Assisted Living Communities in Sterling, MI

"I visited a friend at The Brook of West Branch close to three years ago. Her room was very nice, and they took very good care of her. Everything about the home was just grand and glorious. The help was very nice. The facade seemed very nice. It had a plain open field and a nice sliding door that went outside. It was not in a residential area at all, but it was close to medical facilities. It was a super place. They were very satisfied with the price and everything. The only thing I would ask would be a few trees outside my window."

"My mom is in Linwood Residence, she's in a state that's not well. She's getting the best care possible, but she does not recognize me and don't know what's going on. She doesn't communicate at all; I haven't seen her in 6 weeks and I can't talk to her. They won't let us in because of the governor. The staff are very caring people, and they go out of their way to help do what they can. She's in a better home before, because she was living in a home that only had 6 ladies with dementia, but they're closed."

"My mother is at The Brook of Gladwin. It's a community housing with the standard amenities. They get meals in the dining rooms, and they have elective activities for them. The staff provides assistance with bathing and getting her out of bed. I talked extensively with the administrator, and I have a really comfortable feeling that she manages things well. The staff morale is good, and they're patient. They take care of the patients, they understand what their duties are, and they're professional. They do what needs to be done, but they're truly kind. They treat patients with respect and not all of those kinds of organizations perform that well. I'm very comfortable with how The Brook is doing. Her room is kind of a suite. They have meetings where they sing songs together and have stretching exercises for everybody. They have bingo and card playing. They have a beauty salon."

"I visited The Caring Place. It was a very clean and a beautiful place. It had a non-evictus facility. It was probably a 10-room flat, and it was a house converted into a facility. My mom was on a waiting list there because it was a nice place and it was a small group home, so I thought my mom would be cared for a lot better. They had small rooms, and they don't have a private bathroom, but it was located just outside the room. They had home cooked meals which I really loved because where she's at right now, she doesn't had many home cooked meals. It had a pretty yard. They were watching TV and chatting with one another, and they weren't really weren't doing any doing activity at that time that I visited. "

"My mom has been a resident at Cascades for a year. The owners and staff are very caring, kind and compassionate. Her room is nice and large so we can have several visitors at once. The residents are wonderful. My mom does bible study with her friends every morning. They also have live music on Tuesday and Friday afternoons. The place is very clean and the food is homemade and very good. The menu is always different for a great variety for the residents. I am thankful my mom is safe, well taken care of and fed good food!! Kendra Baillargeon"

"My husband is in MidMichigan Stratford Village. This nursing home is part of the MidMichigan Hospital. It is very clean and I have no complaints with it. It is supposedly the best nursing home in the area. It is difficult to find a good place, so he was lucky to get in there. My husband is there because his situation has gone from bad to worse. He is not walking or feeding himself and he has just deteriorated pretty rapidly. However, he is getting good care there and they are definitely going out of their way to meet his needs. He has been there for a little over three weeks now and I think he is in a good place. "

"my Mom lived at Sheffield for almost 6 years. The last 8 months in memory care. Sheffield management was quick to respond and ro make changes if we made suggestions or had complaint. There are 6 children involved and one of us was there daily. It didn't require that but this is proof we are very familiar with the way Sheffield performed. At the end, during Covid, my Mom was treated like she was their own Mom. Through Covid they had excellent individualized programs and video sessions with family. "

"My grandmother was very well taken care of, and we visited almost daily. This facility is small with only 20 bedrooms (even the small room was large enough for her to have her twin bed, a couple of end tables, a dining room table/with drop down leaf and two chairs, a recliner, a tv stand and tv, etc.). This small number of residents allows residents and their family members to become familiar with the staff and other residents. Staff is pleasant and caring. Residents are encouraged to take meals together in the dining room (but not forced to)...and sometimes when family members are present at a meal time...family members are invited to join them for their meal. Also, a separate eating area is available for family members/friends to bring something in to share, or to celebrate a happy event. Off-site activities: ball games, day-trip to Frankenmuth, etc. On-site activities: special music, church service, craft activities, hair salon, etc. One evening a week was "Take Out Night" with take-out food being brought in for residents. Also, if residents didn't want a particular meal being served, they could ask for something simple from the kitchen...grilled cheese, canned soup, cereal, etc. (Grandma did so when her stomach wasn't up to having certain things.) If I were to need assisted living care, I wouldn't hesitate to live at Plainview."

"My brother is a resident at Colonial Villa and is always telling me how compassionate and caring the staff is He is very well taken care of and it gives me peace of mind. I am very pleased with the staff and all the activities they provide. He has been at this facility 4 years and I have never heard a complaint. Thank you to all those who provide services at this facility for doing a great job!"

"First thing my husband noticed was the cleanliness of the facility. Staff was was great. My father-in-law was only there for tow and a half months but they celebrated his 100th birthday! So very pleased with his healing and physical and occupational therapy. I will highly recommend them!"

"King’s Daughters Home is very good. It's a small facility with a total of 60 beds, and so far it’s been pretty good. There's a smaller size in assisted living, which has one-bedrooms, studios, and a couple of suites. The larger the room, the more it costs. They don't accept any type of Medicaid payment at all. It's all private pay. The nursing home part of it is also single occupancy and from what I understand it has the lowest cost in the state. The dining room is pretty decent. Assisted living and nursing home are separate. They do outings for the people that can do it. They try and provide aides for anybody who wants to go. "
