My mom has been at Royal Park Retirement Center for 10 years now. The facility is very nice and elegant. They have a lot of amenities and full apartments. They have kitchens in their apartments. In the bathrooms, there are stackable washers/dryers. The smallest apartment available is a 1-bedroom apartment. They have a lot of activities. They have exercises, bingo, and people come in for all different kinds of entertainment. There are musical instruments that they play. Some people come in and sing. Some come in and perform skits. They have crochet classes and spiritual meetings. They do fingernails. They used to do pedicures and manicures, but they just do manicures now. They also have a beauty salon. The food is good. It used to be a lot better until they sold it to a different company. I think the quality of the food is not as good as it used to be. They have a five- course meal at lunchtime, which a lot of them take part in at home for their dinner. They used to have a full salad bar there, and they had to completely take the salad bar down during COVID. So, they're just starting to get back to serving that again. First, they serve soup, whatever kind of drink you want, and dessert. And then, the salad bar. Then it's the next course, which has probably 3 different items on it. And then they have the main course, which is usually meat, potato or rice, and vegetables. I think the weakest spot right now is in their maintenance, and that's because they're shorthanded, which is that way everywhere right now. It would be a lot better if they had a full staff to work with. They would get better results as far as maintenance goes and staff being there when they're supposed to be.

I liked the size of the Royal Park Retirement Center. It's considered small with 36 units in it. When I walked in, I immediately felt good about the place. There was a lady playing the piano, there were people sitting in the lobby just reading or visiting, and the girl that came to help us was very friendly. She went through things like what size and what floor I wanted, or if I had a preference for either. The dining room was very nice and very safe. It had a plexiglass in between the two people at each table, and their name was up on a little posting in the middle of the table so that people would know where they were sitting. There was a room on the second floor that I loved when I walked in. It had a full kitchen, stove, refrigerator with a freezer, and then there was a little half wall where you could look into the living room. At the end of it was a door to the patio. That was perfect because I have a kitty that loves to go out on our patio and lay in the sun, and she goes out there and sleeps. She showed us a one bedroom on the next floor without a patio and explained everything. It has been totally repainted and recarpeted, so it's spick and span. I loved the full-size refrigerator with a freezer, a washer and dryer in the bathroom, and a really nice handicapped walk-in shower. The manager explained more about what they do. I was happy with it. I gave my deposit down and they're so accommodating. It made me feel so good. She also gave me a list of activities they do, but because of COVID, they can't do all of those. She said they set up bingo and some crafts things in the dining room because it's got the plexiglass between them. Each floor had a little lounge at the end of the hallway where people play cards too, and they go for walks as a group each day, so there's interaction.

Our experience with Royal Park Retirement Center has been very good. I like the people that work there. They have all kinds of activities going on. They have three meals a day. They assist my mother with her showers, with getting down to the meals, and pretty much anything that she needs. She just has to call and they will help her. They have transportation as well. The apartments are very cozy, they had a warm feeling, and were nice. The staff is excellent and very caring. The food is great. It's very clean and they keep everything real nice.

Royal Plaza's staff was nice, but the place didn't have many amenities. The cleanliness wasn't good, and the food was not as good as it used to be. The place is not what it used to be. When you first go in the door, it's not friendly because there's no one there to greet you. It's like a nursing home. I wouldn't place anybody there.

I really like Lyons Court at Royal Park, but with regard to the money, I have not figured out how I'm going to handle it yet. I like it because there are small apartments, and I could get him one with a deck. It is in the same area I am living in and close to my doctors. This place is the one I am holding on for.

The service at Royal Plaza was implacable, incredible, and wonderful. I would recommend it to a lot of people. The staff were incredible and the amazing thing was there wasn't that much turnover. My grandmother was there for almost 10 years and they have the same staff for that amount of time.

The staff seems very helpful, kind, and attentive. Whenever my grandparents need anything in their apartment, the staff makes sure they get it promptly. The facility is very quiet and clean. And the residents are all very kind-hearted. I always feel welcome and comfortable when I visit there.
