I was a rehab patient at Eskaton Village Carmichael. It was clean. I was in there with another person and there was plenty of room for both of us. The staff was very caring. Whenever you need them, you press the bell, and they are there fairly early. It's a big facility but they came within a reasonable time. It's a rehab, so they get you up and take you to the exercise room and do all kinds of exercises. I was on a special diet and I didn't like it.

I did a tour of Eskaton Village Carmichael. I like the financial arrangement, and I thought the grounds were more appropriate. They just offered everything for a single price. They have a gym, a swimming pool, a putting green, and a large park right adjacent to the facility. I did not try the food, but I noticed that for dinners, they have a choice of three entrees. They also have a grab-and-go area. That's very convenient. I saw the food, and it looked excellent. The only staffer I talked to was the person who was the sales agent, and he was very good and very informative. One thing I liked about them particularly was that, at some point in time I'm going to probably need to go from independent living to assisted care. They have that right there, and they also have memory care, which I don't think I may never need, but it was nice to know its there.

The Eskaton Village Carmichael was very nice. The facility is beautiful and they have very nice amenities like the pool, exercise equipment, and the restaurant that looks like the food would be really good. The person showing us around was very, very helpful. We saw a variety of different-sized rooms and it was a good experience. There were one and two bedrooms, there were apartments, and there were cottages. There was a 1-bedroom with a den too so it has a lot of variety. Some were on the ground floor and some were on the upper floors. One place has 3 levels and they're all very tastefully decorated. The floors and the paint and all that were very tastefully done. They have a lovely indoor pool, several workout rooms with nice equipment, a library, and a game room. They have just about everything you can think of. There are even places to walk. We looked at their independent living. They provide rides to stores, doctor's appointments, and things like that, which is very convenient.

We toured Eskaton Village Carmichael. It's a great place, it's wonderful. They had everything. I can't think of a thing wrong with that place except for the price, it's so expensive. They have cards, miniature golf, a swimming pool, everything. If I were to go to one, it would be Eskaton. The staff was wonderful, she was gracious, she knew everything that was going on, and she knew the people. We walked by, and she knew everybody by name.

I was in Eskaton Village Carmichael. It's a very nice facility on thirty-nine acres, so it had large grounds. There was a three-story building of apartments. We were in one of the row houses. Other facilities called them cottages, although there were several of them that were strung together. It was really much, much nicer than just about anyplace else. It's almost like having a house. The building I was in was six apartments all attached to each other like a row house, and we each had our own garage. They had two swimming pools, but I didn't use any of that. There's a big pool that has recently been housed indoors with a glass roof. I've walked around it, but I've never been in it.

Eskaton Village Carmichael is a 36-acre beautiful property. You have to go through a person at a gate before going in. I think 30 years ago, it was really the place to be. It was grand, but when you go in, it's very dated. It looks like something from the 1980's, and it looks a little worn. It has a gift shop, you can get your drugs there, it's really high end that way, but you have to buy a house there, and it was just too big. I couldn't walk from the house to the pool or to meals. You'd have to be on a scooter or have a golf cart. The person who toured me was very nice. They had a concierge doctor and he had his own office there, so it's like really living in a neighborhood, and it has a big dome over the pool so they can use it yearly. We looked at a rental, which was very nice, and there was a big room where people were making things, and I think they were just finishing up on Easter egg baskets when I was there.

Eskaton Village Carmichael seems very good. It's a very nice and very skilled facility. My father is in rehab from surgery. He has physical therapy and wound care. The staff so far is fine. He just got there recently and it's very good so far. You're not allowed to go in, but it's very nice from the outside. You can visit with a six-foot rule in a designated area after you're screened. I saw him, but you can't go into the room. He says the food is much nicer than where he was. The surroundings are very nice, and it's very upscale.

The room was spacious and clean throughout my stay. The therapists were helpful for my rehabilitation needs and the CNA's friendly and caring. We were able to go to the dining room for meals, if desired, which offered a nice restaurant atmosphere.

My mother has been in both assisted and independent living at Eskaton Village Carmichael. It's a high-end place and it's pretty nice. It's pretty expensive, but they provide good care. The staff is great. It's a beautiful facility. They have speakers, music, classes, and physical fitness. Her room is a lot simpler now, but before in the independent living it was quite nice. The dining rooms are excellent and beautiful in both places. The food is also excellent. It's really meat heavy, which is not me, but they try hard and they have beautiful vegetables. They have excellent staff members and they should pay them a living wage.

I was in skilled nursing from Feb to April. The Village is a beautiful facility and the grounds make you want to take walks. The CNA's were wonderful and kind. Cannot say enough about their care of me - the therapists both Occupational and physical helped me learn how to care for myself with my new rules of No bending, Lifting and Twisting. They push you to do your absolute best Plus a little more - the nurses and other staff always greeted us with a smile.

My friend was in the independent living at Eskaton Village Carmichael for six or seven years. It was too expensive, but it was good for him to live a normal life there and have his kids visit him. His kids could stay overnight in an extra room. His apartment was excellent too. He had three rooms in his apartment. It was very comfortable, and it could fit all of his furniture. He was happy with it. Everything was very nice. The staff members were very easy to get along with. They were very friendly. They knew my friend very well, and they were always there for him. I like the facilities too. They had a couple of extra rooms where we could stay and play cards. The dining room was very nice. The people serving lunch were friendly and very efficient too. The food was very good. It was well cooked. If somebody couldn't eat anything, they would make suggestions as to what else he/she could have.

First off let me say that pretty much all the workers at Eskaton Carmichael do an excellent job with the residents. They are very caring and helpful to all that live there including their relatives that come to visit. They have tons of activities available. They also take trips on a regular basis out of the facility that are fun and entertaining. However, buyer beware. The business side of the operation is not as caring and concerned for the people that live there. If you have to move from the regular care to assisted care unit they drag their feet when it comes to selling your previous residence. With no incentive to sell your place you could be paying a bill of $9000 to $11000 a month. For a senior on a limited income this could be disaster. This could drag on for 6 months or even a year. In fact in my mom's she has been out of it over a month and they still hadn't done anything to get it ready to sell and hadn't shown it once. After expressing my frustration numerous times they have done a little but not much. So again, buyer beware. If you want a place where the staff is very loving and caring then Eskaton might be right for you. But at the same time take note that you may be paying for a place you even occupy long after you leave with no power to get them to sell it.

I've never ran into so many incompetent people in my life. If they run the amenities properly, they'd be fine. The people don't know what they're supposed to be doing or their supervision is not making sure that their people are doing them. The staff is just fine, but they have no supervision or they're not being told what to do. I'd give the bosses 1 star. The staff, I'd give a 5 because in my opinion, they're not being supervised properly.

All services are delivered efficiently, cheerfully, on time, and according to schedule. The staff goes out of its way to provide and perform the manifold services that the residents and elderly disabled need to get along comfortably, readily, and effectively. I have nothing but praise for them and thanks to the many levels and types of help provided.

Food excellent. Assortment of entrees and desserts. Responses are usually good but not always best caregiving (slowness etc.). Good employees: cheerful, efficient. Good variety of enjoyable activities. Sometimes an employee walks in without knocking.

My wife and I moved into Eskaton Carmichael Assisted Living about 1 1/2 years ago from our home. Our first impression was "Wow!" It was like moving into a country club from its impressive landscaping, large pond with flowing fountains, and lush green lawns beneath a variety of towering trees. And the quality of service we receive here as residents is equally as impressive. The staff is exceptionally friendly and ready to accommodate us and meet our many needs. The food service is exceptional from its preparation to the serving. The cleanliness of the entire campus -- stem to stern -- is very notable. Activities and special programs are appropriate to our level of care. Management and distribution of personal medications assures health needs are met in a timely manner. An outdoor glassed-in swimming pool and exercise rooms are available for fitness activities. Twice a week a happy hour, with wine or punch, is filled with entertainers bent on making this a pleasant experience. In all, Eskaton does a great job of transforming the aging experience.

We went to Eskaton Village Carmichael. They invited us to stay for dinner, so we had dinner with them and I liked it. However, it wasn't a comfortable fit like the other place I saw. The food was excellent. It was nice, clean, and quiet, and I liked the three levels of care because I want to go to a place where I could stay and not have to go some place else when I need more care. It was very nice.

Eskaton Village Carmichael is beautiful. It has an enclosed pool, 9-hole putting green, a very large cafeteria/restaurant, and beautiful grounds. The apartments were a little larger than most places. It was the best of all the centers I visited. The staff was very knowledgeable. The food and the dining setup were very good. You name it, they've got it. They had exercise rooms and classes, a huge hot tub area, massages, beauty parlors, and people can ride their scooters because it's a large place. They also have music, movies, sing-alongs, and plays.

I was considering moving my father into a apartment in independent living of Eskaton. Then I found out how rude and disrepesctful the dining room manager is. She made one of the residents cry and yelled at her infront of everyone.

There are many activities and committees from which to choose. Therefore, we are always interacting with others, keeping our brains and bodies active. I believe people live longer here! I consider EVC a "land cruise!"

The apartments are really nice in independent living at Eskaton Village Carmichael. The rooms range from 500 square feet up to 1,200 square feet. The dining room is very good restaurant-style dining. It has a swimming pool, hot tub, putting green, and a lot of transportation options, like a shuttle that can take you to your doctor's appointment. They can also drive you using your own car to your appointments. They offer three meals a day, but Mom only pays for one. They have a full-time nurse and some really good professional people, as well as an Alzheimer's support group.

My overall impression of Eskaton Village was that I wished I could move in myself tomorrow. Everything is very nice -- the facility, the grounds, and the people. They really make the residents feel like they are the customer, and they are to take care of them. The food is beyond wonderful; it’s outstanding. The rooms are large, bright, and clean. The kitchens looked like a miniature real kitchen from a house. They have a regular size refrigerator, granite counter tops, and actual cover. They’ve done things like some of the things and some of the facilities, like they would take the fiber glass tab and kind of section out of it. At the villages, they have a glass door that has a squeaky bottom, and it literally is a flat surface you walked straight across the tile into the shower without having to step over anything.

Eskaton Village was not as friendly and a little bit colder because people looked the other way and were busy. It was beautiful. The rooms were comfortable and nice. We are so thankful a bed was available at the Eskaton Village Skilled Nursing Unit when our Mother was discharged from the hospital. It takes a team to mend a patient and the Eskaton Village Skilled Nursing Unit is a caring and competent community. The care our Mother received during her 2 month rehabilitation stay in the Skilled Nursing Unit was exceptional. The CNA’s need to be acknowledged for their genuine concern, patience and attentiveness. The RN’s skillfully assessed her needs and kept the family informed of health concerns. The rehabilitation therapists built her confidence and strengthened her body. They guided her through challenges with humor and made therapy fun. The dining room staff was very courteous and always available to provide nourishment. The other staff who completed the team were helpful and accessible. The rooms in the Skilled Nursing Unit were bright, clean and each bed had a window with a pleasant view. The food at Eskaton Village was very good. And, the grounds are beautifully landscaped and a pleasure to stroll around. EVERYONE we met at Eskaton Village was friendly and greeted us with a warm smile.

Eskaton Village Carmichael was very well-appointed, it had everything you would want. I was not impressed with the food, and the dining room. I was not very pleased with the surrounding community. The gal I spoke with was very nice, and I thought everyone was nice too. They have a lot of space, and all the things that everyone needs. The place around the facility just didn’t appeal to me. The rooms looked very adequate, and very nice. I don’t have anything negative to say about the facility itself. I just don’t think it’s appropriate for our situation. The food choice was average, and the food servers were not extra wonderful.

I have been a resident of Eskaton for a year and a half. Moving here was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It is a very safe and nurturing environment with all at the extras one could imagine--beautiful friends, pastoral grounds, security, a lovely dining room, fairness center and enclosed pool, and 24 hour security. Life is good!

Eskaton surpassed my expectations. I've been here less than a year and find it is a warm, friendly environment, with caring staff and lovely neighbors. I feel fortunate that I moved here. Camp Koloa Grandmother, previously from Honolulu

Kim, Sandy and the entire team at Eskaton Village in Carmichael are as amazing as the community they work for! There are so many living arrangements: from apartments to private cottages. The vast community offers a serene, park-like setting. The food is amazing!! All of my clients that I have helped move into this community are extremely satisfied and grateful. It is tops on my list for recommendations in the area! Thank you, Kim and Sandy, for treating our mutual clients so well and making the entire process for them smooth and pleasant! My parents are staying in Eskaton. We are not happy about it, but it is too late because they don't have enough money to go anywhere else. One of them was already in the independent living and then transitioned into the assisted living. It is clean and beautiful. The facility is pretty good, but their whole setup of selling a membership is very unfair and unkind to clients who aren't millionaires. When my parent made the transition to assisted living, they told us that they could have everything moved out by the end of the month, so we rushed, and then later they told us, "Well, we can't. He still has to pay the double rent for 60 days." They can't sell it to another client. So we rushed and lost track of a lot of things because they told us we would save him some money by hurrying, and now they forced 60 more days. My parents lost certain things and a lot of money, and they didn't understand that. In fact, we had friends who took a lawyer with them when they signed the contract, and the lawyer said, "Well, I understand it, and yes it is legal, but nobody who is not a lawyer or any potential client that comes in, they are not going to understand that they are throwing away potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars." Everything in the contract was apparently legally worded but not in plain English. The care staff is very nice, very cordial, and very friendly, but they are not good at self-initiating the actual assistance in the daily living skills that he needs assistance with.

Eskaton was very nice inside, and the rooms were large. The dining room looks fine too. The activities were very good like bingo and crafts. I really like the facility itself and the apartments. The staff was very helpful and caring.

We liked Eskaton because it is less than a mile from where we live, and my father had been there before he passed away. They have gone through some changes, and I really could not answer even on a scale how they were other than my experience with them prior was positive. From what I understand, security was good.

This is a Disneyland for older adults. They WOWed me with the knowledge and professionalism of the sales ladies and everyone I came in contact with during the time I was touring. They have so much to do and see as well as many differnt options in living quarters. They have cute cottages. I loved the 2 bedroom cottages and before I left I put my deposit down and am so excited to be moving in this spring. I am so glad I found Eskaton Village.

I was looking for a facility that had independent living with its own living quarters. I have a dog and I don't want to live in an apartment with a dog. Eskalon Village had a little cottage that was available, one bedroom, one bathroom, a kitchen and living room. It was nice because it was like your own home. You're not living with someone attached to both sides or above you or below you. It was just an independent house and they were going to do a lot of remodeling to it. They're exceptional and very good at what they're doing. They have very helpful employees and the food is good. They provide a lot of transportation, meals and housekeeping. Everything about Eskaton Village was fine but it was too expensive. I just couldn't afford to live there.

It is a gated community which, in general, I tend to disagree with most of our cultural idea of how to care for our elderly, but they regularly bus in performances, and bus residents out to concerts, events, church, and the like. When I had to deal with staff members, all of them had a clear idea of their duties and who to seek if my questions were out of their knowlege base. It felt a little bit like dealing with the staff at a Disney World resort. Almost anyone was able to answer my questions, and they all answered them with the same, non conflicting, answers.

wonderful care of a loved one for 3 years. They took good care of my family as we watched and waited for our family member to succumb to this disease.
