Franciscan Villa is a very nice place. The staff is excellent. The nurses are caring, kind, and have always been very helpful to me. They are taking good care of my friend. The food is very good, too. They seemed to have quite a few activities and people are always involved.

I will be moving into Franciscan Villa. It's very beautiful, clean, and very nice. The room is ready to move in and very clean. The staff during the tour was very personable and nice. The dining area was very nice. I did not take any of their food.

Franciscan Villa was the only one so far that will take Family Care right away. My sister thought the living quarter was a little small, but it seemed like a nice place. I only met one person there, and she was very helpful. We never tried the food, but they provide food, so they don't have to cook for themselves. They provide laundry, which they can do themselves if they want, or they will do it for them. They provide some cleaning in the room and they'll sort their medications. They have a lot of activities for the people to do there. They take them shopping and to see the lights on Christmas.

My husband is a resident of Franciscan Villa for rehab. Their staff is very friendly, and very competent. The place is very clean. I have not tried the food, but my husband has been eating, he likes it. They have a beauty shop and a library. It's an old place, but their staff is fantastic.

We did get a tour of Franciscan Villa and it was very nice. It's a skilled nursing facility. The price of this one is about the same as where he is right now, maybe $1,000 to $1,500 less. When you look at the place from the outside, it doesn't look that big, but it's huge. The staff were pretty nice. It is very clean, and the rooms are very nice. The only thing that I really needed was a TV in the room, and I'm having problems with that. Mostly, they want people to try to get out and talk to other people. So, I'm thinking that they want to have a TV and an activity room, or some other room so people can mingle. But some people, including my husband, are not people persons. If you look in the brochure, it tells you that you can have cable set up. It was really nice. The people that were in rehab where they helped the people get their life back together to where they can go home, they have a lift chair in every room. I think that's really good. They gave me a list of what the alternative food would be. If they were having meatloaf, and you wanted something else, you could get a salad or different things that could be added to your meal. If you were having pears one day, you could substitute it for applesauce or whatever. So, there was a lot of options there, and that was the only place I saw that. They gave you more like salads or whatever.

My mother is in Franciscan Villa South. They take my mother's cell phone so I can't reach her. They missed giving her medications several times, so she was rushed to the hospital. They didn't have running water in her room for her to wash her face. They didn't greet her, they're not welcoming when I come in, and it's just poor management. They have a lack of staff there. They don't have activities for the residents. My cousin chose it. The food was well prepared, but they weren't allowed to communicate at the table. I didn't like that they couldn't talk to each other. It was nice and clean, and the layout of the building was nice.

My wife used to be a resident of Franciscan Villa, but I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. They were understaffed and didn't respond to the residents' needs. Her apartment wasn't homey, it was old. There were also no activities. They didn't have a menu, so whatever they served is what you ate.

I put my Dad in this facility because of his dementia. I thought he would be in good hands, but I was highly mistaken. Toiletry was poorly done, on 2 occasions I had to clean him myself because of how poorly he had been cleaned. He had days worth of matter stuck to him. When i would arrive, I asked when the last time he was changed, well it was 3 hours back. I was told he would be checked every 2 hours, this did not happen. The staff was not skilled, in my opinion, in treating Alz/Dementia patients. It was such a horrible experience, I don't want anyone else to bother with this facility. After about 6.5 weeks, the facility sent my Dad to the hospital for evaluation, never intending to let him come back and wasted my time for 2 weeks in trying to locate another facility for him. Please don NOT bother with them.

Francis House is part of Franciscan Villa, and my husband and I both thought it was shabby looking; the carpets are worn out in spots, it was kind of dimly lit in there, and some of the walls were nipped up. We were not impressed. It just looked like it was getting worn; it could use an update.

My husband has pretty good care at Franciscan Villa. The staff seems to be very caring. The atmosphere is good and the facility is clean and well-kept. They also have an activity room there. They have activities for their residents. Everyday they're doing something. They have entertainment almost everyday, like somebody would come in and play a song or a guitar or whatever. I would recommend this facility to others.

My friend wasn't happy at Franciscan Villa. It's not a good environment and was a little bit overwhelming for him. They're understaffed. The people there who are supposed to be taking care of him are not really nice and responsible. They should do their job instead of talking in the hallways. When the lights go on, they should go see what's going on. How are they going to know if someone had a fall?

Frequently, as is the case with many of these places, they are under-staffed. Having 2-4 people watching over 60-80 residents is ridiculous. More staff would come in at mealtimes, but frequently my uncle would have to wait upwards of 30 minutes before being able to be taken to the bathroom. For the enormous costs to keep him there, it should have been better staffed. However, they did do a good job of keeping an eye on him regularly and making sure he did get his medicines. They also provided a range of activities that residents could be shuttled around too, at least for the residents that were coherent and conscious. Mostly I visited between 3pm and as late as 10pm, and that's when it was obvious they were under-staffed. We would take my uncle for a ride around the neighborhood just to get him out, and when we would be returning, there would be residents wandering around unattended, trying to escape, or just being left to idle. Again, the staff were nice, but just short a bit on man-power.

My first impression of the facility itself was a positive one. Everything seemed to be clean and organized for the residents. The staff greeted me with a smile as I entered the hallway. I arrived at the time they were about to serve the residents dinner. I took my grandmother to get her meal. She enjoyed what she was eating which made me feel secure about the health of the patients. I also noticed that they had a bulletain board of scheduled activities. My Grandmother also told me she enjoyed them. Overall this residance made me feel comfort and secure that my family member was and would continue to be well taken care of. I have no negative complaints about this place other than since it is a nursing home/ assisted living center, it's not always pleasant to hear some of the folks talk about how lonely they are, but that is sure not the fault of the staff there. I am sure that the staff does as best they can to comfort the residants' feelings. I would recommend this facility for anyone worried about a nursing home for their loved one.
