This is a lovely facility. They offer private one and two bedroom apartments that give residents a needed sense of independence along with the security of knowing that help is just moments away. The apartments are not new but they are well maintained and cheerful, and the grounds are well kept. They have a small community garden that is shared by the residents of Bay Point and the Atrium, and a small neighborhood park is right next door. There is ample visitor parking and a City of Racine bus stop right outside their front door. Bay Point is a full-service assisted living facility with a 24 hour nursing staff that provides whatever level of care the residents require. The staff with whom I came in contact was quite attentive and friendly, and all in all it seemed like a very welcoming, caring place. Residents can choose to have meals served in their apartments, but are encouraged to eat with others in the community dining room. I was there at lunchtime, and the room was nearly full. The people at the tables were alert and lively and there was a great deal of conversation going on-a far cry from the somber and depressing mealtimes at some other facilities I have seen. Although I did not actually participate in any of their social activities, they have a nice community room with a fireplace and their calendar of events offered a variety of activities, at least some of which I would enjoy. While I do not anticipate needing an assisted living facility in the near future, I find it a comforting to know that Bay Point is near-by. They are not luxurious or terribly lavish, but the welcoming atmosphere more than makes up for any amenities they lack.
