The staff at St. Clare who assisted me was very helpful. The rooms were clean. It’s an old center, but it looked to be very clean and well taken-care of. The staff was nice, very friendly and helpful. The place seemed to be safe as well.

We moved my parents into this facility shortly after my dad fell and we realized they needed help. My mom already had dementia and my dad was overwhelmed. He died shortly after the move and right from the beginning the staff has been WONDERFUL! They were very good to my dad during his short stay, even trying to figure out how to make his diet more palatable so he would eat more and gain strength. When we lost him, two of the staff attended his service and everyone was so kind to me and my mother. Mom has blossomed under their care. She is happy and always telling me how much she likes it there. The facility and the individual rooms are immaculate. They provide lunch and supper in the dining room, but staff will help my mom with breakfast in her room. Mom goes to adult daycare twice a week and they make sure she is dressed and ready for the bus. They help her with a bath twice a week and make sure she has on clean clothes. If she has an early lab appointment for her doctor, they will take her and then I can go in later and take her to her actual visit with her doctor. They keep in contact with the doctor and her pharmacy so they always know what she needs. I can call them ahead of time when I want to take her to lunch and they will let the dining room know AND have her ready and waiting for me when I arrive. They do her laundry, including changing her sheets once a week. There are two professional hair stylists who come in twice a week so Mom gets her hair done weekly and a perm as needed (she looks great). A podiatrist sees her on a regular basis. There is a beautiful chapel where church services are held and entertainment by local musicians as well as movies are provided regularly. They have some kind of activity for residents almost daily and there is even a small aviary where the residents can sit and watch all these beautiful little finches (they actually have nests and chicks)! They have a "grocery" cart that comes around once a week and they know what my mom likes and needs so I just let the "shop" for her. They will also take residents once a week on the bus shopping. They get to go to both grocery stores in town, Walmart, Shopko and Walgreens. I believe they also have bus trips that are just outings. Of course, they have cable, internet and phone service available. They allow you to choose the services your loved one needs so if my mom could make her own breakfast, then we wouldn't have them do it. EVERYONE, without exception, is very nice. We are lucky, lucky, lucky!

Monroe WI is of Swiss Heritage. Friedensheim means "Peaceful Home" in Swiss/German. This is a lovely facility. It is a two story, well maintained & very clean facility. It has comfortable sunny sitting areas at each end of the building, which can be used for reading or just daydreaming. My aunt is very comfortable there. She always has good things to say about the workers, who take excellent care of her. She will sometimes complain about the food (they serve to much chicken), but she is able to cook somethings with an electric fry pan or crock pot in her room. The facility is owned by our church, St John's United Church of Christ. One of my favorite things about the facility is the worship area. They have a very nice chapel (with a balcony) for the residents to attend. The services are open to the public, so I many times attend the church service there. Friedensheim offers many activities for the residents. If the day comes that I will need assisted living, I will be more than privileged to call Friedensheim home.
