I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom is currently at Aspire at Arbor Springs. They've got good people, but some of their CNAs and staff, they're just not joyful. My mom doesn't do without on any level, and they're super nice, even when she's grumpy, so I can't complain. The food is horrible. She's on a soft diet because she had a stroke. Here they won't feed her anything solid, so everything that comes to her is already mushed up, so none of it looks appealing, but that's because she had a stroke and they don't want her to choke on anything. I can't rate the food because I haven't really seen the food before they have to puree it for her. They've got a bunch of activities, like we go over and we paint rocks and they get dinner out that you can do. They've got shopping trips and stuff, they do movies there, they've got a ministry there. They have a whole calendar of events. So we get to see it at the beginning of the month and kind of plan out when we want to come and what we want to kind of try to get her involved in. As far as that goes, the facility's really good. I really wish that they gave services away for people like this at a much cheaper rate, but honestly, for comparison, if I'm comparing it to everybody else, I would say they're right in the middle with everybody else.

My husband a patient following a stroke. I regret more than anything choosing this place for his recovery. They did the BARE minimum PT and RARELY got him out of bed over the course of a month. He was not well taken care of at all. They confined him to bed yet wouldn't help with his restroom needs or hygiene. He was so depressed and anxious there he came to feel as though someone was trying to kill him. Of course when I would call to speak to someone according to them everything was fine. If you care about your loved one take them somewhere else!!!!!

I chose Arbor Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center for my uncle. When I first walked in everybody was very kind, and they are still kind to this day. What's nice is there's no smell, we always think there's a smell to nursing homes but they're not here. The staff is always very kind and friendly. My uncle says the food is always good and a lot of food. They also do activities, movie nights, and bingo, and there's a piano in there so anybody that could play the piano can do that. The facility just always seems very nice and it's centrally located, so it's perfect to Shands and perfect to Orlando Hospital.

Food is horrible. No green salad at all. Seldom enough anything. Oatmeal with no butter or sugar sucks Would not reccommend, unless you want to expire early

My dad was in Arbor Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center for rehab. There was one good nurse, that's the best about it. But he hated it there. He couldn't wait to get out. This was worse than the other rehab place he stayed. He stayed for two weeks. He had a week of rehab and then no communications, so we had to pay for skilled nursing for a week. The rooms were not good, the heater did not work in the room he was in. There was a huge spider in there. They said they would come and get it, and they went off. It's not aesthetic at all. It's not pretty at all. It's just like a hospital room area. I didn't like it. It was very expensive for that one week that we had to pay for it.

My mother was admitted here, the staff never read her charts from hospital. She had been on a liquid diet for 23 days. The staff fed her all the food she could eat including CORN!! She was there 2 days readmitted to hospital they never called my sister who had POA for my mom. Long story short she passed a few days later. PLEASE DON'T SEND YOUR LOVED ONES TO THIS FACILITY!!!

She is missing so much of her belongings...clothing, blankets, sentiments, new chromecast that came with her tv..Her shoes were even MISSING!!They don't take care of their patients. Didn't bathe my mom for weeks!!! 4hrs to get a bed pan. Stay away!!

Please don’t take anyone that you love to this place. Poorly staffed always but especially on weekends and the staff that is there could care less with the exception of a very small handful of CNA’s. The rooms are dark and dingy and the beds are prehistoric! I think they medicate patients to make caring for them easier. Food is sub par! Nobody communicates with each other or the families. This place is horrible!!! The administrative staff are not professional nor are they there for the patients! Starting with the Director!!! The level of incompetence just goes on and on and is tolerated by the Director! Complaining about what is going on there falls on deaf ears. My loved one, who was there for therapy ended up with bed sores because they left patients in bed for so many hours per day! Why is a therapy patient spending up to 16 hours per day in bed??? Horrible horrible experience!

If your loved one can do for themself it’s ok but if they have to depend on staff it’s very hard. No tlc for sure! Definitely have to do your own laundry or it disappears. Cleaning leaves a lot to be desired. If your loved one can get there on their own they can enjoy amenities. Meals are never on time & menu is very limited.

DO NOT LET A LOVED ONE GO THERE!!!!!!!!! I should have know not to let me loved one go there! It was too late to change his referral. They are super rude on the phone. My father asked for his pain pill at 7pm and at 10pm he still had not gotten it! I’m in the process of getting him relocated to a place that treats their patients and family members better than this!!!!!

I would like to thank the staff of Oakhurst for the kind and caring attention given to my father, Harrell Gibson while he was a patient at Oakhurst. Especially the Nurse/CNAs who helped him dial the phone when he felt confused and needed to talk. You all are wonderful group of Angels on Earth!

My sister is in the memory care unit of Oakhurst Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. It's a really huge community with 160 beds, they have both rehab and long-term care. The place is clean, and the staff works really hard to take care of my sister. The only thing she complains about is the food, which is horrible; I would agree with her on that. The physician comes around to see her, and they also have a nurse practitioner that they can contact if they need something. There are lots of activities, my sister goes to a crafts class, and she really loves that there are lots of therapy animals there. We're all very satisfied with this community so far. It didn't have a very high rating when we did research regarding this place, but we found that that's not the case at all. My sister was in a room with a lady that really bothered her and the lady just wouldn't leave her alone, so my sister requested a room change and they accommodated her without problems. However, they don't really have a separate memory care unit for people with dementia, so my sister is mixed in with all the long-term care people, and that worries me. There are times I feel like they don’t even understand what her diagnosis is, and that dementia is not really at the forefront of their evaluations and things like that.

CNAs are wonderful, but they can't do everything. It typically takes 1-3 hours to get any unscheduled medicines...such as pain pills or sleeping pills. The cable has been out for 4 weeks and I can only pickup 5 channels...which 2 are very blurry. When you ask anyone they say it is due to an upgrade by the cable company. I'm surprised the cable company would shut off service while waiting to do an upgrade. Some tvs pick up 2 or 3 more channels or have better reception. Though I was told someone would look into it...maintenance just tells youthe cable upgrade will be "this week" and it will take care of the problem.

Grandpa loves Oakhurst Center. They gave him plenty of attention, and he got up walking back in the walker. So, he really likes the rehab. They get him up, and make him walk. He lives in a wheelchair, and now he’s in his walker. It’s more institutional than assisted living for sure, but what they have is a really big place. It’s like a big nurses’ station with four wings. My grandpa has a roommate, the bathroom is really nice, and he has a room of his own; which is nice. It’s not decorated like a home or assisted living, but it’s more like a doctor’s office; more like a hospital. There are TV’s, and a little cafeteria where they can go get their food earlier. It’s just kind of like they’re wheeled in a wheelchair, and they can watch the TV on the wall; but they can’t change the channels

Their rooms could be a little better at Oakhurst Square. They were like regular hospital rooms. My father was well taken care of. It did not have a homey atmosphere.

I would never recommend this facility. The care is negligent and administration is ineffective. I honestly believe they hastened my family member's death.

I was at Oakhurst to visit my aunt, the facility is very nice, an upscale facility. It looked good and clean. My aunt seemed to be comfortable in this rehab facility. The facility appears to be well kept and the personnel were very nice.

It was beautiful, well maintained and excellent facility. It had a big hospital attached to it. People looked very comfortable even though they were wheelchair bound.

My dad was with Oakhurst Center for about five week. The physical therapy people were very good. They worked very well with him with his therapy. They were very patient with him. He was hearing impairment and they would lean down and speak to him so that he would understand the instructions. He was in a wheel chair and he was a real fall hazard so they had alarms on his bed and on wheelchair to make sure that he didn't would get up and fall. When he had c-diff while he was there, they isolated him in a private room. They took good care of him with that. They kept him clean. All in all, I was very pleased with the way they took care of him. The only problem I had with them was on the weekend they seemed to be short staffed.

"We've gone to this nursing home and one of the attendants stole my wife's credit card and over billed us. They take her credit card when she billed to therapy then they go out for lunch, filled the car with gasoline, then got back and put the credit card back. And now I'm trying to get my money back. And I have to get a lawyer. They also gave her a form to sign that cause her to drop her medical insurance and sign up for medicare because they didn't want to do the paperwork to billed to the medical insurance to get the money. Stay away from this place!"
