I rehabbed at this facility after a fall which broke five ribs. I want to preface this by saying that I was in the rehab area not the assisted living facility. I am a 77 year old male. My care was exceptional, Covid19 precautions exceptional, staffing was supurb. The physical therapy, occupational therapy, and social services were exceptional. My mind and body were lifted to a higher plane through the nurturing of this great group of medical professionals.

If i could give this place zero stars i would. When i was driving up the rehab facility, i saw an elderly man in a wheelchair w his wife who was walking. The man's wheelchair tipped over, he was bleeding profusely from his head. I ran in to the building saying they need to call 911 immediately as there was an elderly man who fell and was badly injured. I ran back outside to stay w the elderly couple, 5 minutes passed and NONE of the staff came out to assist or help the man. Their lack of concern for patients is absolutely disgusting. For the amount of money these residents are paying , the care is well below average. This place should be shut down immediately

The contract you sign with your deposit indicates that the deposit (over $100,000) will be held by Oakwood until the unit is resold. Our family has been out of the apartment for a year. They have been holding the deposit for over 1 year. Also, they are not required to pay interest on the money being held. They opened new buildings and had no incentive to sell our apartment. Even sleazy landlords are required to pay back deposits with interest and in a timely manner.

Family member was neglected. Left in urine for 12 hours. Staff very unfriendly. Told family adls being performed that never were. Family member felt very unsafe. Staff advised on several occasions too busy to assist family member. Will be reporting this facility to the state for investigation.

We were very happy with the attention given given to my 92 year old husband. The rooms are adequate with private baths. The staff was incredibly cheerful and helpful. They seem to have a very high number of staff per patient. The nursing care for bandaging an amputation was well done, promptly, and according to Doctors instruction. The community between patients and Staff at meals and during the many varied activities was especially cheerful. The Physical Therapy was cheerfully done every day. If needed rehab we would return.

My mom stayed at Oakwood East rehab for a few months to recover from a fall and broken hip. Her condition was complicated by other ongoing health problems, including cancer, that the facility was just simply unequipped to handle appropriately. Some of the staff here clearly care about the patients and some could not care less. Several of her personal belongings were stolen, including medicine, clothing, phone chargers, etc, and the facility has made no attempt to recover them or apologize. Mom's wishes were ignored on several occasions and she was left in tears, feeling violated by being forced into treatments against her will. Their billing department has repeatedly sent me bills for 10's of thousands of dollars that we do not owe over the past several months and has repeatedly sent them to an incorrect address, despite having been provided the correct address several times. Bills they received from ambulance services in her name were not forwarded, nor were calls to them from the ambulance company seeking a mailing address returned for 4 months now, so those bills were sent to collections while her family new nothing of the problems. I would not send your loved one here. I feel incredibly guilty that I chose this place and subjected my mother to one problem after the other.

I didn't trust myself, after a knee replacement, to do what I had to do to recover so decided to stay at the rehab center of Oakwood Village East. I give high marks to my physical therapist and to a night nurse named Aaron. When my knee suddenly started to really, really hurt, the day nurses said it was just a normal part of recovery. The night nurse, Aaron, had the foresight to call the doctor and was told to call an ambulance & get me to the hospital. It turned out I had developed bleeding in the knee, which is one of the most painful things I have EVER experienced. The day nurses should have done what Aaron did! Also, there was a rather nasty night nurse, named Mary, I was in the bathroom when she came into my room and she snidely remarked, "Are you in the bathroom again!" I just spouted off to her that I had just survived a saddle pulmonary embolism and I didn't need her coming into my room acting like a smart aleck. My physical therapist, after I told her what happened, said Mary has done that before so she reported her to the management. The next evening Mary tried to be nice. After I was released from the hospital (after the knee bleed) I decided to just rehab at home. I was only taken to rehab once daily at Oakwood so I figured I could just rehab at home. I hope Mary is not still being rude to patients at the center.

My father-in-law is in Oakwood Village now. The facility itself is rather nice. It's several acres. They have a couple of ponds and swans, and there are walking paths all around it. People who are mobile enough can walk around there. There are a lot of people who really like it. He's in the nursing facility right now. He has an apartment there. It has independent living, it has assisted living, and it has full nursing care. I've only met with some of the nursing staff that had been taking care of him for the last several weeks. They seem to be really nice people and really competent, so I'm pleased that that the people that seem to be taking their job very seriously. It's institutional food. I think it's not restaurant quality of the highest restaurant, but it's OK. He likes the fact that he is independent and he can pretty much do what he wants and eat when he wants. There are hundreds of activities in a year there. They have a lot of things that are available for the people there, who seem to enjoy them. A world famous string quartet came right there just after he moved in.

My husband stayed in Oakwood. It was not good. That time he's had a back operation, they said it would help stabilize people with Parkinson's. The day he was supposed to be discharged from the hospital, they found out his bladder wasn't working. I don't get along with the nurses. Because I hang around all the time, and all I want is for him to get good care. It's too painful to go over everything.

While my grandmother was staying at Oakwood, all of the nurses and staff knew her by name, and knew ABOUT her. And that meant a lot to me. It was always a clean environment, and very well managed. It definitely wasn't the most up to date facility I have ever seen, and it did seem at times they were slightly under staffed, but overall my grandmother got the care she deserved and needed. They had lots of opportunities to go to church, or other functions at the nursing home which my grandmother did take part in. I do wish that there was a bit more access to doctors, but it's a nursing home and not a hospital. My father is getting along with Huntington's disease, and there is a very good chance I will choose Oakwood for my father's care because of the positive experience.
