is good and served in a sun-filled, elegant room. There are plenty of activities. Highly recomended.

I am very pleased with many advantages here at Eskaton. Wonderful receptionists as you enter the building. Helpers all around to guide you when you get lost. Assistants in rooms to make beds, help you to bed. As I am listed independent, I do so much on my own. But girls bathe me. They do my laundry here, hang up my clothes, put them away, and the list can go on and on. I am a very pleased and happy resident! Been here one year.

My mother lived here for almost 3 years. I was so impressed by the friendly, caring staff. They really made me feel good about the care and attention mom was getting, and they loved her like a member of the family. Everyone from the nurses, med techs, caretakers and front desk staff all got to know me by name, and made sure that I knew what always happening with mom. The common areas were always clean and tidy, and usually decorated with flowers or seasonal decorations.

I really like Mom's apartments at Eskaton Lodge Gold River because it's a real apartment and not just a room. She has a 650-square-foot one-bedroom with a kitchenette, a full fridge, and a litte dining room. The room has lots of big windows overlooking some gardens and also has a big bathroom. They have a walking group that she joins every morning. They also have field trips to special cultural places, like the Sacramento Symphony. They serve three meals a day.

The price of Eskaton Lodge Gold River was way too expensive, and it wasn't lively. The staff was very nice to talk to, very friendly, and show us all of the things about the place. It's very nice, but it's expensive and everybody was just sitting around in wheelchairs and looking like they were ready to die. It didn't look very appealing to us, but they had nice rooms. It's a beautiful place with a lot of activities.

Eskaton Lodge Gold River is a very nice place that is well kept up inside and outside. At the time there was a Mardi Gras celebration going on inside the lodge that the residents and visitors were able to participate in that was very fun, and the staff there were so friendly and nice.

Eskaton Lodge Gold River was a very nice facility with very nice rooms and an extremely nice dining room. It's a newer facility and not very large. Also, the staff was very professional. They had a sing-along going on and other activities, like games.

Lived here since Nov 2012. RCH’s, Med Techs, Nurses are all very caring and helpful. They try to make sure we are well and safe. The kitchen staff is very pleasant. We have food committee meetings once a month and our suggestions are well received. The improvement in the food and services are excellent. Our new administrator is the best we’ve had.

Our family has been very pleased with our decision to relocate Mom to Eskaton Lodge Gold River, Memory Care. We have been impressed with the high quality of the programs, the lovely facility, and the well-trained, caring staff. Everyone is helpful and friendly and so caring towards the residents. Mom especially loves the music performances, Kids Connection and the variety of activities throughout the day. The staff goes the extra mile to make life simpler for families. Services such as medical appointments, hair cuts, manicures, and pharmacy deliveries are available in-house. This alleviates many of the errands that we juggled in the past when Mom was at a different facility. At Eskaton Lodge Gold River we can enjoy our visits with her and not have to manage the appointment calendar or make pharmacy runs. It gives me peace of mind to know that Mom is receiving such high quality of care and that she is so content in her new home.

My mom is just being placed at Eskaton Lodge. We are very pleased so far. It is a very clean and very well-maintained facility. They have kind and caring staff from what we can see. We chose this facility because they have a new program that’s called Day Spring Program. Those people had a memory care diagnosis, but they don’t need full memory care yet. They had an intermediate placement where they provide memory care assistance. They are very early on kinds of things they need: reminders to change their clothes and help with their laundry, preparations, and activities that are memory-care based. They created an environment that’s a good middle for my mother before she needs full blown memory care. Everything seems good on the outside too.

When my mom became unable to live independently, we looked at many assisted living communities and ultimately chose Eskaton Lodge Gold River because of the location and the beautiful building -- but most of all because the staff there really cared about my mom and me. When we found out that Mom had cancer, I thought we would have to move her to a more intense level of care, but they not only wanted her to stay in her familiar surroundings, they went out of their way to make sure she was comfortable and helped me and my sisters through the hospice process. I highly recommend Eskaton Lodge Gold River.

Eskaton Lodge has good activities that are going on daily. It keeps the people who are living there active and involved. They also have various activities that take the people in the community out of the area and take them to various shopping areas or music rooms. There are cultural goodies that are added in addition to just everyday living. The food was very good. I had lunch and dinner.

My dad has dementia and Alzheimer's; I was looking for a place for him. I visited Eskaton Lodge Gold River and it's a really nice place. They have a nice brunch and breakfast place. They have an independent level, a mid level and they have a place for people strictly with dementia. It's very clean and it's a very nice place. I like Eskaton Lodge Gold River.

I visit this facility offten and very time I am greeted with friendly staff, the nice elderly lady at the front dest was so nice and welcoming. The building is really clean, I always see somebody cleaning and I think they even have an indoor carpet cleaning professional in the building who takes care of the apartments on a daily basis! I recommend this place if your looking for a great place to call home!

The professinoals at Gold River Eskaton are great! Mom would always tell us kids " I want to pass in my HOME, I am not going anywhere ". She has been a resident now for eighteen months and loves it. She has met new friends and neighbors. When I come to visit she hurry's me out the door because she is on her way to a event or a outing. The staff told me moving her in would be a PROCESS and they were right. But they took their time and gave the family " THE NEXT STEP IS" directions, five months later she move in. Thanks to all

I used Eskaton Lodge for respite care for my mom. The food was very good and they serve any time of the day which was nice. The director was very, very nice. I really liked her. She toured me around. I like that they have companion rooms. My mom had a roommate and they stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment. They have their own bedroom, they share a living room and a kitchen area. They would encourage mom to play bingo or go sing-along and made her get out and do activities rather than just be in the room alone.

Don't be fooled by the way this place looks. It looks very nice. The way this place is run is horrible. Management has lied to me about the care and complaints we filed. Med techs and nurses have no protocal and lost my moms medicine, didn't order refills on time. They have lost test results and not reported results to my mothers doctor. They would call me to go get her prescriptions picked up even though I live a 100 miles away. Never investigated a theft from my moms room. I had to call the CCL (california care licencing) and file a complaint. They found many violations. The investigation is still on going 4 months later. I do know they fired a lot of management. They just replaced them with staff from there corporate office who are no better. Always check with ombusman and CCL for complaints before you make a decision on where to place your relative. Food was pretty good in the begining but the food has gone down hill. Less choices, cut back hours you can eat, poor quality food, canned fruit!

Everything seems wonderful here. The employees are mostly young, but seem to care about doing well at their job, if not the patients. I asked my grandmother if she is liking it here and she says she has fun. She is a big TV watcher so how hard can it be to make that work? I am concerned for her because I naturally don't trust these places. However, she is adamant that she likes it and the staff all seem really nice. I did take a trip down to the cafeteria and it seems like the food is pretty decent. 4 stars.
