My Aunt had lived here for years. She’s passed away now, but she never complained about her stay

My Aunt lives here and she loves it. The staff has been here for years. It’s clean and the residents are very happy.

We visited St. Marys Manor in South Milwaukee. They were very small, had very few windows, and had no private bathrooms. I think it's only good for somebody who is social, could get around, and didn't need a wheelchair, which is a big negative for us. The residents can also walk outside, go to the gas station or to the grocery store, and walk back. It didn't have a good feel to me. Someone cooks the meals for the residents, and I think they help with the medications, too. There is also a living area to gather in to watch TV. Everything was tight, so if you don't need a lot of exercise, and you have a walker, that's probably OK. You also need to sort of actually like the people around you because you're right on top of each other; it's very small. There were two floors, and there were maybe eight residents on the bottom floor and six above. There is an elevator in cases of emergency, but the space was not big enough to actually wheel a wheelchair around it. The aide who accompanied us that day was nice enough, and she introduced us to people. They showed us where the medications are locked. We got to say hello to a couple of folks in there. Everybody was very nice. It looked like they've all been there for a while, and they're comfortable around each other. They were all parked in the couches around the TV when we were there. It was nice, but it just didn't fit what we were looking for.

I took a tour of St Mary's Manor recently. It was very homelike. The staff were very comforting and easy to talk too. You could tell they enjoyed working there. The Administrator gave me the tour and she was very knowledgeable about the elderly population. They seem to do a lot of activities and outings, which my mother definitely needs to keep her mind stimulated. Although the decor was very old fashion, painting and redecorating was in progress. I would recommend this facility to other people.

When I first stepped into the facility it seemed quite dark, the lighting was very dim. To me that was a negetive aspect because for the people that lived there, that would seem depressing. All the doctors, nurses, and CNA's seemed very nice and caring and taught my group what it took to make all the people feel comfortable. Another negetive aspect was that the people's rooms were so tiny. All they contained was a bed, tv, and a dresser. I thought that maybe the rooms should have been bigger so that if the people are able to get up and walk, they are able to. One thing I did like about the rooms and thought it was a positive thing is that all the rooms had a nice big window overlooking outside. I thought that was great because although they are "stuck" in there they can still stay in touch with the beautiful nature. Overall I thought the facility was a pretty nice one, there were no major negetive things that I seen while I was there. I would recommend this facility to family members or friends.

St. Marys Manor is located in the South Milwaukee region in Wisconsin. It has all of the benefits of urban convenience, yet is designed to be peaceful for the residents. We were visiting the facility while searching for a place for our aunt to live in the area. We liked the exterior and the outside area was very nicely maintained. The facility can accommodate all levels of ambulation. The foyer featured a nice fresh air and natural light. Decorations and furniture were all lovely and easy to access. Each room was beautifully decorated and furnished. The colors throughout the building were soothing and comfortable. All of the indoor rooms had plenty of fresh air and light. Community activity rooms were spacious, with comfortable furniture and nice decors. The main living room was very cozy and with nice furnishings. The residents go on many trips to visit local and surrounding art galleries and museums, and also eat at casual and fine restaurants. The exercise room features aerobics and yoga classes and nice equipment to use. The seniors can easily socialize, play games, watch TV and films and participate in many stimulating activities. Activities are designed around the things that residents enjoy. .The dining room was quite nice, with plenty of space. The food we saw looked and smelled delicious. The meal menus all had healthy food options for all kinds of diets. Snacks are offered all day, as well as whenever residents desire them. The private living spaces featured plenty of air, light and space in nicely decorated surroundings and comfortable furniture. The residents looked very well cared for and content in this living environment with kind, considerate and attentive staff.
