Please do not place your loved one here. They are very understaffed.. they are overwhelmed with way too many people to care for... They over medicate patients so they do not have to care for them. The food is absolutely terrible and no other choices for your loved ones to eat.. place is run-down in outdated. Many of the staff have absolutely no compassion or love for their job because of being overwhelmed and understaffed.. please before placing your parent or loved one here take a tour of the place and talk to the residence.. this place should be closed down .

This skilled nursing/rehab facility is not staffed to handle anything more than routine, everyday tasks such as medication administration that never changes. If you or your loved one needs actual nursing care, they are not competent. They do not know how to handle even semi-complex medical situations and literally caused a great deal of suffering for my loved one because the nursing staff was so incompetent as well as uncompassionate. The PT staff seemed ok, but my loved one did not need extensive rehab services. The food was terrible. Some meals were barely recognizable, much less edible. My loved one could rarely force himself to eat the sub-par food, so family and friends had to bring food in. I would never recommend anyone use this facility.

First and foremost workers at manorcare to me always seemed more than competent as far as their duties went. The care that my grandmother received there during her last years was more than acceptable from a medical standpoint. The main issue I have with manorcare (and nursing homes in general) is that it felt like a hospital. While the staff was always respectfull they never struck me as friendly. They did make an effort to create activities at manorcare, which was nice. The largest complaint would be the rooms there were very utilitarian, and not at all home like. To me it always seemed that for a relatively small investment they could make the place at least appear hospitable instead of so institutional. The food they served was acceptable, nothing to write home about but no worse than you would find in most nursing homes. The one program they had that I thought was very positive was that they would have pets brought in for the residents to interact with and it always seemed to brighten everyones day.

My dad stayed at the facility for about 6 years until he passed this fall. The staff were really nice people. They always seemed friendly. The facility did not always smell the freshest, but that is understandable. The food seemed to be decent. I did notice that there were times that the nurses wouldn't respond to the call button being pressed when my dad would press it. Seemed as if they were understaffed for as many patients staying there. It also seemed as if my dad wasn't always the cleanest. He was very stubborn so I'm sure there were times that he didn't want to shower even though they offered. My dad wasn't in the best of health and was very limited in his mobility. He was in a wheelchair (couldn't walk) and had very limited use of his hands. Eating was hard for him and he there would be times he'd had spilled some of his food into his wheelchair and it wouldn't be cleaned out. He would play cards and go to religious services but other than that, he didn't do many activities. He would watch a lot of tv. Overall I'd give the facility 3 stars, because I know it is difficult to take care of all these patients but the staff was always friendly. The facility was not the most luxuriest of places and the activities seemed limited.
