I visited this facility

Horizons Senior Living was clean and hospitable. The people were very nice and knowledgeable, and they understood the situation, but they could be more friendly. To me, it appeared they were just doing their job. The meal I had was decent. It was just a packaged food.

I see in the past this facility has not had a good rating and unfortunately that was due to the Administration. I can honestly say since the new Administrator has taken over in 2019 this facility has changed immensely and most definitely for the good! She is caring, attentive and had built a fabulous team of caregivers. The care is great and it’s clean!!! It all stems from management! I have seen myself the huge difference in management and it’s amazing what a significant change happens when you have a true leader that’s passionate about her work and loves her job. The Residents are more joyful and alert and there are a few Residents that are now coming out of their rooms for meals and to socialize, that had never came out of their room in the past. The staff are so kind and always helpful, they go above and beyond! It is apparent that they all really love what they do care truly care for the Residents. The atmosphere is light and enjoying...there is respect and appreciation shown at all times and if a Caregiver isn’t doing something correctly, they aren’t scolded..they’re taught and explained how and why the correct way is important and they’re not afraid to ask if they’re ever unsure, always getting positive reinforcement and constructive criticism which are all of the ingredients to building a strong long lasting team! Very impressed and would recommend this facility to anyone in need of loving care, under the current Administrator anyone would be satisfied with what they would see!

Less than 1 star? Staff very dismissive of family and resident concerns, family member walked around in pain for 3 days with no medical attention. Administrator in not licensed and has a very bad attitude.

Buyers beware!! I would strong discourage anyone from using this facility for a family member who is unable to speak for themselves. The care my mother got was horrible!! We had staff who ran her arm into a wall (we think, as we never did get the truth from staff) and caused a skin tear. The facility staff would leave mom in her wheel chair all day, if family wasn't there to intervene. Food was placed in front of her and taken away, when staff knew she ahd to be fed. There was a med error where she was given another resident's medication by an acting assistant administrator. That assist admin was never written up for that error. When family would attempt to point out problems, we ran up against little willingness among staff to step up and give the kind of care family would except of a four thousand dollar a month facility. The owner of the facility even went so far as to state they give "excellent" care. That is far from teh truth. Use this facility for your loved one at your own risk.
