Avamere at Port Townsend is very nice. It's not brand new by any means, but it's very nicely kept and very clean. The grounds are nice, too. The apartments are smaller than a home, of course, and you have to have your own furniture, but they're nice and well-appointed. I like the staff here. They're friendly and they care about you. The meals are tasty. They have two restaurant cafes and the service is really good. If you want more, they'll give you more. Then once a week, they change your bed linen and bring a vacuum to clean the sink, kitchen, toilet, and shower. They have three libraries, an exercise area, a common area where people can watch TV or play cards, a big craft room, and laundry facilities on each floor.

I love Avamere at Port Townsend. I have had no complaints. The staff is helpful, but they don't pay them enough, so they don't stay. Other than that, I'm very satisfied. It's a nice place. I would recommend it to anybody. There are a lot of assisted living people, and I think there are some that are low income. If you haven't lived in a situation like this, it's something to get used to, and that's been my issue. The food is good. I haven't participated in any activities because I've been trying to get myself settled, but they have a lot, and participation seems to be pretty high. It's a good value for the money.

My mom is staying at Avamere at Port Townsend. Its not bad, but they are just short-handed a lot. The food continues to be a problem even though they keep having meetings about it. My mom recently was helping another woman who had broken her wrist and was pushing her wheelchair for her. I called and they were responsive, but I told them that my mom and the woman might get hurt, and that this is a liability issue. The reality is my mom ended up helping again and again, but she finally said no. There's just not enough people. They do try hard and they care. The place is clean, and for the most part they fix things that break and they get things taken care of as soon as they can. Overall, it's good. They have activities and they take them places.

Seaport Landing was a lovely facility, and they were very helpful. It’s maybe a little higher end feeling -- a little more hotel resort-like. The rooms had nice windows and were reasonably sized and airy. A lot of people were out talking, and a lady was playing the piano.
