My wife is now at Visions Assisted Living & Memory Care at Apache Junction. The staff are very good at their job, and the place is really clean. It's a nice place. The food seems adequate. I haven't been there when my wife has been involved in activities. They have some kind of physical therapy. But with her condition, it's not extensive. They have a large room for activities and a lounge. There's not much of a courtyard. If you go outside, you're right next to a park, but you wouldn't want to have someone wander off. There could be rattlesnakes or scorpions. It's right there at the Superstition Mountain Park. My wife is in a room that has two residents. They have cable TV in all the rooms. They have a separate bathroom.

I toured Visions Assisted Living & Memory Care at Apache Junction. The rooms were a very good size. There were appliances in every room in every place. Some had big refrigerators, and some had small refrigerators. However, when a person gets into assisted living, I think that's a waste of space and time, because they need to be going down to eat. To me, those huge refrigerators and those big sinks and stuff are wasted space. If they've got three meals provided for them every day, why in the world would you encourage them to stay in their room? It's an older facility. They do a good job of keeping it clean and they do a good job of keeping it painted, but it's old. The lady that did the tour, her name was Tracey, and she took me to all three of the places. She was exceptional.

We toured Visions at Apache Junction. Everybody was just sitting in wheelchairs out in the lobby area, and no one was really attending to them. The staff was very pleasant and very knowledgeable. It just seemed cavernous to me. Everything echoed in there, and it didn't seem warm or comfortable. It did not seem welcoming at all. I saw a room, but it was empty. It had a private bath. It just kind of looked like a hospital room, so it didn't seem like a "home away from home" to me. It seemed like a hospital to me. I didn't see any activities. I didn't see anybody doing anything. It's a pretty convenient location. It has a nice view of the Superstition Mountains.

Memory Care situations can be very challenging for Staff and difficult for family members. I would like to thank Briana, Jessica, Tamara and Lela for their care and help with my Step-father. They were always willing to address any concerns.

Visions Senior Living at Apache Junction was very nice and setup very nice. There weren't a lot of concerns, except for the very strong urine smell. I only saw the sample room and it was very nice. It was a little studio without a cooking area. It was clean, modern, spacious for one person to be in, had ample closet space, and a walk-in shower. They have a day room area where residents were assembled in recliners and they weren't doing much.

I liked the Beehive Homes of Apache Junction. The facility was very nice. It seemed like they had staff members that are able to cope with Alzheimer's patients. One of the things that I was surprised about was that some things seemed to be for an added price -- like we had pay for the furniture if my son moved in. You either take your own furniture or pay extra. They had several levels of care, which I thought was good.

Beehive Homes had room, and they had the staff to take care of my husband, so that was my primary concern. I have no complaints about them. He gets adequate care, and that is all I can expect. I don't see a lot of activities. The only thing I have seen is some volunteers coming in and doing crafts or something, and then they do have a keyboarder that comes in every two weeks and plays one, and they like that; they like the music. It seems like they have a church service on Sunday night. When we went, they had a chef, and that was good, but the chef left, and then we had various folks, so we are king of in a transition period. They are very conscientious about the sanitation, and everything is wrapped and packaged, double wrapped and taken right out. There is no odor or anything.

Everybody at Bee Hive was very friendly. It was a smaller community, and we were thinking that it might be a better situation for my mother-in-law in some ways. It was all basically studio, it wasn't big, and she has gotten used to her things around her, so to move all her stuff away from her would not have been the right decision. So that was one of the reasons why we decided to keep her where she is. There were lots of things that we liked about it, but we just decided that it is not time for her to move.
